What a wonderful find on YouTube! I remember Betty White from the quiz show : "To Tell the Truth" (I think that's what it was called) ...... I was probably about 10 or 12 years old then....what a pleasant surprise to see what other talents she has!!!!!
@tomservo56954 Oh, if that were true. Kids were not exploited in the way we know today but it happened in its own way. Adults were very out of touch with kids needs. Giving kids "stuff" was often seen as a solution. I would like to think better care was taken here and that Betty indeed would not have allowed it, if she understood the situation.
The Brit sounds like Noel Coward. You know, some nude photos of Betty White have surfaced, believe it or not, quit recently, from long before this show, of course. Predictably, she looks good in them.
What a fantastic lady, down to earth and what a show, nothing can exist like this in todays world which is a bloody shame people are so different. Like other posts what ever happened to the little girl who would now be a pensioner!
I always loved Arthur Duncan on Lawrence Welk...this is my first view of the Betty White Show ... amazing change through the years but Arthur was the same that I always remembered him ...WONDERFUL!
@CoolGymnastKatie I apologize for my insensitive comment. I didn't know you were that young. Betty White is a wonderful actress. She's been on TV on and off for many years.
Betty's show was produced by Don Fedderson- he also served as Lawrence Welk's TV "rep"...and most likely suggested that Welk take a look at Duncan's talent, and that's probably why Arthur became part of Welk's "musical family".
Another rare kinescope from Betty's daytime NBC series {12-12:30pm(et)}; the first half sponsored by Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [R-D-X, Geritol]- the second half, "sustaining", and originally telecast in November 1954.
14:28- 20 second station I.D. ["WRCA-TV, Channel 4, New York"]
"Bud Collyer invites you to 'FEATHER YOUR NEST'- next, on NBC."
I wonder what happened to this young girl who was clearly in tears by the end. I doubt she was wishing for any of those things. She probably wished for a family. How painful. Thanks for uploading. I read Betty's autobiography and wondered about this show.
@TrixieVonTrixle I'm sure back then, they didn't do things just to exploit children and their problems--and Betty would have NEVER gone along with it.
@elucidative why? there are some things. anyways, this was the 50s and there were few channels. and it seems tv shows werent so harsh with language then than now.
