  • Great video, dude. Thanks for posting. Your last question was exactly the question I had in mind. I use this pass already, but I got some ideas from the video. Good stuff.

  • i like how he mentions that you have to play jiu jitsu when you learn... its not a tournament...

  • @stephankesting , cant he just scoop the leg with his free hand?

  • When you stand up can't they just open there guard pinch there knees grab ur ankles and push up you'll fall

  • @RetaliationAirsoft before you stand up, you trap one of your opponent's arm first so that he cannot grab your ankle. Marcelo Garcia executes that same pass and it works like a charm every time.

  • The technique was good, but what was really great was Shaolin's insight on repetition of the same technique to learn its subtleties. I often think "Man, I always do this same pass, I should change it up abit so people don't think I'm one dimensional." Now I know better.

  • Is that the guy from the movie powder?

  • @DanLujan 1/10

  • This is a great vid thanks :) i should be able to do this pass as its very similar to one we just got shown except the finish is different, thats why i love bjj so much ( WHITE BELT BTW ) small changes can make a big difference :) cant wait till im more advanced :) keep it up :)

  • Thanks Stephan, Shaolin made some great points! Nova Uniao! Ossss!!

  • i love this pass, I'm a white belt so I love the simplicity, and other passes tend to lead to me getting triangled a lot by higher belts,

  • I often wondered why Victor Shaolin, Marcelo Garcia, you,(Stephan Kesting) and all those good instructors are not fighting in the UFC. I think it's because you guys are REALLY studying for the ART of martial arts...that is your intention where as the UFC fighters need more the KILLER instinc and BOTH GROUPS ARE DARN GOOD PEOPLE (in general anyway)

  • @Normando5522

OR it could just be the fact that these are bjj artists, not mixed martial artists.

these guys dont punch or kick or wrestle, they do bjj.

  • Thank you for putting out so much great stuff Stephan. I'm really enjoying your videos.

  • Good thing there's an extra J in there.

  • Why no knee in the tailbone? Wouldn't that be better?

  • Yes, I agree with the suggestion to add subtitles. The room acoustics are not great which is a shame because this is a good video.

  • cont...but I remember a 100 kilo white belt blasting through my gard doing this very thing. And I thought to my self I should really take that pass back up.It`s so simple to do you almost take it for granted.

  • this pass does work, even if you do it sloppy, When steven puts his hand under shaloins leg, if shaloin kicks his foot forward then resets it, steven will not be able to control that leg. Also once shaolin get his hands on stevens legs and pulls them together steven is in real trouble. The stand up back out come back control legs always works.I stopped using it and opted for the knee through as I wanted to protect my fingers from grabbing cloth as I play guitar ..cont

  • :)

  • good job guys!

  • can you do this pass no gi?

  • vitor shaolin is legit!

  • good interview, but this deserves better audio.

  • @crunkjuice699 I agree 100%! I was traveling and didn't have my full kit with me, but I figured that good information with guerrilla audio is better than no information at all!

  • @StephanKesting or atleast adding subtitles??? :))) if you have the time.. this is great info..

  • :)

  • darn... nice matts.. i wish i could train there lol

  • Sir,

Every video is a humbling experience. Thank you for spreading your wisdom.

  • very good stuff, just what i needed. It made me realize that my guard passes are failing due to very little detailed mistakes. Thanks for posting Stephan!
