@wbrycem: What is so difficult to understand about that? Socialists want to coddle/control people from cradle to grave, and will introduce massive taxpayer-funded programs to achieve those ends. Libertarians, like Harper and most of his supporters, advocate less government involvement and greater personal choice. National health care, national pharmacare, national gun control, national daycare, national energy policy...all creations of the socialist left...all infringe on personal choice.
@raynus1 Harper trying to rush bills like C-10 tell me otherwise. National health care infringes on personal choice? By forcing you to what? Pay taxes? Well, so does education, roads, police, fire fighting, and anything else paid for by taxes. Damnit! Such restrictive government taxes, those public services are! In the meantime, create manditory sentencing and put everyone in prisons we don't have/can't afford to build.
Also, the federal conservatives spend so much money, your argument that..
@raynus1 socialists "will introduce massive taxpayer funded programs to achieve those ends" is laughable. How about planning on spending 9 billion on fighter jets? What a brilliant purchase (lol)! And his environmental policy is quite literally the laughingstock of the industrialised world. So if you want to revert (yes, as in backwards) to the failing American way of doing everything then move to the US, where it costs $65,000 to have a heart attack.
@wbrycem: I don't like having to pay CPP into a fund that will see minimum (if any) ROI, I would much rather have personal control over my retirement finances (I earned the money...I should have a say as to where it goes). Problem is, socialists want to strip money away from people like me to feed those who haven't bothered to save a single dime for their retirement. Same could be said of health care, where lifetime self-abusers are now fully-funded by tax-paying stiffs. Zero accountability...
@raynus1 You raise some good points. I think there should be an opt-out option on the CPP, however, we live in a consumer based economy, where the average Canadian is over $100,000 in debt ($26,000 excluding mortgages). People have, on average, 3 credit cards, and almost half of people don't even know how much the rate of interest credit card companies are charging. Do you honestly think that in a culture people who can't spend within their means will be able to save up on their own for .....
@raynus1 ...*people will be able to save up on their own for retirement? People are too short sighted to stop buying unnecessary purchases with credit cards, let alone save up for retirement that's 30 or 40 years in the future. We've been raised on a principle of zero financial responsibility. Have debt? Pay it off with another card. Want a 65" flatscreen? Throw it on my Visa.
I'm totally on board with universal health care (as is the rest of the industrialised world). You may be surprised...
@raynus1 to find that the world isn't split between the hard-working people who can afford health care and lifetime self-abusers who rely on the state for financial support. Unemployment is at 7% in Canada, and despite the ultra-conservative belief in a just world, it is not always because people are sitting on their asses expecting welfare. Without universal health care, the result is what the US is going through: approximately 50 million people without health insurance who can't afford...
@raynus1 medical assistance because it costs way too fucking much money. (Here's a tidbit: more money per person is spent on healthcare in the US than any other country. On Earth. What a great system!) I know you operate on black-white dichotomies, so saying that the world isn't split between hard-working good citizens and lethargic, self-abusing, drug-addicted bums probably won't have any effect on you whatsoever. I just wanted to get it out. And here you display your ignorance to the goals ..
@raynus1 of the OWS movement. A quick google search by yourself would really make you look like less of an idiot. Believe it or not, most sympathisers of the movement (based on a survey of the OWS webiste) showed that 70% of website users were independents. Not socialists (oh how the US has conditioned you into thinking that socialism is a bad thing). OWS is actually protesting against the growing economic inequality, increased corporate influence in government (google search: pizza is a ....
@raynus1 vegetable), high unemployment (see: Verizon pays -2.9% federal income tax and still cuts jobs by the 10 thousands), and greed. For example, the US government payed $223 BILLION DOLLARS in subsidies to profitable FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES between 2008 and 2010. Please explain to me why profitable Fortune 500 companies need subsidies from the taxpayers. What we have now clearly IS NOT WORKING. Unemployment in the US is at 9% and the people are still paying corporations money. How can you...
@raynus1 say that less government involvement is a good thing when the government is bailing out corporations on the taxpayers' dollar? That's backwards as fuck.
On the environment: at the rate the planet is going, climatic trends would result in a lot of devastation, particularly in third world countries. In North America climate change really wouldn't have that much of a negative impact but it could result in flooding and loss of crop production in Europe, agriculture and access to food ....
@raynus1 in Africa would decline dramatically, loss of clean water availability and an increased death rate due to diseases from floods and droughts in Asia.
But who gives a shit, right? It's not happening here (that seems to be the current attitude in the live-and-let-die capitalistic system we currently have).
And believe it or not, we can access and exploit resources in a more environmentally friendly manner. Just because we need to be less harmful to the environment doesn't mean ....
@raynus1 we have to abandon the development and acquisition of natural resources. And there you go again with the dichotomised thinking; no, environmentally friendly behaviour does not mean abandoning all current methods of living and transportation. It simply means finding new solutions to current problems, something that people with education are currently attempting. So many straw man fallacies ...
Military: when was the last time there was a land invasion of Canada? Do you think that ...
@raynus1 with the current economy being the way it is (as so many people like to use as an excuse) that spending 9 billion dollars on old fighter jets is the best use of money?
Bill C10 is being rejected by the US. Hell, even Texas thinks that the bill is too extreme. TEXAS. If you're so concerned about taxpayer-funded programs leeching too much money from the populace, think of how much money would be wasted by building more federal prisons and wasting EVEN MORE money on a failed system of...
@raynus1 punishment rather than prevention. Crime rates are the lowest they've been since the 70s. WHY DO WE NEED THIS BILL? WHY DO WE NEED MORE PRISONS? Harper is simply labelling more things federal offences to justify building prisons. What has the war on drugs accomplished, besides sucking taxpayers' money out of their wallets for a useless cause? Absolutely nothing. It clearly IS NOT WORKING. Jesus. Prohibition creates more problems than it solves, this has been shown time and time again.
@raynus1 Harper is banking on his fictionalised account of public support for the passage of this bill, and is trying his hardest to rush it through parliament. Why the rush? He's got 4 years. That raises some red flags. The CBA suggests the bill would run contrary to what it takes to lead a safer society. Systems that place punishment before prevention have failed time and time again. THIS WILL NOT ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING. Criminals need rehabilitation. I don't know why that is so hard to ....
@raynus1 comprehend. "More young Canadians will spend months in custodial centres before trial, thanks to Bill C-10. Experience has shown that's where they have their criminal behaviour reinforced; only when diverted to community options are they more likely to be reformed." It costs approximately $100,000 to jail someone for a year. How's that for wasted taxpayers money? Making it a federal offence to possess marijuana (which should be legalised, Christ, it's 2011) would be a tremendous...
@raynus1 waste of taxpayer money. C10 will probably cost a fuckload of money. And you're worried about socialists taking your money away? I'll be paying for the stupidest fucking bill in recent Canadian history, and paying a lot.
Haha. Think about the children (it's called an appeal to emotion, by the way)! Your argument is so full of fallacies and short-sightedness I don't even know why I've bothered with you. You call me a "simpleton" but at least I've got the brains to think critically..
@raynus1 about social situations and government. You passively accept everything passed, and believe everything the mainstream media tosses at you. Who's the "simpleton" again?
@wbrycem: Bah. Those protesting C-10 are more concerned about losing their 'right' to smoke pot than anything else. Potheads and peddlars have the most to fear, and rightfully so. No, MJ should NOT be legalized. It's a damaging narcotic that turns people into lazy, hygenically-challenged, learning-disabled bums. Sorry..travelled with that crowd once. Saw the effects first hand. The OWS movement is much different than the eclectic gang of scruffians camping out in Canadian parks. Good grief...
B) C-10 flies in the face of years of research proving that punishment does not reduce crime.
C) If people are starving for jobs, then why is there so much downsizing going on? For example: HSBC have plans to cut 25,000 employees ... and save millions if not billions. It's bottom dollar over employee economics.
D) I had a friend looking for a summer job one year, and Wal-Mart and McDonald's would not hire him. He was a university student looking for part-time..
@raynus1 summer employment, and was denied because both could employ people for less money and fewer hours per week (less hours of employment = less benefits to pay out to)
E) I was told a college degree would mean I wasn't relegated to flipping burgers ... many people get college degrees with the reasonable expectation of a job that isn't in the fast food industry, and rightfully so. I didn't sacrifice 5 years of my life to work at a job a 15 year old can. ... in the US, there literally.....
@raynus1 aren't enough jobs to employ everyone. Also, there are expectations (or at least predictions) of a recession in 2012. The economy literally is in the tank.
F) Many people DO endure tough times ... I read in a textbook recently that 27.8% of children will experience poverty at one point before they're 13. ... is that tough enough?
G) Any country needs a military, obviously, however now really isn't the prime time to be spending billions of dollars on fighter jets ... there are more ...
@raynus1 pressing economical concerns at hand. Especially since there are no threats of a land invasion of Canada .... I think I could sleep well without Harper spending 9 billion on old planes.
@wbrycem It was a pleasure reading your side of the argument. It's refreshing to read comments that are well articulated and thought-out. Critical thinking should really be taught more in schools!
@wbrycem..the very reasons you cite about the virtues of Canadian society, combined with a paltry 7% unemployment, should be proof-positive enough that these lowlifes have zero to 'protest' about. They're lazy drug-addled dregs...or unionistas who want us all to exist at the same level of misery. Why is it that companies in our sector are starving for employees? Potential employees that would step into entry-level $60K+ jobs? People. Don't. Want. To. Work. College grads..
@wbrycem ..expect to step into high-compensation positions without ever once having to do any practical labor. We've set ourselves up for failure by making things too easy for people. We need tough times. People need to scratch a living out of the dirt and re-learn how to manage their money. They need to get off the massive public teat we've created. Time for a major reality check. With any luck, we'll see a global depression. People eating gophers and pigweed ala 1930's. Those who...
@wbrycem ...are prepared will survive. Those who haven't will receive a much-overdue wake-up call. It is understandable that progressives despise all things military, but I personally sleep better knowing that the democracy in which I live has some military capability. 'Old' fighter jets (actually, the questionable new F-35 is just entering service with US forces), are any nation's front-line military tool, whether it be used defensively or offensively. Canada, forty-odd years ago, had roughly
@wbrycem ...@wbrycem ...400 combat jets in service. I don't think 65 replacements for our well-worn 30 year-old fleet of CF-18's is an outrageous expectation, even at the $17B price tag (In terms of percentage of Canada's $1.3T GDP, it is a realistic expenditure, especially when spread out over an anticipated 30 year service life).
@wbrycem ..At any rate, your arguments are well-articulated, and once upon a time I would've agreed with much of what you advertise. But sorry bud..two decades of post-graduate workplace reality have turned me into the myopic a-hole that I am. I have little in the way of compassion for spoiled, deadbeat, lazy-assed people looking for handouts...especially Canadians.
...is the way of the do-gooding socialist marauders who strive for a society where one group works their asses off to support the lethargy of another. Time to turn water hoses on the protesting bums camped out & dropping deuces on public property because they're protesting one thing: having to earn a living. As to the purchase of fighter aircraft, do I really have to explain why a resource-rich, low population density country needs to have an effective military? Boo-hoo about how the 'other'
..countries view our environmental record as laughable..who are they, exactly? China? Russia? India? the USA? Now THAT"S laughable. I really don't care what the leeching parasitic enviro-kooks say. We have a right to develop our own resources as we see fit. It's our agenda, not theirs. Our country experiences sub-freezing temperatures for half the year. You with me? Go live in cave and cook over an open fire if you must, but I intend on burning fossil fuels and driving to work each day.
And Bill C-10...personally, I like the idea of mandatory minimum sentences, especially for drug users and peddlars. Build mega-prisons and fill them to the ceiling with lowlifes I say. Cram 'em full. They can start by rounding up the filthy neer-do-wells squatting around the Occupy camps and smoking their stupid shit. They're unproductive. They stink and they break the law daily. If they're in prison, at least our children don't have to be exposed to society's bottom-feeders.
@raynus1 Yea? And get ready for the subsequent increase in taxes to pay for the prisons jammed with new inmates. I agree with getting 'tough on crime' but this legislation is going to cause some serious problems within corrections in Canada.
Trudeau at least cared about Canada, the way it was run, and was an ahole to people he needed to be an ahole to. Unlike that complete nimrod we currently have. WTF people? How could you vote that idiot in for a majority gov't? 2011 marks the year where Harper tells the Canadians to go f#k themselves, he doesn't care about clean air, water, or changes in the climate. Ask the scientists, biologists and meterologists he fired a few weeks ago.
got that right Trudeau was a unformal unpoliticaly correct an educated man but also a dumb ass prime minister But I respect the man if not the politician He wasnt accepting any concession Nixon was a Bastard president and it was the way for PET to show it to him got love and hate for this man
@dartagnanlevrai I don't know where you are reading your information, but Trudeau was an educated and i'm not a liberal, but he was a solid anchor in this countries political strength. I don't follow the downfalls of american idiots, there is many , but to trash trudeau that's not necessary he has children you know and he is a well respected canadian.
this is a gem. thanks for posting it. I barely know anything about canadian politics, as I am a fanny-pack/shape-ups wearing american. but it made me smile, seeing this random clip of lennon
Yeah Trudeau. Way ahead of his time. That is something that could never be said about the dumb ass conservatives. Harper is the worst PM Canada has ever had. He's even worse than Mulroney and that takes some doing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@luvdastuf trudeau was a disgusting idiot. A dolt, if you will. He abolished the death penalty, which is a necessary consequence for assholes like you to feel the pain of. Honestly, meeting with a communist oppressor and hitler-like hypocrite doesn't really make him a hero. More a fool. I don't know HOW Canada has managed to survive with welfare freaks like you who believe that it is the government's responsibility to look after you when in fact it's yours. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY YOU ASSHOLE!
@BubbsBubbles F you u piece of garbage. Trudeau was a man. and he was a decent politician as decent as politicians get. and he grew a beard and a bigger penis than you.. Also you are a disgusting idiot. and why the hell do you jews bring up hitler any chance you get? all he did was trick wanna be forskin thiefs into going into a room. and u want the deathpenlty? make up ur mind shit stain. with ur shit stained underpants and no gf, ever.
@voidremoved I never said anything that contradicted my opinion of the death penalty. And yes, Trudeau was a man. And yes, he does have a bigger penis and a beard because he is OLDER THAN ME. I'm not quite that old yet. Who said I was a Jew? Anyone who doesn't like a conservative is either libertarian or liberal. Seeing that most liberals hate Hitler, I mentioned him in order to get to luvdastuf. Hitler did WHAT to the Jews? "trick wanna be forskin thiefs into going into a room" <-- Excuse me?
Lennon is quite the spin master here - "Talk is the basic start of all communication." "We can't be too specific because we talked in generalizations." Who answers questions like that? LOL
@ikeusa They all answered questions in riddles back then and in the early 60s, it was the bohemian way lol. Any interview with Bob Dillon or Leonard Cohen was like that. It would be perceived as and immature arrogance today really. It's like saying, It's a riddle, you figure it out. Today's age of technology and communication we've moved way beyond the mysteries of yesterday.
@moonchild678 You nutjob!!! I lived next to the Trudeaus. What are you on??? Margaret was a bi-polar nighmare. Justin is doing a good job. He knows his mothe was a nut-job. As for the "main-man" Trudeau....my family has dealt with him. Yeah. He had "dreams" ....Used to sleep in winter with the heat off and windows open with wolf skins. Drove Margaret mad.....
Being a liberal back then was cool. You were tolerant. You let everyone have their say.
Being a Liberal now is not. I am not a Liberal now because being a liberal means you are a radical left-wing intolerant elitist. Anyone who does not agree with you is being labelled as being a right-wing "hate-monger" even if they are not. They have become what they despise!
i would have loved to see john growing out of his hippie age, breaking up with Yoko, and maybe making some good music with paul again, in special appearances and stuff like that. Wouldnt that be great?
it aint the sixties any more and these elitist have had their day. I would rather be naive and dead than complicit. John lennons already done that one though.
John Lennon, through no real fault of his own (a victim himself of the manipulated age of the 60's) ended up promoting a concept of 'peace and love' which was all about fashion, slogans, hedonism etc which quickly became just another form of branding and consumerism.
Given the 60's (and the peace movement) started out far more intelligently, he perhaps helped dumb down opposition to war and further the NWO agenda for decades to come ... right up until today (post 9/11)
@criticaleverywhere I totally disagree, Lennon was taken out because he was a threat to the establishment. He was promoting non compliance and non participation in the hate filled war machine of the NWO. He had the profile to make change because he was loved and respected across the planet.
@breando1 I agree with you, even though you are disagreeing with my previous comment. ;)
I just find it interesting how contradictory the whole 60's thing was. To me it was inspiring yet insipid, revolutionary yet cringworthy, innovative yet laboured, liberating yet hopelessly controlled (you get the picture..)
You're right about the high profile which made him dangerous (see also: MJ). I guess that's why they are so keen to fill youth culture with MK'd or sold out puppets......sigh
Hey, you just TOTALLY expressed how I feel about that era and Lennon's / the Beatles' role in it. Glad I'm not the only one with this perception, so far I have never really got any sort of confirmation confirming this long-held hunch.
I am interested in using this footage for a school presentation I am making, and I would like your permission to use parts of this footage for it. No monetary gain will come out of it, I will not claim the works as my own, nor will it be displayed other than to my class. I will give all credit for the video as required. If you do not wish for me to use it, I understand completely and will respect your wishes.
@OkamiGohan Dude, the person who posted this video doesn't own it either. Technically CBC does, but I'm pretty sure since it is archival footage, it might not be copyrighted.
HOWEVER, in general, if you're just showing the movie to your class and your not making money, then you don't need permission. You could use any clip from anywhere for any reason. It's all fair game cause you aren't selling it.
@picklemanhehe It was a requirement for the class for me to ask permission from everything I used. I was to pretend we lived in a perfect world where everyone only posts what is their possession. Thanks for the consideration though.
Remember, people, this meeting happened when Nixon was President. Nixon and his cronies and the CIA hated Lennon. Trudeau was giving Nixon and Nixon's hacks the middle finger by meeting with John and Yoko. Also by having a friendship with Fidel Castro until he (Trudeau) died. Castro was at Trudeau's funeral. Trudeau had balls. Also, he was a man of peace, as was John and Yoko, so, not surprising they got along so well.
To say that he isn't means you're a Quebecois separatist who begs money from the government while you steal Newfoundland's power as your own. he stood up to people, which is a hell of a lot better now than the pushover Steve Harper.
@TheRimDoctor your all right when you talk about Harper and you can say that the Liberal in Québec is the most corrupt minister in history...i agree...but i dont vote for those morrons.....by the way we dont steal any power from the Newfie's....
@assclouwn Well the Churchill falls problem, which was signed in the 60's when power was cheap and the dollar was worth more, now has Newfoundland trapped in a deal where we make less and less money while Quebec sells it to america for exponentially higher prices, and Quebec refuses to discuss the matter or negotiate with us. At least Danny Williams secured Lower churchill and saved NB from the hands of Hydro Quebec. Anyways, not trying to start a debate, or say anything against you.
@assclouwn - true dat. I'm from Manitoba. And a life-long NDPer. I've voted Liberal 2 times in my life, both strategic votes to keep the Conservatives out. And Trudeau WAS a man of peace. And he is one of the most admired Prime Ministers in history. That's something you're gonna have to live with ......... asshole ...... you must be a separatist. Probably an FLQ sympathizer. You wanna leave? Leave. Leave your Federal subsidies behind.
@ApocalypsePlough Of course i wanna leave canada, with all the federal subsidies,Westmount and all the Mohawks.....by the way...yeah im separatist, proud to be,but im not a FLQ sympathizer...anyway...go back to your Jonh Deer tractors!!!!
Stop the bitching, you bunch of morons. Pierre Trudeau was one of the most respected head of state (from a sadly retarded country) in his time and John Lennon was the most influential artist of his time. They met together, so what?
@045781 HAHAHAHAHAHA Look. I have no qualms about the fact that he accomplished a lot with his fame and music career (who's music I'm actually not a huge fan of BTW), but the comments in this interview bring out some truly amazing colors. A lot of words, yet he managed to say a whole lot of nothing. Yeah, I suppose that does take some skill.... But not the kind I would commend.
All in all, Trudeau was brave enough to receive him. Most politicians would avoid him as they were scared of what might come out : John would not always stick to the imposed "diplomatic protocol" he was unpredictable...
You know what? I just watched this again..and this "important" visit was so compltely useless and such a load of SHIT!!!! OH the Hypocrisy!!!! What a TOOL he was and he knew it. He just went along with it for the money!
@Inlander3. Irrational such people may be. But the development of irrational principle is often helped by the perception of a thing. Americans do themselves no service by being loud, dumb, and pushy on every stage. Not that they're the only ones.
Children, there was a time when great minds walked the earth. It's a sad realization to think that everything has been downgraded, from the music to the politics. On the other hand, whilst Trudeau was making talk with the likes of Lennon, Margaret was making hay with the likes of Keith Richard. Oh well.
@gcwbr1 Trudeau had comuunist tendencies. He was a Liberal. He was buddies with Castro. His wife Margaret would go on drunken benders with him (among other things) . That's why he had enough of her and divorced her. I honestly think if John would have lived he would have been intelligent enough to have wisened up. Or maybe he was already lost. He should have stayed in England.
I love John's songs, but his verbal obfuscation is muddled nonsense. SNL did a great skit on this, in which John came back from the dead to speak with his fans and he just kept turning their words around until they were all bored and walked away. He should have stuck with music instead of faking insight.
i love how the 2 top comments are giving trudeau praise and bashing harper

If you're so concerned about taxpayer-funded programs leeching too much money from the populace, think of how much money would be wasted by building more federal prisons and wasting EVEN MORE money on a failed system of...
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 punishment rather than prevention. Crime rates are the lowest they've been since the 70s. WHY DO WE NEED THIS BILL? WHY DO WE NEED MORE PRISONS? Harper is simply labelling more things federal offences to justify building prisons. What has the war on drugs accomplished, besides sucking taxpayers' money out of their wallets for a useless cause? Absolutely nothing. It clearly IS NOT WORKING. Jesus. Prohibition creates more problems than it solves, this has been shown time and time again.
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 Harper is banking on his fictionalised account of public support for the passage of this bill, and is trying his hardest to rush it through parliament. Why the rush? He's got 4 years. That raises some red flags. The CBA suggests the bill would run contrary to what it takes to lead a safer society. Systems that place punishment before prevention have failed time and time again. THIS WILL NOT ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING. Criminals need rehabilitation. I don't know why that is so hard to ....
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 comprehend. "More young Canadians will spend months in custodial centres before trial, thanks to Bill C-10. Experience has shown that's where they have their criminal behaviour reinforced; only when diverted to community options are they more likely to be reformed." It costs approximately $100,000 to jail someone for a year. How's that for wasted taxpayers money? Making it a federal offence to possess marijuana (which should be legalised, Christ, it's 2011) would be a tremendous...
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 waste of taxpayer money. C10 will probably cost a fuckload of money. And you're worried about socialists taking your money away? I'll be paying for the stupidest fucking bill in recent Canadian history, and paying a lot.
Haha. Think about the children (it's called an appeal to emotion, by the way)! Your argument is so full of fallacies and short-sightedness I don't even know why I've bothered with you. You call me a "simpleton" but at least I've got the brains to think critically..
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 about social situations and government. You passively accept everything passed, and believe everything the mainstream media tosses at you. Who's the "simpleton" again?
wbrycem 2 months ago
@wbrycem: Bah. Those protesting C-10 are more concerned about losing their 'right' to smoke pot than anything else. Potheads and peddlars have the most to fear, and rightfully so. No, MJ should NOT be legalized. It's a damaging narcotic that turns people into lazy, hygenically-challenged, learning-disabled bums. Sorry..travelled with that crowd once. Saw the effects first hand. The OWS movement is much different than the eclectic gang of scruffians camping out in Canadian parks. Good grief...
raynus1 2 months ago
@raynus1 A) pot is not a narcotic
He was a university student looking for part-time..
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 summer employment, and was denied because both could employ people for less money and fewer hours per week (less hours of employment = less benefits to pay out to)
E) I was told a college degree would mean I wasn't relegated to flipping burgers ... many people get college degrees with the reasonable expectation of a job that isn't in the fast food industry, and rightfully so. I didn't sacrifice 5 years of my life to work at a job a 15 year old can. ... in the US, there literally.....
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 aren't enough jobs to employ everyone. Also, there are expectations (or at least predictions) of a recession in 2012. The economy literally is in the tank.
F) Many people DO endure tough times ... I read in a textbook recently that 27.8% of children will experience poverty at one point before they're 13. ... is that tough enough?
G) Any country needs a military, obviously, however now really isn't the prime time to be spending billions of dollars on fighter jets ... there are more ...
wbrycem 2 months ago
@raynus1 pressing economical concerns at hand. Especially since there are no threats of a land invasion of Canada .... I think I could sleep well without Harper spending 9 billion on old planes.
H) anyways ... peace. Agree to disagree.

People. Don't. Want. To. Work. College grads..
raynus1 2 months ago
@wbrycem ..expect to step into high-compensation positions without ever once having to do any practical labor. We've set ourselves up for failure by making things too easy for people. We need tough times. People need to scratch a living out of the dirt and re-learn how to manage their money. They need to get off the massive public teat we've created. Time for a major reality check. With any luck, we'll see a global depression. People eating gophers and pigweed ala 1930's. Those who...
raynus1 2 months ago
@wbrycem ...are prepared will survive. Those who haven't will receive a much-overdue wake-up call. It is understandable that progressives despise all things military, but I personally sleep better knowing that the democracy in which I live has some military capability. 'Old' fighter jets (actually, the questionable new F-35 is just entering service with US forces), are any nation's front-line military tool, whether it be used defensively or offensively. Canada, forty-odd years ago, had roughly
raynus1 2 months ago
@wbrycem ...@wbrycem ...400 combat jets in service. I don't think 65 replacements for our well-worn 30 year-old fleet of CF-18's is an outrageous expectation, even at the $17B price tag (In terms of percentage of Canada's $1.3T GDP, it is a realistic expenditure, especially when spread out over an anticipated 30 year service life).
raynus1 2 months ago
@wbrycem ..At any rate, your arguments are well-articulated, and once upon a time I would've agreed with much of what you advertise. But sorry bud..two decades of post-graduate workplace reality have turned me into the myopic a-hole that I am. I have little in the way of compassion for spoiled, deadbeat, lazy-assed people looking for handouts...especially Canadians.
raynus1 2 months ago
...is the way of the do-gooding socialist marauders who strive for a society where one group works their asses off to support the lethargy of another. Time to turn water hoses on the protesting bums camped out & dropping deuces on public property because they're protesting one thing: having to earn a living. As to the purchase of fighter aircraft, do I really have to explain why a resource-rich, low population density country needs to have an effective military? Boo-hoo about how the 'other'
raynus1 2 months ago
..countries view our environmental record as laughable..who are they, exactly? China? Russia? India? the USA? Now THAT"S laughable. I really don't care what the leeching parasitic enviro-kooks say. We have a right to develop our own resources as we see fit. It's our agenda, not theirs. Our country experiences sub-freezing temperatures for half the year. You with me? Go live in cave and cook over an open fire if you must, but I intend on burning fossil fuels and driving to work each day.
raynus1 2 months ago
And Bill C-10...personally, I like the idea of mandatory minimum sentences, especially for drug users and peddlars. Build mega-prisons and fill them to the ceiling with lowlifes I say. Cram 'em full. They can start by rounding up the filthy neer-do-wells squatting around the Occupy camps and smoking their stupid shit. They're unproductive. They stink and they break the law daily. If they're in prison, at least our children don't have to be exposed to society's bottom-feeders.
raynus1 2 months ago
@raynus1 Yea? And get ready for the subsequent increase in taxes to pay for the prisons jammed with new inmates. I agree with getting 'tough on crime' but this legislation is going to cause some serious problems within corrections in Canada.

True/ false/ discuss?
criticaleverywhere 11 months ago 2
@criticaleverywhere I totally disagree, Lennon was taken out because he was a threat to the establishment. He was promoting non compliance and non participation in the hate filled war machine of the NWO. He had the profile to make change because he was loved and respected across the planet.
breando1 11 months ago 2
@breando1 I agree with you, even though you are disagreeing with my previous comment. ;)
I just find it interesting how contradictory the whole 60's thing was. To me it was inspiring yet insipid, revolutionary yet cringworthy, innovative yet laboured, liberating yet hopelessly controlled (you get the picture..)
You're right about the high profile which made him dangerous (see also: MJ). I guess that's why they are so keen to fill youth culture with MK'd or sold out puppets......sigh
Peace!
criticaleverywhere 11 months ago 2
@criticaleverywhere Well you're right, the 60's were highjacked and manipulated especially the drug scene via the LSD labs of the CIA.
Their bullshit hold over us will end eventually (I hope!)

I am interested in using this footage for a school presentation I am making, and I would like your permission to use parts of this footage for it. No monetary gain will come out of it, I will not claim the works as my own, nor will it be displayed other than to my class. I will give all credit for the video as required. My thanks for a prompt response.

I love John's songs, but his verbal obfuscation is muddled nonsense. SNL did a great skit on this, in which John came back from the dead to speak with his fans and he just kept turning their words around until they were all bored and walked away. He should have stuck with music instead of faking insight.

Imagine there's was no John Lennon.
It's easy if you try...
But if you've ever heard Yoko sing, you'll never be able to forget her however much you want to!
