yeah and the only reason why it soes that is cuz its mac!, and if u knew anithink you can download this shit called iAtkos which will run mac snow lepard on an amd thats wat ive done with my tx2 and best of all the mulitouch works with SL too so it best of everythng!
Probably nothing. HP gives retail and online units slightly different numbers. The tx2000 series has been discontinued and replaced by the tx2500 series though, so it's mostly a moot point...
None. The tx2000 is the general name for all tx20xx. The tx2051 is a a pre-configured version of the tx2000. If you customize a tx2000, it will be called tx2000CTO.
The tx2500 is the newer version of the tx2051. I don't know what the tx1041 is. Go to HP's Web site and do your own research - that's the best way to learn.
Ah hi TynciDog i have toshiba sattelite and and i was searching for something i found "tablet pc settings"i got quite interested and are having trouble if my laptop can act as a tablet or not.thanks.(i h ave vista btw)
i already have the tx2524ca and all that has the tx2 in plus is the multi touch and i will not spend this money just for one finger in plus to use... inutility release...
what is the difference between the HP Pavilion tx2500z series and the HP TouchSmart tx2z series is the only difference in price or is there much more???
He said the TX2z which is the refresh of the TX2500z - not the IQseries which is the destktop. TX2z supports multitouch, and uses ATi 3200HD vid chip = better video performance, less power drain, less heat less faulty issues on GeForce 6150 (I've already experienced Extended Warranty Mobo replacement on my dv2404ca laptop).
rednose91: My suggestion to you is that you find an online forum for tx2000 users and ask your question there. I no longer have this laptop, so I can't answer questions as specific as yours.
I really want to buy a tablet laptop like yours, but what bothers me the most is the screen size 12.1". Is there a bigger screen size like 14" or 15"? When will HP make bigger screen size?
I had to send the tx2051 back to HP, so I can't really answer questions about the battery life. There are other reviews online that talk about the battery life.
hi how long does the 4 cell battery last and also the 8 cell battery just bought on i had advent 4211 sold it on ebay £290 and saved my pennies another £300.00 bought TX2500 will be used for my learnkey courses :)
I enjoy your reviews. I like to know more about the gadget before i buy them and hearing feedbacks from you guys helps a lot. Hope you continue your non bias reviews.
Yeah, yeah, you got me. ;-) I feel pretty stupid I got that so wrong - but hey, I do completely off-the-cuff videos with no pre-planning, so things like this are going to happen. ;-)
Sure, you can play some games. It really depends on the game - you won't be playing Crysis on this. The newer tx2500 series notebooks have bigger graphics firepower than the tx2000 series, so they'd be better at games.
Hi dude great review i was wondering because my dad said he would buy me a new laptop and i was wondering if i should get the hp tx2500z or the hp pavilion dv9000 series. Also im a mid-user, gamer and im average pc user. And let me point out that my first laptop was a hp compaq tc4200 that well got some motherboard issues and i stored it because i didn't want to damage it more. So my tc4200 did well for about 3 yrs but i want to ask you if i should get the hp tx2500z or the hp dv9000.
Well, that's a tough one: the tx2500 and the dv9000 are completely different laptops. One has a 12" screen, one has a 17" screen. One is a Tablet PC, one is not. One is big and heavy, one is small and fairly light. So I'd say the #1 question you have to ask yourself is how much portability matters to you. If it does, then get the tx2500.
does anyone know the difference between the tx2000 and the tx2100? My shop in the uk has sold both of them, so i am left confused. As i was under the impression that the model numbers were for different countries :S
I looked up the tx2100 and couldn't see any differences between it and the one that I have other than it has 2 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB of RAM. The reality is that if you can't tell the difference, there probably isn't one. :-)
The tx2000 is the series number, and there are different tx2xxx versions. This tx2051 retails for about $1750 USD, but there are some versions of the tx2000 that are closer to $1000. Go to HP's Web site and configure one for yourself and you'll see. :-)
Hey thanks for answering. I've already done that, I have been like 2 weeks on the hp's website trying to configure mine. I've realized that this one is very expensive compared to the tx2000z that hp is offering me. I want one and I just wanna be sure what to buy. If you have more information about "tx2xxx" :D versions, it would be hepful! Thanks a lot
I'll give you same advice I give everyone else: set a budget that's right for you, and get the best laptop you can configure for that budget. Think about what you need, and what's important to spend money on. Vista Ultimate isn't worth the money, that's for sure - go for Vista Premium, 2 GB or 3 GB RAM, and the CPU and hard drive will depend on what you're going to do with it - but remember hard drives can be upgraded later, CPUs can't.
I guess that depends on what you're comparing it with. I have a 7200 RPM 200 GB drive in my XPS M1330, but this laptop also cost me about $2500. This HP unit has a bigger (albeit slower) hard drive, more RAM than I got with the Dell, and the same Mhz of CPU (though the Intel CPU in the M1330 is faster overall) - and it's more than $1000 less than what I paid for my Dell. Compared to your average laptop, this HP unit has impressive specifications.
I should add though that specifications to not a great laptop make - I'll evaluate the laptop based on real-world use, not how it looks on paper. And would I rather see an Intel CPU in there? Yeah, you bet. 7200 RPM drive? Sure - but perhaps not if it really hurt battery life. Laptops are all about trade-offs.
Price or not, these are not impressive specifications. For the same reason you can't say a Kia Rio is more impressive than the Lexus, just because it's cheaper....sigh.
Well, you're welcome to your opinion of course, but when I've told people about the specs on this laptop, the looks on their faces tell me they're impressed. You have to keep in mind Joe Average is probably still rocking a Windows XP, Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, 512 MB or 1 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive laptop. Compared to his laptop this laptop DOES have better specs. Maybe your point would make more sense to me if you explained what kind of a laptop you're comparing this hp tx2051 to?
i was impressed by the specs considering a relative has just bought a 17" HP laptop recently with the same specs for the same price.
Slightly better graphics in the 17" in the form of the GeForce 8400, however for other uses getting the same performance and a touch screen for the same price is pretty nice, albeit a smaller screen.
I should add that the thing I thought was the WiFi antenna was actually the stylus - I got misled by the diagram inside the package. All sorted out now. :-)
The 8-cell is pretty heavy - I don't have the exact weight, but I'll see if I can calculate it for the actual video review that I'll be doing later after using it for a while. I'll definitely talk about the size/weight of the 8 cell battery, because I think it's just a bit too big.

however. i like to draw on the screen while its in portable mode

is there a way to create shortcuts on the side panel to better help me navigate through photoshop? :-)

Hi there. I'm looking towards some HP tablet pc.
With this particular model, can I touch the screen with my finger? (like iPhone)
And do you know if the newest 2500 series can? (select things on the screen with a finger, and screel up and down with it).
Thanks.

Yes, you can use your finger on the screen if you don't want to use the stylus, both on the tx2051 and the newer tx2500.

In all fairness, I don't think an AMD X2 CPU and 5400 RPM hard drive are all that impressive to today's standards.
