  • does this have a cd drive

  • power pc 2000 machintos :DDD damn it happened back there ... power pc g3 check it out ... i still have it

  • ThoughtsMedia, This video rocks.

  • wow macbook pro wns over dat soooooooo badly

  • yeah and the only reason why it soes that is cuz its mac!, and if u knew anithink you can download this shit called iAtkos which will run mac snow lepard on an amd thats wat ive done with my tx2 and best of all the mulitouch works with SL too so it best of everythng!

  • kinda ugly ? , i don't like it , that's my opinion , and yours might be different than mine

  • whats the difference between this and the tx2000?

  • Probably nothing. HP gives retail and online units slightly different numbers. The tx2000 series has been discontinued and replaced by the tx2500 series though, so it's mostly a moot point...

    - Jason

  • None. The tx2000 is the general name for all tx20xx. The tx2051 is a a pre-configured version of the tx2000. If you customize a tx2000, it will be called tx2000CTO.

  • Graphic Card?

  • im pretty sure its the ATI radeon HD 3200

  • I really looked forward a NVIDIA 9300+

  • im not realy sure cause most of there other tablets have the ATI HD 3200 jsut check on google

  • can u plz help me?

i don't get what the difference is between the tx 2500 and the tx 2051 and apparantly the tx 1041??????

    please help

    so confused

  • The tx2500 is the newer version of the tx2051. I don't know what the tx1041 is. Go to HP's Web site and do your own research - that's the best way to learn.

    -Jason

  • The stylus doubles as a wifi antenna.

  • Nah, you're just making fun of me for getting it wrong. ;-)

    - Jason

  • i got 9 cell battery on my Toshiba Sattellite A305-S6872

  • Ah hi TynciDog i have toshiba sattelite and and i was searching for something i found "tablet pc settings"i got quite interested and are having trouble if my laptop can act as a tablet or not.thanks.(i h ave vista btw)

  • unboxing electronics = good view count :P

    btw, i'm loving my tx2500z.

  • hump out lol

  • i already have the tx2524ca and all that has the tx2 in plus is the multi touch and i will not spend this money just for one finger in plus to use... inutility release...

  • nice macs are gay friendly reminder.

  • what is the difference between the HP Pavilion tx2500z series and the HP TouchSmart tx2z series is the only difference in price or is there much more???

  • The TouchSmart PC is a large desktop computer - they're quite different.

    - Jason

  • He said the TX2z which is the refresh of the TX2500z - not the IQseries which is the destktop. TX2z supports multitouch, and uses ATi 3200HD vid chip = better video performance, less power drain, less heat less faulty issues on GeForce 6150 (I've already experienced Extended Warranty Mobo replacement on my dv2404ca laptop).

  • Ah, thanks Jaggabone - I forgot about that unit! I haven't seen it in person and don't know that much about it. Thanks for the breakdown!

    - Jason

  • Anytime man.

  • Hi :-)

Im a graphic desighner and do alot of work in photoshop

    I use the tx2000

and am very satisfied with the stylus integration with cs2

however. i like to draw on the screen while its in portable mode

    (on its back)

is there a way to create shortcuts on the side panel to better help me navigate through photoshop? :-)

an "undo" "deselect" "alt" and "zoom" key on the panel would be really helpful :-)

    plz help me :-)

  • rednose91: My suggestion to you is that you find an online forum for tx2000 users and ask your question there. I no longer have this laptop, so I can't answer questions as specific as yours.

    - Jason

  • tx2z supports multi-touch

  • Hi there. I'm looking towards some HP tablet pc.

With this particular model, can I touch the screen with my finger? (like iPhone)

And do you know if the newest 2500 series can? (select things on the screen with a finger, and screel up and down with it).

    Thanks.

  • Yes, you can use your finger on the screen if you don't want to use the stylus, both on the tx2051 and the newer tx2500.

    - Jason

  • The newest model is the tx 2525, i just got it.

  • idk if anyone has ever used one but do you reccomend the 13inch lifebook tablet over this or is this better?

  • I haven't used the Fujitsu Lifebook tablet, so I can't offer any comparison...

    - Jason

  • CAN I USE INTUOS3 PEN with the TX?

  • I'm not sure - I don't have an Intuos tablet.

    - Jason

  • i cannot wait to get this laptop

it has a freekin fingerprint scanner

  • thanks for the video, really cool

I'm bidding for one on ebay

    hopefully i win it

  • why'd you send it back to HP?

  • The hardware was defective - it has a strange video-related problem.

    - Jason

  • I really want to buy a tablet laptop like yours, but what bothers me the most is the screen size 12.1". Is there a bigger screen size like 14" or 15"? When will HP make bigger screen size?

  • HP has no Tablet PCs bigger than 12.1" inches.

    - Jason

  • what video card does it use?

  • It says right there in the side bar: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 GPU.

    - Jason

  • that wi-fi thing u said was actually the stylus

  • Yeah, I realized that later - whoops. ;-)

    - Jason

  • roughly what are you getting from your bat thank for info and good review

  • I had to send the tx2051 back to HP, so I can't really answer questions about the battery life. There are other reviews online that talk about the battery life.

    - Jason

  • oh is there like a Pdair case for this laptop?

  • I'm not sure - why don't you go to the Pdair site yourself and research it? :-)

    - Jason

  • hi how long does the 4 cell battery last and also the 8 cell battery just bought on i had advent 4211 sold it on ebay £290 and saved my pennies another £300.00 bought TX2500 will be used for my learnkey courses :)

  • It really depends on how you're using it - heavy CPU load, brightness turned up...both will hit the battery hard.

    - Jason

  • Hi!!

    Dont mind Tannalv. Nobody's perfect.

I enjoy your reviews. I like to know more about the gadget before i buy them and hearing feedbacks from you guys helps a lot. Hope you continue your non bias reviews.

    YOU GUYS ROCKS!!!

  • You bet - I really enjoy doing videos, so you can expect them to continue. :-)

    - Jason

  • Are you suuuuuuure it's a wai fai extention? Are you suuuuuuure it's not a tablet-pen? ;-)

  • Yeah, yeah, you got me. ;-) I feel pretty stupid I got that so wrong - but hey, I do completely off-the-cuff videos with no pre-planning, so things like this are going to happen. ;-)

    - Jason

  • If you get a Tablet PC, would you be able to play games on the tablet pc?

  • Sure, you can play some games. It really depends on the game - you won't be playing Crysis on this. The newer tx2500 series notebooks have bigger graphics firepower than the tx2000 series, so they'd be better at games.

    - Jason

  • thx for the info XD

  • LMAO! Thats the same exact one im getting for christmas!!!

  • Would I be able to run photoshop and illustrator at the same time on this pc, without having the computer slow down?

  • That's a pretty heavy load for a 12" Tablet PC...but if you get the 4 GB of RAM, yes, it should work ok.

    - Jason

  • can that be used for drawing? like the other tablet pc

  • Certainly - it's a Tablet PC like any other on the market.

    - Jason

  • yeah i have one like it well a tx1000

  • good to hear from you again. i watched your unboxing of tx2000 and really glad that you made this

  • wow, i wasn't thinking clearly today

  • Hi dude great review i was wondering because my dad said he would buy me a new laptop and i was wondering if i should get the hp tx2500z or the hp pavilion dv9000 series. Also im a mid-user, gamer and im average pc user. And let me point out that my first laptop was a hp compaq tc4200 that well got some motherboard issues and i stored it because i didn't want to damage it more. So my tc4200 did well for about 3 yrs but i want to ask you if i should get the hp tx2500z or the hp dv9000.

  • Well, that's a tough one: the tx2500 and the dv9000 are completely different laptops. One has a 12" screen, one has a 17" screen. One is a Tablet PC, one is not. One is big and heavy, one is small and fairly light. So I'd say the #1 question you have to ask yourself is how much portability matters to you. If it does, then get the tx2500.

    - Jason

  • can we play cd's in this... i dont see any cd or dvd drive... help.. :(

  • Yes, it comes with a CD/DVD burner combo.

    - Jason

  • Nice unboxing. Do you plan to do one on tx2500?

  • If I can get my hands on a tx2500, you bet. But I don't know that I will, I'm waiting to hear back from HP on it.

    - Jason

  • I just bought a tx2500 with all the bells and whistles including 2.4ghz ZM-86 and 4gb RAM. I'll do an HD unboxing with my Sony SR-11 in two days.

  • hey iam frm london

well i found this laptop iam not lieing

but the screen is broken lol i have to go n see if i can fix it lol

    its a good find init

  • You actually sound like the actor Ryan Reynolds. LOL.

  • Oh yeah? That's a compliment - Ryan Reynolds is awesome! Plus, he's Canadian like me. ;-)

    - Jason

  • for a second i thought u were jon cryer from two and a half men... lol u sound lik him

  • can u run games?? wich ones?

  • It's really not a gaming laptop. The Windows Experience Index is 3.0 for gaming and 3.2 for general graphics.

    - Jason

  • does anyone know the difference between the tx2000 and the tx2100? My shop in the uk has sold both of them, so i am left confused. As i was under the impression that the model numbers were for different countries :S

  • I looked up the tx2100 and couldn't see any differences between it and the one that I have other than it has 2 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB of RAM. The reality is that if you can't tell the difference, there probably isn't one. :-)

    - Jason

  • just different model thats it

  • what's the difference among this and the tx 2000?

  • The tx2000 is the series number, and there are different tx2xxx versions. This tx2051 retails for about $1750 USD, but there are some versions of the tx2000 that are closer to $1000. Go to HP's Web site and configure one for yourself and you'll see. :-)

    - Jason

  • Hey thanks for answering. I've already done that, I have been like 2 weeks on the hp's website trying to configure mine. I've realized that this one is very expensive compared to the tx2000z that hp is offering me. I want one and I just wanna be sure what to buy. If you have more information about "tx2xxx" :D versions, it would be hepful! Thanks a lot

  • I'll give you same advice I give everyone else: set a budget that's right for you, and get the best laptop you can configure for that budget. Think about what you need, and what's important to spend money on. Vista Ultimate isn't worth the money, that's for sure - go for Vista Premium, 2 GB or 3 GB RAM, and the CPU and hard drive will depend on what you're going to do with it - but remember hard drives can be upgraded later, CPUs can't.

    - Jason

  • thanks man!

  • Looking forward to part 2!

  • Part two will be on sometime on Wednesday...

    - Jason

  • me 2 trying to decide between this or the gateway c140xl

  • those headphones will last u about 2-3 months. thats how long mine did b4 they broke

  • "has some impressive specifications"

In all fairness, I don't think an AMD X2 CPU and 5400 RPM hard drive are all that impressive to today's standards.

  • I guess that depends on what you're comparing it with. I have a 7200 RPM 200 GB drive in my XPS M1330, but this laptop also cost me about $2500. This HP unit has a bigger (albeit slower) hard drive, more RAM than I got with the Dell, and the same Mhz of CPU (though the Intel CPU in the M1330 is faster overall) - and it's more than $1000 less than what I paid for my Dell. Compared to your average laptop, this HP unit has impressive specifications.

    - Jason

  • I should add though that specifications to not a great laptop make - I'll evaluate the laptop based on real-world use, not how it looks on paper. And would I rather see an Intel CPU in there? Yeah, you bet. 7200 RPM drive? Sure - but perhaps not if it really hurt battery life. Laptops are all about trade-offs.

    - Jason

  • Price or not, these are not impressive specifications. For the same reason you can't say a Kia Rio is more impressive than the Lexus, just because it's cheaper....sigh.

  • Well, you're welcome to your opinion of course, but when I've told people about the specs on this laptop, the looks on their faces tell me they're impressed. You have to keep in mind Joe Average is probably still rocking a Windows XP, Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, 512 MB or 1 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive laptop. Compared to his laptop this laptop DOES have better specs. Maybe your point would make more sense to me if you explained what kind of a laptop you're comparing this hp tx2051 to?

    - Jason

  • i was impressed by the specs considering a relative has just bought a 17" HP laptop recently with the same specs for the same price.

Slightly better graphics in the 17" in the form of the GeForce 8400, however for other uses getting the same performance and a touch screen for the same price is pretty nice, albeit a smaller screen.

  • I should add that the thing I thought was the WiFi antenna was actually the stylus - I got misled by the diagram inside the package. All sorted out now. :-)

    - Jason

  • that looks pretty cool, and light w/o the battery. how heavy is it w/ the 8-cell inserted?

  • The 8-cell is pretty heavy - I don't have the exact weight, but I'll see if I can calculate it for the actual video review that I'll be doing later after using it for a while. I'll definitely talk about the size/weight of the 8 cell battery, because I think it's just a bit too big.

    - Jason

  • how much does that thing cost?

  • Ah yes, that's what I forgot to put in the description! This particular configuration they sent me can be had for about $1500 USD.
