Take a look at the latitude of New Orleans. The truth is that the last several years have seen cooling temperatures. During the 1970's there was a huge scare over global cooling and it turned out to be a fraud. And you didn't deal with my point that the biggest factor in global temperatures is: THE SUN. Not to mention that there are numerous other natural causes for temperature changes. Global warming is a hoax, just as global cooling was.
BTW, there are large shale oil deposits in the mid-west waiting to be tapped. Take those deposits and we will see prices go down as the supply goes up, while demand remains relatively the same. It's called basic economics. Supply goes up w/demand steady, prices go down.

I've got plenty of horror stories; try waiting in an emergency room in excruciating pain for 7 hours, and getting just a urine and blood sample, then tell me you want health-care socialized. Please tell me ONE other thing that government has successfully run that makes you so confident they can pull off universal healthcare.

Read your newspaper; just yesterday I read about a man that waited 30-something hours in an emergency room in Saskatchewan and ended up dying. It's not always that bad, though; if you hurt yourself or whatever during business hours, you can go to a clinic where the wait is much shorter (usually under an hour).

From the information I have gathered, driling off-shore counts only 3% of the market if it's succesfull and will take 30 yrs before it starts showing up on the market.
This 3% will be negligable to the price compare to other factors that decide the market.

Take a look at the latitude of New Orleans. The truth is that the last several years have seen cooling temperatures. During the 1970's there was a huge scare over global cooling and it turned out to be a fraud. And you didn't deal with my point that the biggest factor in global temperatures is: THE SUN. Not to mention that there are numerous other natural causes for temperature changes. Global warming is a hoax, just as global cooling was.

BTW, there are large shale oil deposits in the mid-west waiting to be tapped. Take those deposits and we will see prices go down as the supply goes up, while demand remains relatively the same. It's called basic economics. Supply goes up w/demand steady, prices go down.

Listen, if we start fucking going off shore and drilling all around the Gulf and in Alaska, it's just going to further the fucking problems. It's not environmentally safe, for one. And it's just continuing our need and obsession with petroleum. This problem needs to be dealt with quickly. Off shore drilling would only account for 3% more oil, and we need to invest more into green energy, like solar, wind, and safe nuclear. Republican in power do not solve problems, they make them, lie about making them, then use stop-gap measures to "correct" them. Also, America does not have vast oil reserves. We have a ton of oil shale but that is not at all the same.

Who says I'm against using all energy resources. That's what they should do. All I'm saying is oil companies should drill on the land they allready have leased. They are not drilling there to keep prices high. Offshore drilling itself wouldn't do anything so would not be worth the risk of oil spills on our coastline.
So by all means use all energy sources including drilling. Just not offshore.

Global Marines has 8 ships around the world available...to lay down cable underwater and other cable related business. I assume it is for the sea base wind turbines. Thank you for the talking point. I love how offshore drilling falls into the "do everything you can" umbrella. The notion that offshore drilling will reduce prices and help us become energy independent is a flat out lie. Any oil drilled offshore is not American oil, its BP or ExxonMobile or Shell's oil. They are multinational corporations who will sell oil on the world market. FACT. So unless we nationalize the oil companies... It's a PIPE Dream. It's an election year mind fuck.

How about if we are going to nationalize anything we nationalize the oil companies and give those quarterly record breaking profits back to the american people, and not ship the fuckin domestic oil over seas like they are doing now. Then gas prices would be regulated and not rise and fall by crazy amounts on the daily like they have been.
I'd be happy paying 5 dollars a gallon if that money were being pumped into schools, new energy, and paying down the deficit. Hell, I'd even rethink ANWR.

nationaization should only be used in a few very specific cases, such as health care and postal service. Proper regulation that restricts companies in a position of power from abusing their power is all we need.

I live in Canada, and healthcare is nationalized. I've got plenty of horror stories; try waiting in an emergency room in excruciating pain for 7 hours, and getting just a urine and blood sample, then tell me you want health-care socialized. Please tell me ONE other thing that government has successfully run that makes you so confident they can pull off universal healthcare.

Thats funny...because i go to university in Canada and everyone I have talked to is quite satisfied with their health care system. Also i have never encountered anyone with these "horror storries" that you are talking about.
there was a worldwide healthcare survey released not to long ago which listed countries with the best health care to worste based on bang per buck; The U.S. placed far down on the list right after slovakia.

If we're talking about cost, yes the U.S. system is more expensive, but it is also better. Read your newspaper; just yesterday I read about a man that waited 30-something hours in an emergency room in Saskatchewan and ended up dying. It's not always that bad, though; if you hurt yourself or whatever during business hours, you can go to a clinic where the wait is much shorter (usually under an hour).

You think Saudi Arabia marked up their oil from 30 dollars a barrel 7 years ago to $145 now? It is the refineries that gauge. I don't want them nationalized I was being sensational. I do want oversight though. In these bailouts I want equity, not to give out a blank check. These bailouts are over $2000 / taxpayer now. We can socialize medicine for cheaper than that, instead of socializing business. I'm saying the republicans aren't for lower taxes or for individuals. just welfare for the rich.

I used to support the republicans, but every passing day, I seem to disagree with what they do. The republican party of 15-20 years ago would not have supported--let alone proposed--this bailout. Also, don't kid yourself about the $700B cost. Wasn't the Iraq War supposed to cost like $50 billion? This bailout is probably headed for the trillions.

From the information I have gathered, driling off-shore counts only 3% of the market if it's succesfull and will take 30 yrs before it starts showing up on the market.
This 3% will be negligable to the price compare to other factors that decide the market.
