I have not played it in a long time as I WORK FOR A LIVING so when I did i got the same thing a few weeks ago. I was using the white NYKO intercooler with the 3 fans. Ite the one where the power supply plugs into it. It had overheated orver time, about 3 years, and the plastic had melted into the connections. removed intercooler, cleaned connector on power supply and prongs on back of xbox, works fine

It is actually very well built its just put together with super glue. Once the screws are out its best just to tap the corner on wood, concrete, brick or with hammer. I didnt have time to screw around with it and IF i destroyed it I would still be in the same spot. Just have buy another instead of fix.

@gunsnlegos If it goes red and the console is plugged in then your console is broke. If it goes red being just plugged into the outlet and not the xbox, its your power supply.

Wow, this thing sucks to open, i just hit it on the seem with a ratchet all the way around and it came apart. DONT just sart bashing it though theres lots of little stuff in there that could get ruined from hitting it too hard. try putting more air holes int the plastic casing to help vent it better. Be carefull of the aluminum vent on the top part of the cover and, when you pull it apart makesure that you detach a black wire that comes from the top of the cover to the board below.

I wouldn't mess around with these and would not risk the chance of it catching on fire. If you have a faulty one the just buy a new one from ebay or other websites that can sell direct. Spending a small amount on a new one is better then your house catching on fire.

@blackZ34all hey dont know if u solved this yet but try to find black burn marks inside the power supply or black smoke marks, then you'll see what happened, if was just a minor piece like a fuse, resistor or capacitor you should try to repair yourself.

Before you try taking it apart get a vaccuum cleaner and run it around all the vents on the xbox itself , i took mine apart and the light returned to orange but as soon as i hooked it up to the xbox again it went red i cleaned out the vents and it now works fine might save you the hassle and avoid voiding a warrenty for no reason!
got this problem as well now all of a sudden. Brick feels really warm as well (although lots of space around it). Another of dozens of problems I've encountered since getting a 360 in 2005. Most frustrating and on the other hand the best console i've ever had. That microsoft couldn't make a durable good product is beyond me. Idiots problably did it on purpose so that pple have to give them money all the time to fix problems like this. That's what you get with made in china stuff.

I don't know about corporate dicks. We had to do a redesign of a product (power supply) and make the fuse not user replaceable. A customer rather than replace a .55 cent fuse bypassed it with a wire. Well his house burned down and the company I work for got sued. Unfortunately the dumbest guy in the room dictates the design.

clean your mother boards hasnt anyone else noticed the water scale left behing fuck knows what was in the water i keep getting xboxs with faults and cleaning them really well they all work now even the old blade 2005 i have 4 xboxes with green lights now and im pulling apart another with this 0001 error i think they were stored like shit during production or transport china built the original xbox so i dont see why the 360 is so touchy

Wow, this thing sucks to open, i just hit it on the seem with a ratchet all the way around and it came apart. DONT just sart bashing it though theres lots of little stuff in there that could get ruined from hitting it too hard. try putting more air holes int the plastic casing to help vent it better. Be carefull of the aluminum vent on the top part of the cover and, when you pull it apart makesure that you detach a black wire that comes from the top of the cover to the board below.

I had a power outage in my area and it ruined my TV (wouldn't even turn on), so I was unable to use my 360. I recently tried to turn it on and I got the red ring of death thing. Is my power supply (the power cable/brick) just fucked up or is my actual xbox console damaged? Does the brick protect the console during a power surge?
Your guys' help and advice is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mess around with these and would not risk the chance of it catching on fire. If you have a faulty one the just buy a new one from ebay or other websites that can sell direct. Spending a small amount on a new one is better then your house catching on fire.

@blackZ34all hey dont know if u solved this yet but try to find black burn marks inside the power supply or black smoke marks, then you'll see what happened, if was just a minor piece like a fuse, resistor or capacitor you should try to repair yourself.

Before you try taking it apart get a vaccuum cleaner and run it around all the vents on the xbox itself , i took mine apart and the light returned to orange but as soon as i hooked it up to the xbox again it went red i cleaned out the vents and it now works fine might save you the hassle and avoid voiding a warrenty for no reason!

got this problem as well now all of a sudden. Brick feels really warm as well (although lots of space around it). Another of dozens of problems I've encountered since getting a 360 in 2005. Most frustrating and on the other hand the best console i've ever had. That microsoft couldn't make a durable good product is beyond me. Idiots problably did it on purpose so that pple have to give them money all the time to fix problems like this. That's what you get with made in china stuff.

I don't know about corporate dicks. We had to do a redesign of a product (power supply) and make the fuse not user replaceable. A customer rather than replace a .55 cent fuse bypassed it with a wire. Well his house burned down and the company I work for got sued. Unfortunately the dumbest guy in the room dictates the design.
