to the lady that did the cornbreak i loved every min of u making it :) and even baking it lol i felt like i was back at my grandfather and my grandmother house in Kentucky. i can't remember where in kentucky but it was a nice place ..i was there when i was maybe 8 or 9 years old lol so i felt like i went back in time ..even the music help alot too lol and i'm only 42 lol good video keep it commin ..u never know i might pop in just to seeing what's u be cookin lol :)
I love it how your mama is smoking in the kitchen as she cooks, thats so old school. Reminds me of my grandfather and watching him cook as i was growing up. Awesome video!!
woow...sucha secret recipe~! corn bread with just buttermilk, eggs and cormeal??? seriously....??? dude, turn off ur damn music, so i can listen to ur mom!!! ( if u want to show us ur mom's coockin!!) and when ur mom stir the mixture, the noise kiling my ears,,,,buy wooden spoon for her, pleeease! :)
Definitely a DVD, I'd love to own one. A cookbook is nice, but it will lose your mother's southern style, personality and technique. I thought your narration was great, essential in my opinion, and regarding that, I like that she's not doing her own kitchen show by herself because a demo really needs you to focus and counterbalance her.
at my house growing up; my dad and i would have Cornbread Mush which was taking the left over cornbread and put it in a big ol glass of milk and call that our dessert.
Southern cornbread does not use sugar. Northern cornbread is sweeter and more cake-like. My only quibble with lownote's mom is that she used oil in the pan. Bacon grease is my choice for the pan.
That pan your Mom coooked the cornbread is wonderful it goes from the burner to the oven. Could she demonstrate how to season, clean and maintain?. I had one like that once but it always begin to have rust spots. I Love her videos keep them coming.
Maintenance is pretty easy. You need to lightly coat the pan with vegetable oil and cook it until it starts to burn away. Wipe it down, let it cool, and store.
I learned to cook from my & this just good old home cooking that is simply the best . I really enjoy your mom's straight foward attitude without the cooking nonsence jiberish.
man that looks good! im Australian and havent had cornbread before! its hard to understand your mum sometimes because of her accent and we call things on the ovens different names.
How nice is this.. You tell your mama thank you. I appreciate it. I especially love that song you put in the video of the "The Whites" singing and "I'll fly away" I bet you would be the kind of guy that would be willing to watch one more round of my favorite movie "Oh Brother Were art thou" Out were I live people do not take to that movie much but I sure do.. Can your mom show us how to make some chicken and dumplin's?
Wonderful!! She reminds me of my Mom. I never got her cornbread recipe before she passed away in 2003. Mom was a Carolina girl. I do have a video of her SCRUMPTOUS biscuits. See videos by NelnetDude. God bless you! Dan in Indy.
She's like the mom I wish I had. I love her! Take care of her.

Why no sugar.
I will try this recipe, but I wish you had turned the music down in the background, I couldn't hear a word she was saying.
Thanks for the recipe though.

I hope yours turned out well. It's really good crumbled up in a glass with milk poured in with it! That's also very Southern.
