Evolution can't answer why, only what. Even if we scientifically understand every split second in the history of evolution, it still ignores the greater question of why gravity exists, why the laws of natural selection worked, why every moment of the 14 billion years before humanity perfectly led to a species that can contemplate the past and future, or truth and lies, or joy and suffering. Science will never find or replace God, only show us how awesome sheer human/universal existence is.
If science has the answer to everything we need, then why hasn't it solved all the problems in the world? When in fact we are draining the planets resources to fund our frankenstien creature comforts....We are 100% dependant on scieence to get us out of the mess it's got us into.
Science is a constantly expanding body of knowledge. What people choose to do with that knowledge is at times is unfortunate. At other times it's fantastic.

Seriously though, I think RD is great. A year ago, I didn't really realize that there were people called atheists who didn't believe in any sorts of gods, and that this was okay. Some common misconceptions that cloud the truth about our past:
1. We did not evolve from modern cells. Modern cells are very complicated and are just as evolved as we are. And we didn't evolve from Chimps either, we just have a common ancestor.
2. Creationists typically have no grasp whatsoever of what 4 billion years means.
They have this sort of vague feeling that according to Evolution things happened much faster and dogs gave birth to cats, and nonsense like that.

I'm not christian, but I do beleive consciousness is energy and can niether be created nor destroyed. Am I right? Maybe/maybe not.. Which brings me to my point. Is he right? Maybe/maybe not. And thats why it peeves me when they speak so certainly about something they are probably just scratching the surface on. And no, it's not unrefuted, I refute it as being gospel truth. I guess he is afraid of not being a social and trending animal, and so the idea of a trend called evolution is very appealing to a person who is afraid of not following the social trend. So evolution theory makes him feel comfortable about the role he has placed himself in within the cultrue. This trend is the comforting but false belief we are all contributing our bit and together were all slowly evolving.

I am an American, and I find comfort in hearing that the rest of the educated world doesn't think like most Americans do. If America was all I knew, I wouldn't see any hope. However, there is one thing that makes me proud to be an American, the First Amendment. No matter how many people are Christian over here, it can't get into our government (hopefully). Our forefathers tried hard to keep religion out of the U.S. government.

Like a lot of Brits, I think your nation is fantastic - so much strength, not just militarily, but in it's diversity of people, such a vibrant combination of different cultures, more or less united under one banner. Such fantastic science and technology too, world leaders still.
It's also like, with Obama elected, "welcome back to your rightful intellectual place in the world, America". You got a clever, secular leader once more on the world stage.

Of course i BELIEVE in evolution but i dont have blind faith in it because some guys in funny clothes said its true.

Where was Dr. Dawkins when I was a child? How I wish he could have explained and shared with me the elegance of the universe. Instead, I was told that God made everything...From the sun, earth, stars & of course, me. Imagination, curiousity & exploration were not encouraged. They were not options. Seriously though, I think RD is great. A year ago, I didn't really realize that there were people called atheists who didn't believe in any sorts of gods, and that this was okay. You really have to admire educators like Richard Dawkins. He is an Oxford professor, holding a prestigious chair, and is world renown for his books on evolution, and his criticism of religion, and yet he takes the time to instruct children on the beauty of evolutionary theory. Precisely. Recent research has shown that the brain is capable of processing sound long after clinical death occurs, so long as brain death doesn't occur of course.

sorry but your soooo wrong. in the case f pam reynolds her brain was drained of all blood so they could operate on the tumor, she was practically a vegetable yet she was able to see what sort of tools the doctor was using , she described a tool which resembled an electric toothbrush being used, this is a bone saw, she was also able to tell what the nurse said to the doctor word for word, the only way she could have seen and heard all this is if she was literally out of her body
