  • Perfect advice!!! :) if you all don't want to use drug store or professional brands then go for all natural ones! They are the BEST as they have no chemicals or wax in! They don't froth up as much but that's because other shampoos have chemicals in that able the to froth! Xox

  • Goodbye Herbal Essence

  • Man i'm confused after watching this video and reading these comments. Should I use store brand or should I not use them.

  • But in schools, you aren't allowed to out your hair down. Detention will be given. Im Asian btw, a Singaporean.

  • @faithziamba12

WAHAHAHAHAAHAHA! ARE YOU JOKING WHEN YOU SAY THIS?! No! It's even worse than drugstore. Where are you from??

  • i love all of this, except the drugstore shampoo thing is total bull shit!

  • i honestly think a lot of these r lies they might be what you do but doesnt have to do to other people

  • In all honesty, I have SHITTY beyond repair crazy insane frizzy (get the picture?) hair, and I'm broke, and when I do get money, I'm a tightwad. :) And I've found that Suave professionals works wonders for my hair. I use the Almond and Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner and I've never even seen my hair in better condition. And believe me, I've used the $20 a bottle shampoo and conditioners from salons and they've just made it worse. Now my hair is silky and shiny with the Suave products.

  • BABY POWDER ???? Somebody Let Me In On The Secret !!!!!!!!!

  • I've been a licensed cosmetologist for over 25 years. As a salon owner, for the past 15, I can honestly tell you that the salon brand names you mentioned are in no way better than store brands. It's all in the marketing. Joico, Redken, Matrix and Paul Mitchell are old hair care lines that high end salons, like mine, would never have lining our shelves. Redken went out of business long ago. Loreal purchased the name. Just use what feels right for you. After all it's all cosmetic.

  • This is bad hair advice. Everyone's hair is different. Just because this works for you, doesn't mean it will work for everyone else. I wrap my hair in a towel, use Pantene, and wash my hair every single day and my hair is fine. And thats dandruff shampoo that has the PH balance close to laundry detergent, not drug store shampoo's. So to whoever is reading this, don't go out buying expensive shampoo and conditioner you can't afford just because she says so.

  • I use Pantene and it is awsome! Its soft and silky so Pantene shouldn't be on that list but Head & Shoulders does dry out my hair and I cannot go out to buy $70 worth of fancy shampoo and conditioner, dont empty your wallet just for that only use shampoos for ur hair and thats all but everything else I agree nice video BTw but Pantene isn't bad in fact its very popular and works on most people hair.~Elissa

  • First, I can't afford that fancy pancy Shit. . Being poor S.U.C.K.S

Second, I Have never gone at least 2 days without washing my hair. .

Even if Showering everyday is bad for your hair. I would risk it. Lol (:

I use Pantene. . .And I have NO Split ends, I Don't have really Frizzy hair. And it's shiny and soft. O.o?

I color my hair random color all the time and straighten it. . And my hair looks amazing. :3

But, I like your video. Good i guess ^^

  • Good Advice (:

  • what kind of heat protector products are the best at the drug store cuz i dnt hav tht kind of money eigther

  • @twilightrox4ever01 The one by Treseme works amazing.

  • wow these r rllllyyy ggoood advices! i was honestly lookin 4 somethin like this for quite a while.....THANK U SOOO MUCH... and is john frieda a good brand??? or the chi line?????

  • wow these r rllllyyy ggoood advices! i was honestly lookin 4 somethin like this for quite a while.....THANK U SOOO MUCH... and is john frieda a good brand??? or the chi line?????

or this rly amazing thing i found ....which is called organix! is that goood?????? and any tips on how to treat really really really damaged and frizzy and curly hair??????????? cuz all the things that r in this vid...are things that are new to me ....i seriously dont do ANY OF THOSE THINGS!!!!!! and my hair is always

  • lol on the First one it says use a nicklet amount i like to use alot because then i get to get new shampoo

  • I notice the style doesn't last long either, and it makes my hair really static.. Hope i can get my hair cut once more so I can buy a new bottle :D

  • I used to use a heat protector before i straigthen my hair, I bought that spray at a hair salon where i got my hair cut, but as its really far from here I couldn't just go back when the bottle was empty.. So i bought one of a store full of cosmetic products, but that one smelled horrible tho, but I still used it because i had to use some type of protection right? But as that bottle is empty too, I sometimes straighten my hair without. I notice its really bad for my hair...

  • I do all of these things! BAHAHAHA ... my hairs not stuffed though

  • I do all of these things! BAHAHAHA ... my hairs not stuffed thought

  • hi!! im a teenager so i cant afford alot but what is the cheapest salon brand of shamppoo and whats like the best drugstore one? i have straight hair =]]

  • hey do u know if tresseme hair products are any good??

  • the only drugstore brand I use is Aussie cause it's awesome

I think that's really the only drug store brand that's worth your money

  • haha i do like all these things.

  • is paul mitchell considered a salon brand???

  • hi i dont mean this in a bad way but i use a wide tooth comb once i washed my hair and it is great so ill stick to what im doing thx anyway x

  • Hi,yesterday i was looking for a good shampoo or conditioner and i got the aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner. is that brand ok? i know that some aussie products contain "ammonium laurly/laureth sulfate" but is it ok to use the ones that say "sodium laureth sulfate?" thank you(:

  • What about Aussie?

  • What if you can't afford salon brand shampoo?

  • @LoveKellelly Honestly, if you can't afford it, then just don't buy it. You have to budget within your means, right? The best advice I can give then is to just try to use minimal heat on your hair and not to colour your hair, because then you can prevent damage. But the best time to buy salon products is right after Christmas. You can get the gift sets for SO CHEAP! I bought a gift set of Redken's colour shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream for only $10. So that's like 3.25 per product!

  • @sarahreaume its not bad to buy drugstore sweet heart. you just need to know what to stay away from like suave is one and i think VO5 or whatever is another, but pantene, dove, tresseme, even aussie isnt bad.

  • @bloodrebel1 bad advice!

  • @macygurl556 no its good advice. there are good drugstore brands i know im a cosmetologist and not everyone can afford salon brands and since there are good drug store brands like tressme its fine for them to use. you obviously dont know much yourself darling.

  • @sarahreaume Use Jojoba oil or Coconut oil or a combination of both. Make trimming your split ends a part of your everyday routine; don't worry about trimming them all in one day or one setting, as long as you do it regularly, your hair will become healthier. You don't have to use "salon/professional" products. Salon products have silicone derivatives just like any cheap haircare products; you're paying for the brand name. Look for organic products within your budget.

  • @LoveKellelly Forego the expensive salon brands and use apple cider vinegar or aloe vera gel and wheat germ or baking powder. Drug store products may damage your hair, but often salons [unnecessarily] rob you blind.

  • i agree with the shampoo it just dried my hair out

  • Is Olive Oil a good brand?

  • I am using Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner.

  • Well will it be okay to buy hair products from the beauty supply store. Cuz they sell practically a lot of great hair products. And I dont think you have to buy products from the hair salon to achieve healthy hair. You will probably find the same products at some Beauty supply stores for a cheaper price.

  • Is nexxus a good shampoo & conditioner?

  • @123agent101 I like Nexxus. It used to be in salons, but for some reason, they decided to go the drugstore route (maybe a bigger market?). I don't know if they've changed their formula since ths switch to drugstores, but I will try to find out!

  • @sarahreaume thnx,please do, ill appreciate it :)

  • is Rusk a good brand to use???

  • @jibjabfan14 Thanks for watching and commenting! I would say yes - I know a lot of salons that use Rusk. I've used some Rusk before, but I wasn't a huge fan of the results compared to my other products, though.

  • wow incredibly helpful, nomore drug store brands and nomore large amounts of shampoo. i mostly condition my hair though and dont shampoo as often as i used to

  • @ladyphat85 Glad you liked it! Thanks!

  • SO HELPFUL!

  • @macygurl556 Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • is it possible to name me a few professional products. if u d0nt mind?

  • FINALLY a video with good hair advice. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I have to tell you, its like nails on a chalk board when I here some of these people giving horrible advice. People don't want to believe that the crappy grocery store products are bad for their hair, but most if not all of them have proven to damage your hair after long use. Pantene is a prime example. The PH balance of it is closer to laundry detergent then to your hair and scalp.

  • @willbscene360 Thank you so much for your comment! That's exactly why I made this video - because of all the bad hair advice I had been hearing on YouTube!!!

  • im going to not overdo my hair with the shampoo

  • waw this was so helpful, thanku!

  • Suave is a good shampoo and conditioner plus it is cheap and it does not have alot of cones in them. Anyway alot of people do not have the money to get professional products. Also if you are trying to grow your hair out you should try to avoid heat all toogether even with a heat protector. Beacuse heat is damaging anyway.

  • @phantomfromhell5 but what if ur hair is nappy and frizzy. cuz with my hair i have to hot comb it if i don't then no air will reach my scalp.but really i don't know what to do with it.

  • Wow... I realized I do every one of things things. But im going to try to stop

  • thanks for this too. all true. i read a lot.

  • would treseme be a good shampoo???

  • Hi Sarah! In ur video u explained about the hairproducts on the market.. which aren't so good at all for your hair. I never knew that! Do u have any good tips for other more professional products I can use?

  • I will not stop wrapping my hair in a towel.

  • It's been a constant battle ground with my hair after over 23 years of doing all the wrong things with my hair I've realized what I've been doing, I can start to treat it with some tlc now! Damn I hate the fact that no one told me any of it, I sure lacked the common sense everybody else got lol

    Thanks!

  • Aww, well I'm glad you learned from the video! A lot of this isn't common sense - a lot of people just really don't know, because no one else really tells them. I really hope that your hair health improves - best of luck, and thanks for watching and commenting! :-)

  • i do everyone of those things :S

  • so do i! :p

  • how do we stop!? Dx

  • Awesome! :-)

  • before i starighten my hair could i use serum or do i have to get a tresemme heat protectant spray?

  • You can get certain heat protectants in the form of a serum. I would get a heat protectant spray, though, because it's specific to protecting your hair from heat. CHI's Silk Infusion is a serum that is also a heat protectant. I have it, and it's okay. I'm not a huge fan, because I find it watery, but in general, I don't like serums. So it's more personal preference. I would recommend it to you, though! I use Matrix Heat Protectant Spray from their Sleek.Look line (orange). Thanks for watching!

  • Good video but forget the overpriced salon products at the end, its just expensive poison. Buy organic products like Burts Bees, Avalon and other natural and nutrient rich products. It will probably save you a few bucks also

  • I agree with that, too. Natural products are great, too. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • is aveda a 'good' brand of products??

  • Aveda is very good!! Expensive, but very good! I don't own any Aveda, but I've used it, and it's a great brand. My friend is a hair dresser at an Aveda salon, and she swears by it!

  • Yaaay (: my salon is aveda so im going to start buying their hair products.

  • Thank you for making this video. Now I know what shampoo to get for my hair and what NOT to do to my hair.

  • You're welcome! Thanks for watching! :-)

  • oh i see , like in pantene commercials they say it makes ur hair "look" healthy but doesnt actually MAKE it healthier?

  • well hair can't really be healthy- it's dead. any "healthiness" is superficial

  • But Suave makes my hair shiney :O

  • loved this but herbal essences is good!

  • WTF? You said pantene wasn't good it works great

  • Is Tressame a good shampoo and conditioner to use? I have used it before And I loved it. But is it good for my hair?

  • Is Nexxus shampoo good for your hair?

  • that ws really absoloutly helpfull i learned more things cos i usually dont care about my hair ,no salon or protecting my hair that s why is always damaging and dry never growth up tks so much amazing i will try it as u said and will let u know

  • Thanks! I'm glad it helped! Let me know how it's working for you!! :-)

  • i think this was a little extreme, some of these things are a bit you know here say not a proven fact

  • Wow this was so helpful. Thank you so much.

  • Thanks :) Glad you liked it

  • i use Grarnier Fructis sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner along with there leave in conditionar are they ok

  • I actually used that for a while before I switched to professional brands. For a store brand, they're okay, as long as you cut your hair often, don't use too much heat, and don't dye your hair. I used them when I didn't colour my hair. Afterwards, I needed to switch to salon brands so that I could keep my hair healthy. There is still a lot of wax in drug store brand conditioners, so if anything, you could use the shampoo, and use a salon conditioner. Thanks for watching! :-)

  • there not a store brand

  • i was wondering if biolage would be good?

  • I actually like Biolage! Good choice! I use their leave-in conditioner, and my hair stylist has used Biolage shampoo on me before, and it has worked well. Matrix makes them, and I really like mos Matrix products! Thanks for commenting! :-)

  • So if you do all this for your hair...How Do you Care for Hair extensions?

    (:

  • Ooo, I'm not too sure on that one. I've never had them, so I haven't researched that. Check out Elle's YouTube channel -- "AllThatGlitters21" -- she mentioned in a video that she just bought hair extensions, so maybe you could message her and ask her how she cares for them. Sorry I can't help! Thanks for watching, though! :-)

  • Geeze, you know so much about hair! Are you gonna be a hairdresser? Hahah, just wondering. I love this video, and I'm especially greatful for your good grammar. :)

  • Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you appreciate grammar - my friends call me "The Grammar Nazi". Haha. I actually am not going to be a hair dresser, but hair is just a hobby of mine, and I like to learn a lot about it! I'll be taking some classes soon about it :)

  • Omg I thought i was treating my hair like perfect but I make a turban everyday.

And what about if you use deep conditioner from a srug store like aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner?

  • Not all drug store things are bad, but a lot of them contain more wax. The wax fills in pores and your hair is coated with it. Your hair will look shiny and healthy, but whether it actually is is questionable. Some aren't bad, but I would stick with more professional brands. It's like makeup -- if you use MAC, you know your eye colour will stay pigmented all day long, but if you use CoverGirl, you'll have to reapply it when it fades. Some are store brands are good, it just depends.

  • I have to disagree with you about not using drugstore products. The only product I've ever been discouraged by stylists from using is drugstore shampoo, and rightfully so. There are a lot of drugstore products I've been able to find that I have actually liked better than salon products. Sometimes buying salong products is worth it and sometimes it's not. It depends on what your expectations are.

  • I like some styling products that are drug store brands, but I would never use shampoos, conditioners, or leave-in conditioners that are drug store products. Things like mousse, gel, or hairspray aren't bad though.

  • thanks sooo much for the advice!

  • You're welcome! Thanks for watching!

  • i don't like wearing my hair up even in the summer time i don't wear my hair up

  • suave shampoo only and use their conditioner every other week is that bad? and my hair gets tangled when it's wet and i use a brush for that should i use a comb still?

  • You should definitely use a comb, and you should start combing from the bottom and work your way up the strands. You only condition every other week? How often do you wash your hair? You should at least be using a leave-in conditioner on your ends if your scalp is oily. You don't want to dry your hair out :)

  • I like Dove shampoos and conditioners... they're a drugstore brand... it makes my hair feel and look moisturized. :)

  • @weng57 Did you not read the slide? She said specifically that drugstore stuff coats your hair with wax to make it appear healthy but you aren't getting necessary proteins or moisture. Great video!

  • thanks i love it...

  • Comment removed

  • acturley when u shampoo your hair you should do it twice once to get the dirt out and twice for shine thats what i lern in tafe.

  • I think that some drug store products are pretty good.

  • It really does depend. They're not ALL bad. Although, after I made the switch to professional formulas, my hair has been in the best shape ever. I think the best drug store line is got2b; it's a cheaper version of the Schwarzkopf line, and it actually does a pretty good job. Their styling products are better than other drug store products. I also read in a professional hair magazine that Sunsilk uses a lot of the similar ingredients as professional brands.

  • is TRESemme alright to use ??

  • Thanks !

  • Glad you liked it :)

  • its lie herbal essences an pantene
