Also, I'm crazy over scoring systems, they create auto-replayability imo, and it's not simulated replayability at all. The easier you go into the billions, the more I like it, that's why I like most pinball games a lot. I have a high number fetish ;) I get very sad when I reach terminal score, that's when a game ends for me if I've also done everything else.

I liked the relaxed approach to the action and combat bcuz that brought out the story better. While it may not be a true RPG, this game is fantastic and is worth buying.
well you know how in the thousand year door luigi appeared with his own detailed story and partners, why the hell dont they make that into a turn based game. I mean they basically put a plot and characters all they have to do is name it, I would buy that. hell Im playin the thousand year door right now and this is my 5th playthrough.
I too liked the game, but what was more fascinating....was the fact, there were (I think) FIVE possible game overs you can get....I think in TYD there was only 2 (In Chapter 1 and final boss), here you had to be careful in what you choose......

Super Paper mario is just a regular platformer mario game. Now dont get me wrong, i love regular mario platformer games, but it just doesn't work for paper mario. And the storyline for super paper mario wasn't too interesting for me, either. This is the only Mario game ive not liked.
its the opposite for me...i thought the fighting in the first to games took too long and became very redundant...but with this game its much easier to stomp your foes into OBLIVIAN!
@banjotenie well in the original paper mario there are power-ups *badges* that let you just jump or spin into your enemies for a 1 hit kill without going into the battle scene

i love teh entire paper mario series. my fav is the 2nd one, my 2nd fav. is the first, and my third fav. is the 3rd one! I can't wait to buy the 4th one coming out for 3ds, tht is seriously the only reason y i bought the 3ds! Teh third one may not be as good but i still enjoy playing through it once in a while!

Although i know what you mean, it doesn't take too long to beat weaker enemies. And you can also get an item that lets you defeat weak enemies instantly without going into battle.
I strongly agree with the reviewer! I played paper mario 2 twice and I just beat this one and can honestly say it's my least favorite. I like the old fighting style better.

I agree with this review completely. While the game was fun, TTYD completely puts this game to shame. For all you Wii owners that liked this game but haven't played TTYD, I'd strongly recommend picking it up, it was truly a masterpiece.

Not only was this the first video from you that I watched, I watched it through the internet on my Nintendo Wii back in 2010 and I loved your videos since. Also good luck with the Let's Play of the original Paper Mario. I never replayed an entire game on an N64 more than Paper Mario.
It would be cool if they made "Super Paper" a different franchise. And then unexpectedly come out with a super paper mario 2, and a paper mario 3D :D I liked super paper mario. The other two were a bit better, but super paper mario had the best storyline imo :)

I gotta disagree. I'd gotta give it a buy. There's tons of content. Two pits of 100 trials. Cards and recipes to collect. The characters are involving, the story is moving and honestly, the gameplay couldn't have been done any other way just because certain story elements forced it to do so.

There's something strange about this. Everyone hates this game because it's the worst in the Super Paper Mario series. But, what if it WASN'T a paper mario game? Would you hate it less?
This game struggled to find its identity and rather than draw in the platformer and rpg fans, it settles itself in an awkward medium which is ultimately dissapointing. This game had alot of potential, but they made the mistake of misleading everyone by putting the "Paper" in the title. The Mario series has many great platformers like the "Super Mario Advance" series, the problem however is this game was a sequel to a PAPER Mario game not a platformer.
I was umming and arring about giving this a second chance (sold it after an hour of play time) so I though I'd watch a review and I don't think I'll bother. Because if the whole game is more of the same then I'm hardly going to like a game that's the same 10 hours in as it is 1 hour in.

This is one of the few times i need to say change is good. I liked the original paper mario for it's gameplay and regardless of the change in battle systems this was still a great game. Stop wanting the same. The only time i could say it's necessary is with super smash bros. Brawls physics sucked compared to the first two. I think nintendo was trying to eliminate the repetitive fights and sorta combine RPG and platformer in this game. Although yeah, it was kinda hard to play through. By "hard" I mean repetitive. I gave up on that one midway.... no offense to people who like it!

GREAT review @ "wiiviewr" but i gotta tell ya- the name "Mario" is on the house because that's the last name of both Mario and Luigi. But i agree with you in the sense that Luigi gets shafted a lot by Nintendo. But yeah, rpg based battles are definitely better. Great review!

I gotta disagree. I'd gotta give it a buy. There's tons of content. Two pits of 100 trials. Cards and recipes to collect. The characters are involving, the story is moving and honestly, the gameplay couldn't have been done any other way just because certain story elements forced it to do so.

People need to calm down about how different the game is from other paper mario games. It is my least favorite game in the series but I don't hate like a lot of other people. To the people who complain that it's not the same others & refuse to play it because of that, shut the fuck up & deal with it. This game struggled to find its identity and rather than draw in the platformer and rpg fans, it settles itself in an awkward medium which is ultimately dissapointing. This game had alot of potential, but they made the mistake of misleading everyone by putting the "Paper" in the title. The Mario series has many great platformers like the "Super Mario Advance" series, the problem however is this game was a sequel to a PAPER Mario game not a platformer.
I'd rather replay Super Mario World.

I was umming and arring about giving this a second chance (sold it after an hour of play time) so I though I'd watch a review and I don't think I'll bother. Because if the whole game is more of the same then I'm hardly going to like a game that's the same 10 hours in as it is 1 hour in.
And apologies if this has been said (I didn't see it in the comments, but iPod's don't allow annotations so you might've put it in one of those) but the Mario name on the house is not a first name.

I almost laughed out loud at the last sentence. I beat this game for the second time 2 days ago. this is a fun, unique, interesting game, it just isn't a paper mario game.

This is one of the few times i need to say change is good. I liked the original paper mario for it's gameplay and regardless of the change in battle systems this was still a great game. Stop wanting the same. The only time i could say it's necessary is with super smash bros. Brawls physics sucked compared to the first two. It could've been different than melee but i still think they could of worked on the ease of movement. Anyways stop being so centered and wanting everything to be familiar,

I think nintendo was trying to eliminate the repetitive fights and sorta combine RPG and platformer in this game. Although yeah, it was kinda hard to play through. By "hard" I mean repetitive. I gave up on that one midway.... no offense to people who like it!
