I hope you're not using human tooth paste--you need to use stuff from the vet, as human toothpaste has ingredients in it that can cause them intestinal distress when they swallow it (they don't know to spit it out, as we do). There are also over-the-finger brushes that are easier to use. I am about to get my hand bitten off as I do my cat's teeth!
My little Abigail will definitely have to get used to getting hers brushed. The cat breath was driving me crazy. Especially when she likes to lick my face and hair.
