  • SOMEONE, PLEASE SIGN HIM!!!

  • oh my god

  • it been a year now since i heard this song..at least..i typed in bass solist..a year ago it came up no1..this time it took me 6 pages to nail it..thanks nathan..love ya art

  • @skalica a min

  • i was just thinking about how many people say 'why isn't nathan famous'. nathan's a regular guy with a job and a family, who, having spent a couple hours doing this film back in 2001, has been now been seen over 670,000 times and had mountains of accolades showered upon him. to me that means he *is* famous. moral of the story: the next regular ordinary person next to you on the bus may be a genius too.

  • Total respect. ;)

  • Does anyone know what tuning this is in?

  • @barret707 B, E, A, D, G (I think he didn't use low B string in this video)

  • I searched my name(Nathan Hughes) and this is what I find. I feel proud to share the name with someone so awesome

  • This is so incredibly inspiring. This has influenced my playing so much

  • Another fantastic song wasted on a woman who probably doesn't even give a crap. Why can't people sing about anything original?

  • @cursedswordsman

because love is the most powerful emotion a human can experience, if they're capable

  • @JosephCote27 This is only true because love is not in fact an emotion but is felicitated by other emotions. Therefore people associate the happiness sadness tragedy anger and all other emotions with the state of "love." Love is the only real culmination of all human emotions but it itself is not an emotion.

  • Incrivel ..bass

  • DAT BASS.

  • he deserves to become a legend!

  • Ammmmm... bass is a guitar! All instruments are beautiful btw if you like music... so...

  • more than anything i would like to talk to this man and i wish that he would slow this song for me and explain a few things! :D its simply amazing...

  • amazing!!!!!

  • This guy is fantastic! :D I love a good bass player.

  • Great song, too bad that the publicity is low, it would become an anthology piece if more people heard it...

  • 82 persons are jealous guitarists. And I say that as a guitarist ^^

  • at the start its a bit out of sinc

  • And I want a CD !

  • That gives me the creeps.

  • This guy is genious!!!

  • Sounds like fapping

  • @jesuswept666

no thats just everyone listening to his orgasmic bass playing

  • When I hear stuff like this, I'm baffled as to why this guy isn't famous. Great songwriter and player. The two things EVERYONE needs to achieve fame. Perhaps he doesn't wish to be famous? Either way, I love this and I want a CD!

  • @MrCarlWeber Yeah well this video is almost 6 years old...

  • im impressed

  • You are the one who got scared and backed off when we did not fit just like a glove! Excellent!

  • Why he isnt famous blows my mind... Love the words as well.

  • HE'S A MASTER OF BASSGUITAR

  • And fuckin kill me if most beautiful things in the world doens't come from sorrow and pain...

  • 79 people don't fit like a glove

  • i didnt know Fred Durst played bass lol. anyways this guy is amazing

  • Very great. Bassist + Singer = awesome

But what for a bass he's using?

  • @7thSlap

    If I recall correctly, it's a Modulus Quantum 5.

  • @NvgtrWiggles Yep, most definitely a Quantum 5. Sounds like heaven.

  • @NvgtrWiggles Yep, most definitely a Quantum 5. Sounds like heaven.

  • thumbs up if you think his music is made for more than youtube!!!

  • Watching this is like buying 2 shoes for the price of 1,

    1 singer + 1 bassist = 1 awesome artist

  • this song describes my last relationship. its outstanding....very well done.

  • this is my bartender at the restuarant I work at.

  • Who's this guy ? Famous bassist and famous singer I've never heard !

  • @petitbatteurmetaleux not famous...friend of mine i met working restaurant in Boston...he does have a small cult following derived from this one video. there are more of his tunes on my account, you can find him on FB/Myspace as well

  • @ericlepoutre

Are You serious ? This guy should be huge, very good bassist and singer, he should make a living from making music. But i guess music industry is fucked up this days, that's the reason why we see britney spears like singers on tv, not people like this guy. Shame.

  • @ericlepoutre why the hell not famous? dont get this world. every untalented idiot makes a million with what they call "music"

  • @ericlepoutre

IF you know him tell him that he's awesome and i am his biggest fan! :D

    cheers!

  • @Barcarus Defnetly not - I´m :D

  • @ericlepoutre not famous?? dude this is awesome... i used youtube converter and i already got this on my ipod... and it is making A LOT of sucsess between me and A LOT of my friends, here in BRAZIL... not famous? think twice... if this song was a potatoe, it would be a GOOD potatoe...

  • Oh my god that is just incredible good o.O

  • I´d like to see a drummer sync to this song, succesful.

  • @ickerolig personally i think that would ruin it. Hes pretty much doing bass line, melody, harmony, and with the mutes, slaps and pops, he makes the percussion part. He is literally a one man band.

  • @brythybo7 Yeah, ofc he´s an awesome bassist that should remain as a solo artist. But still, it would be fun to see something like a special performance with a drummer thats syncing with him Tomas Haake style

  • i'd still like to know what kind of bass that is

  • @cskarch Modulus?

  • @cskarch That is A Carvin my friend

  • TABS! I need those tabs! I'm sure the tabs are shaped like jesus!

  • @Rafu23 Ear training.

    Get on that.

  • Plz god make this guy famous so he can record more songs.... True inspiration for myself this is like the 87 th time I've watch this video

  • AMAZING!

  • What kind of bass does this guy use? anybody know?

  • @cskarch

it's not the bass that makes this sound....it's his skill :D

  • Man! this is so awesome! this guy deserves so many more views. im surprised i havent seen this vid on vh1 during week mornings. i know its a little old but it is still awesome!

  • the best song I've seen with a bass

    very very good

  • wow, anyone knows how many brains has he got?

  • I LIKE THE CHANGE HAPPENIN AT 2 53

  • Best song, evar!

  • Is it possible to have a tab of this song?

  • @Trallino yeah bro its called your ear... take some time and try your best to learn, its much more gratifying to learn a song by ear than by tabs any day...

  • @thabasszist finally someone.

  • @Trallino If you need tabs for this, you won't be able to play it!

  • people who don't like it don't understand talent, This guy is amazing.

  • i hope the person you sing about got the message

  • @x12sd i bet he can flick a bean

  • Friggin epic

  • nice 9/4 before the returning chorus

  • my name is nathan hughes too yayayayayay

  • Amazing... Very good playing and nice voice ! I'm so jealous man :) The best part is from 2:48 to 3:20 and intro of course...

  • F.U. guitar players!

  • @klavdimundi hahaha, you've got the point ;D

  • @klavdimundi LOL!

  • he should be applauded for his mastery. He's doing essentially what Vic does yet if it was Vic there would not be as much if any negative commentary. I enjoyed this performance and will look for more by him...peace

  • flamingo style bass

  • Slap bass sounds like sloppy pornography.

  • wow

  • 3:19 and the song just get´s that fuck everyone else feeling if you know what i mean ^^

  • sound is the best one that I've heard, the bass

  • 77 jealous guitarrists who do not handle 4 thick strings disliked this video !

  • @EddieBsB Can't believe that someone actually disliked the video xD

  • "Not the guy you see on stage who would rather play guitar but thinks its to hard." I don't think there's anyone who truly loves music playing bass for this particular reason, and if you are, you're a moron

  • just to clear this up!!!! you cant master either!!!!! there both a lifes long puzzle. thats why we keep playing. there is no master!!!!! and the great thing about music is something that might not sound good to you. may sound good to me. and vice versa. its not always the more complex songs that grab your heart!!! remember this!!!!!!

  • What impresses me the most is that he can sing while playing that shitload of genious bass lines. If I try to sing while playing solos I either miss the rythmn or can sing the melody corrctly.

  • Nathan is a Geniuous!

  • this is definitely the most beautiful thing that ever happened to a bass guitar

  • wow this so amazing

i'm a drummer myself but man bass is so awesome.

    bass has balls.

  • can i buy, download or steal this song anywhere on this planet?

  • Has he released a full album thats on the market?

  • The thing is... even without listening to the amazing bass... I really damn like the song! The vocal, lyrics and performance in general... it's addictive!

  • his bass not a standard tuning

  • this bass is carvin

  • What time signature is that ? Help! ;)

  • @MrCayuga - standard 4/4

  • AWESOME !!!!!!

    Just amazing <3

  • I saw this years ago, and I forgot the name of it..

I spent absolutely ages searching for it, genuinely ages, and got nothing..

Today I put "bassist" into the search bar and found it straight away.

LOL. Fml. Brilliant song though, brilliant bassist, brilliant video.

  • This guy needs bass lessons, he thinks it's a guitar! LOL, I kid...awesome playing, great song!

  • The song itself may not be the greatest but this is magical none the less! Congrats to Nathan and his tremendous talent

  • If you're good enough to even remotely play this song, you wouldn't need a tab. It would just slow you down. MAYBE if he was in an odd tuning, that'd be nice to know about.

  • @alecjahn yea does he have a High C or low B, anyone know?

  • @atomisk low B. don't know if he actually uses it in this song though.

  • watching this makes my thumb hurt

  • damn ... didnt know slingblade could play like that... "i reckon im gonna kill you with this here slingbass"

  • No, rap and pop most certainly ARE the enemy of creative music. Music corporations and their soulless production are the fuel behind rap and pop. This fellow is absolutely astounding.

  • I think is 87th time I watch to this video, as I "favorited" it...

All the time I watch to it I realize I have 2 ways:

1 - Study and practice bass guitar more and more...

2 - Leave it behind and go buy myself some coke...

  • fuck everytime i watch this i feel like throwing my bass to the ground

  • @onikiba the same

    ><

    but this sounds incredible

  • This was ridiculous and an inspiration. That was out of this world man!

  • this is brilliant ...

  • This is fantastic. Flea bass solo style slap bass, combined with pearl jam esque singing. Well, that but much much better. Nice style, great song. Is this available to buy anywhere?

  • isane

  • Muito bom o cara simplesmente e genial !!!!

  • Never seen this type of accompaniment. He is very talented. I'm check for competition my granddaughter has with her new video Absu Road. I think the competition is heavy duty.

  • he is my dady =)

  • PARABÉNS, TOCA MUITO!

  • oh god please stop singing and just stick with the bass. amazing playing

  • :o

    respect !!!

  • Enaurmousse.

  • my fav .... :o)

  • almost makes me wanna sell my gibson sg an buy a bass

  • Bass players from everywhere...

When someone tells you that bass has no importance or whatever... Show them this video...

  • EPIC

  • I think I died at 2:50

  • sooo awesome..... respect

  • Amazing

  • i putting my bass away, cos this guy PLAYS the bass, but i just play basslines.

    Awesome.

  • This is the result of a bass player who strives to be a good bassist. not because he just wants to be in a band, and he dosnt play because his band needed a bass more than a rhythm guitar,no this is what happens when someone is really commited to this instrument. Not the guy you see on stage who would rather play guitar but thinks its to hard. and for the record, bass is easier to learn, but waaaaay harder to master than the guitar.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6...FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS! lol

  • @TheFoRizzles

    thankyou

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 Man... I really appreciate what you said !!! Great. Great !!!

  • @EddieBsB

    Thank you.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 YOU ARE SOOOOOO Rite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 i agree with that last bit of your comment. i play guitar and bass and like you said bass is waaaaay harder. still like playin bass over guitar

  • @remainthesame

What's wrong with the first part?

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 nothing, i agree with that too, i just really agree with the later part

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 You made my day, sir. Finally someone who has got it.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 I find bass equally hard to guitar. Its just if you want to play as mediocre pick bassist, or learn even more. Guitar doesnt give you this choice.

  • @FleshStarvingBass

There are very great pick bass players. Well you and I are two different people my friend. I've played both since I was four and have always found bass to be the harder in the end.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 There are pick bass players I do respect, for example Marco Hietala or David Ellefson, but these are not the ones I mean. I meant mediocre players, like Blink 182, Offspring and so on... common-place metal bands.

To the point, I don't like when people keep saying bass is easy/easiest instrument. And still, I meet those people.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 nope

bass isn't easier to learn and not harder to master than guitar imo

(btw, how can you even think of mastering an instrument?)

  • @Dulac91

Opinions, opionions, opinions. Read below comments because I really don't care to relist typed things.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 harder to master? have u mastered both have you ?

  • @spirogrinder2

If I may say so myself.

  • @spirogrinder2 the biggest part of the music community favors towards the bass when it comes to hard to master.. A bass in a band has to do much more and is much more important then a solo guitarist, even though most people don't think so... A solo guitar only has to pay attention to himself, bass has to pay attention to everyone playing and still make the whole thing rock.. And solo bass is even harder to make it sound like no instrument is missing in the mix..

  • @darktuning19 i agree with parts of what your saying. however u really make yourself sound like a douchebag when you talk about mastery. what do u do for a living? whoopi cusion enthusiast ? i bet..

  • @spirogrinder2 if pointing out something makes me a douchebag then so be it... At least I don't try to attack people I don't know simply because I don't agree or have nothing better to say to defend my point...

    so yeah... jokes on you..

  • @darktuning19 did u notice the dude playing bass up there? hes pretty awesome! ehehehe

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 No... This is a result of a solo artist that lacks any groove or fundamentals... And he looks like the wrestler Kane, which is cool.

  • @dzacharyharris

STOP COMMENTING. i GET A RETARDED YAHOO THING EVERYTIME SOMEONE COMMENTS.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 as i'm a classical guitarist i will have to denie this statement. if you talk about really mastering an instrument, all instruments are on the same level, because you can always get better skilled. you can always reach a higher level.

  • @1shin123

But if you can do the same thing o this as you can do on guitar (extended range basses) and more techniques would mastering it not equal harder? I'm sure you will come up with something to equal my statement, however what I have said is my honest opinion. Iplay both at what most would consider master level, (if it can be considered a level) and I honestly think bass i the more difficult.

  • Nathan Hughes you're great and that i love bass guitar.

  • who can even remotley tell me how to play this. i turned internet up side down and back for tabs and found nothing... HELP!!!!!!!!!! :-D

  • this is awesome :D and he is great singer :)

  • holy fff....shit.

  • How is your tumb?

And how much do you get laid now compaired to before you came up with this?

And finaly, how do you get the pieces off flesh off the strings after playing?

    A classic :)

  • Thanks for watching!

    Still working on new music.

    Any requests?

  • @nathanhughes Yeah! An album. =) Maybe a bandcamp release if you don't have a contract with a label. We really want to hear more from you.

  • @nathanhughes

I just want to hear as much from you as possible. That is seriously my only request. You are incredible... please make an album or something!!!

  • Any updates ? It's been 4+ years since this video come out. Have Nathan stopped doing music?
