  • RIP Alan Hale Jr.

  • Best Gilligan's Island EVER!

  • Good advice. Don't lend things and don't borrow. Polonius is wise.

  • As long as I live, I will never forget this episode. I remember every word of very song on that episode.

  • @Sheri451 Agreed, this episode was the stuff of legend. Alan Hale was such a sweetie! I sure miss him.

  • @phogroian He was my favorite on Gilligan's Island, Dawn Wells was my next favorite. BTW did you know Dawn was tone deaf? Everyone said she sang just like she did in the episode where she hit her head and thought she was Ginger, they said they had a professional singer dub in her singing.the late Bob Denver (I loved him too) said Dawn would start singing and mess them all up.

  • Love it!!

When I was in high school this helped me to learn Shakespeare. And I also had little help from Maurice, Samantha's father on Bewitched.

  • America's debt under Obama has hit $15 trilion dollars today.

  • @SuperMegaUberGenius someone should send this to the Republicans so they can use it to mock Obama.

  • See maryann looks like a boy next to ginger .

    lol

  • Last time something this cool happened was the Atomic Shakespeare episode of Moonlighting with their spin on "The Taming of the Shrew."

  • I just went to see Carmen today, and all I could think about were the Gilligan's island lyrics from my childhood!

  • Mary Ann is gorgeous-And whatinthehell is Phil Silvers doing on the island?

  • this is Great Art

  • Its a play within a play within a play.............I dont mind being the audience on any level

  • I'm 47 and I still sing this lol :)

  • I never realized how good they were at playing amateurs. That must take chops.

  • This is the only shakeaspeare i've ever been exposed it

never forgot it, though, even after over 40 years.

  • Some people criticize 'Gilligan's Island' for being an idiotic show. But 95 percent of the sitcoms of the last 20 years would never touch 'Carmen' or 'Hamlet' -- let alone both. -

  • Ditto Thx1138d!

  • Tina Louise looks like she is in ticked off or in pain.

  • @mje2k I think she's in character (as Ophelia)

  • Thanks for the posting. This is great!

  • Hard to believe television critics at the time totally dismissed "Gilligan's Island" as dumb slapstick when it was obviously so much more.

  • Why is embeding turned off? I so badly want to include this in my blog. :(

  • @cbpotts you can actually share it under blogger,or did you try that already?

  • Wow, now Shakespeare's finally starting to make sense to me...

  • I was in a (very) amateur production of Hamlet once. After the curtain call the final night, the entire cast sang this song for the audience.

  • @MarylandBear1 That sounds so cool & funny! I wish you had vedio of it.

  • Gosh you can find anything on you tube. I had this in my head this AM

  • OMG! this was always one of my favorite episodes as a child!! Thank you for posting!!

  • We wouldn't be facing a crisis of sovereign debt (PIIGS), state debt (CA), and municipal (county/city) debt around the world if our political "leaders" had as much common sense as Shakespear or simply watched Gilligan's Island. This is a great song to teach your children.

  • @phantominca Word up!

  • Believe it or not this song had a big influence on me as a kid

  • One of my favourite scenes in television history!! Great advice too. Sadly, not too many people heed it.

  • LOVE IT! As a debt free nut myself, I've been singing this bit since I was a kid.

  • Classic scene from one of the best episodes.
