If you like Cod4 style arcade shooters, then No, you won't like this game. Socom is a teamwork oriented game, you NEED a headset, it's really not optional if you want to win most matches, and if you don't like comunicating with your team and get inpatient and run around COD style, then this game will bore you to death, and THAT'S what i love about it, it is completely ANTI-NOOB, most of the people who complain about this game, do it because they wnat another brainless Cod game, this is NOT it..

If you've never played a socom game before, then you deffinetly should rent it first. The reason for that, is that socom style gameplay is not for every shooter fan, it's not an arcade style run and gun game, It's more like a combat simulator, and realistic combat tactics are not fun for everyone. You need lots of patience, and you have to take your time to learn the controls and all the functions, rent it first, take your time with it, and make a good informed choice, good luck...

Block buster should have it for rent, just don't spend the money without trying t, remenber it has no campaign, wich means that if you don't like the multiplayer then you will have lost your money, however if you DO need a headset, buy the one with the blutooth, that way even if you don't like the game, you still got the headset.

It has MAG, Infamous, Prototype and God Of War 3 coming up. I switched from 360 to PS3, and am lovin it!

in socom (any series) you have to detonate them by urself (just like a c4). pmn mines is what acts like a claymore, except it doesn't have a radius for you to trip over it; you have to step directly on top of it.

some more tips: whenever your character starts pointing his gun like he's looking through the sights, that there is an enemy nearby. It's a useful little secret.

C4 is used for breaching missions, you set them on doors and they have a timer to detonate.

Claymores are a defensive device that blows forward. When defending, you place them facing doors or the bomb site and hide somewhere and you can take out an attacker, prevent someone from placing the bomb, or taking out the person that already planted it, so you can go safely defuse it.
