This is my take on this version:  Yes Gary Jules must receive the credit for this song. Someone mentioned his simplicity of his version. I really have to give props to Adam Lambert for his version. It is very spiritual type of candor. The eeriness of it proposes exactly what this song is supposed to portray. I personally have lived a hellatious life and it allows me to relate to this song as a result. This version is beautiful.

I really loved it and then my teacher said 'Hey, I think you'll fall in love with Donnie Darko, but you have to download Director's Cut version!' and he wasn't mistaken - I fell in love with that film and I fell in love in that song. It perfectly shows all sides of Donnie Darko and it's why I think that Gary Jules' version is the best - because it's simple, but it's breathtaking in its simplicity.
