@massiveattack786 Yeah, In the original release Cygnus X remixed this track keeping the acid riff at it's core and then adding a separate and original melody to their remix. Ferry Corsten used Cygnus X's melody in his remix and so too did Durand. In effect, It's a remix of a remix of a remix. There's little to no traces of the original in Durand's mix.
I have the vinyl. This is the original mix. On the other hand, anyone who has listened to the Art of Trance albums, knows that this is the classic ART OF TRANCE SOUND and STYLE!!!! Great upload, thank you!
@Cian1986 Did you read the comments replied to by the upper, under the video? He explains why there is confusion about this track, so that idiots like yourself can get it into their thick skulls. I guess it's all in vein though, being the utter ignorant fukwit that you are.
@orrefis Oh that was a very harsh comment i wrote there. I was pissed when i wrote that just looking for the song and must have been getting a bit frustrated. thanks for the abuse back all the same champion. haha
Sorry to burst your bubble..this is not the orignal mix...I have the single on cd...Its paper back and bottle green cover...3 mixes -push remix edit,-ferry corsten remix,-domi nation remix 1992..?????
I always wanted to hear the Original Mix, since I listened to the Cygnus X Remix from Magik 3 album and lately the Richard Durand Remix. These sounds really get you into '98 Trance (when they used to do real Trance xD). Thanks for uploading this great song. I really get into it.
This is the album version of the track. The single version on platipus is considered the original as it came out before the album with terra firma as the b side. As far as im aware there were no remixes until 2000. I worked with simon berry aka art of trance in the late 90's doing mixes on pirate radio in manchester. p.s dont get confused between this and madagasga which is an entirely different track from 1998. People need to stop posting tripe.
Yes as everyone is pointing out, not released until 98. @normq, check out discogs and see for yourself. If you have proof of a release 5 years earlier than that I suggest you post an url :)
the first time i heard Madagascar was the original, that was 5 years ago. ever since i've only heard the other popular remixes. now i find myself prefering this old school mix.
this was probably my first classic trance song i heard. at first i wasn't so accepting of it and never ventured off the new mainstream stuff, but soon the classics became the only type of trance that i could listen to.
This is the original mix from 1993, some of you guys are thinking of the 1998/99 mix. saying that i still prefer the new mix from the likes of ferry corsten and cygnus x. i remember hearing the tune for the first time on an album called 1999 Year of Trance. Great tune.
@maxxeclipse88 Eh no, as i explained in my comment this is the very first version of the tune Madagascar from 1993. Look it up, the madagascar tune everyone knows is the 1998/99 remix.
@normq I did the research; the first known release of Madagascar was as "Madagasca" in 1998 on the Platipus records. The initial release was pressed with the original mix and the Cygnus X remix on vinyl. No internet search has yielded any sort of source quoting the track existing in 1993, unless the track existed strictly underground for 5 years prior to pressing in 1998, which doesn't make much sense (to me) as Art Of Trance had already been active since 1993. Why would they wait?
Yes i confirm that Madagascar began to exit in1993, i've yet played its track in my radioshow "TopTec MaxiMax" in 1994, on Horizon Fm radio in Normandy (France).
soz for being rude man, that wasn't necessary.. anyway; as said before, that was a misprint, which sadly happens quite often.. i must say the original mix always was lesser known than the cygnus x remix, whereof also most known remixes were subtracted; such as the ferry corsten and transa remix.
@nudgexs I can tell you that this edit is definitely the original on this 12": PLAT43 (1998), and let me tell you another thing: most of the mixes you guys seem to know is some kind of re-edit of the cygnus x-remix, so these are remixes of the remix ;)
@nudgexs i am sorry, there is a third thing i do not agree in your posting: you can tell by the sounds that this rather is the sound of the early respectively mid 90s acid trance, so from my point of views this kind of sound is absolutely pre 1998/99
I've loved this track for years and never realised it was not the original I was listening to until now, doh... as a lover of the acid sound I was pleasantly surprised!!!
Good man for putting in the link to discogs... Knew I could hear a bit he also used in another one of his alias productions "Union Jack" the track "Cactus"... Legend.

guys, this is NOT the original mix. . . .anyone who has Gatecrasher Black the original mix is on there and is different to this
you can tell by the sounds on the track that this is definatly post 1998/9
nudgexs 2 years ago
that's because the name of the track is misspelled on that CD.
i heard the track in the CD and its sound coincide with the Ferry Corsten Remix.
For more info, I tell you that this remix was popularly known as the Original mix, but this is wrong.
