Save your money. Sounds like a good deal but isn't worth the trouble. After installing magicJack into my computer, I had the cops show up at my house 3 times because the phone was ghost dialing 911. The only way to disable this was by changing my info with magicjack from my real address to a fictitious one 911 could not recognize. More recently, I have chosen to get a land line but wanted to keep my magicJack number. If you do this, know that magicJack will charge you over 30 bucks to port out!

I am really happy with mine.i bought one for my mom and even transfer her old number for a fee. and it really work.sometimes u have to restart to computer or open file urself to work.But,so far i had mine for 2 yrs.and really happy.I tell everyone.also one time mine voicemail wont work,and live agent restarted everything for me.and everything started working.it also has call forward and i use mine when i wont be home and forward to the number i select.

@cjstevens56 having problems with mine.. when im making a phone call some recording always says "you have reached Ymax test numbers, this call has been successful" and im not dialling any test numbers at all.. every single number i dialed all have the same results... any suggestions?

@med87 i destroyed mine 2 weeks ago.. it seems that one wrong configuration (like account registering) can screw up the hardware.. that was a waste of 30 bucks.. so yeah, i ran it over with my car, atleast i had fun destroying it.. lol

whenever I load it, the registration form never loads! why is this? I even click on the "click to register" in the lower-left. it just never loads. I tried customer service but they didn't help at all.

@BlanFan2O mine does the same thing. but I do not even see "click to register" in the lower left corner. it just keeps telling me that "magic jack is unable to contact our registration server". I tried the live agents and nothing is working even turned firewall off..etc...now they are trying to access my computer to solve the issue. Hope it works soon. So disappointed...been trying for a few hours now

@BlanFan2O @BlanFan2O finally got mine working that same day. Had to talk to 3 live agents, what they ended up doing was getting into my computer, i gave them permission, and they did what they needed to do and it started to work after an hour or 2. Now I am using my magicjack with no problems. SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! Maybe you should request a technician that knows how to get into your computer and take care of setting everything up for you.

@ealkass Uhmm, well not really because its like a yearly subscription to tell you the truth. the one on the video if I;m not mistaken is how it will open if you have a MAC.

I call my grandmother in Belgium with this and I even sent her one and she has a Canadian number for me to be able to call her with my cell phone or anything too.

I've been using MJ for almost a year and had minor problems before, but restarting the computer or disconnecting/reconnecting MJ fixed the problems.

Now, I'm Canadian so I have to use an American phone number because the company that created MJ still don't have Canadian numbers. But regardless, I'm still satisfied because I have many relatives in US. Plus, it allows me to make free long distance calls to Canada, since I have US number, so I'm happy.

It's VOIP, so yes, conversations can be recorded that way. But one thing though, you have to be using the Soft-Phone (the program that launches when you connect MagicJack to your computer) in order to actually be able to record conversations, because I've tried it before and that was the only way.
