@TWutangT i agree. i've done this with cops doing the speed limit @ 100km/h and me doing 110. i've also followed cops doing 120 with a limit of 100 and they never stopped me, but if what yayoirc is true (according to the description) then they have a valid reason to do so. they weren't bothering the guy in front of them going more than the limit and this guy was doing more than 10mph above. assuming the same is true for you as here in canada, they usually dont bother you until you hit over 15km
Maybe the car in the fast lane had to get off at the next exit and choose to pass to get over to the right lane since there was no space behind to merge safely.

I think he moved to the slower lane without signalling. That's when the cop started flashing his lights. IMO, it is not wrong to pass a car when you are in the "passing lane". Just make sure you go back to the slower lane.
I was once driving in PA and was at about 75 MPH on a 60mph highway, night time. Move to the slower lane to slow down and because there was this car behind me tailgating. Shock to find out it was a cop and drove pass me to pull over another car in front of us.
I have actually gotten pulled over while the squad car was beside me, he just rolled down the window, pointed at me and nodded to the side, Turned out I was not supposed to stay in the fast lane all the time, and that if I'm not over taking anyone, I would need to come out. I have never heard of this stuff in Florida.

Although I'm trying to become a cop, so many cops are fucking dicks... I can't count how many times I've been driving behind a cop going 95km/h I'm passing at 100 he'll flip on the lights, speed up and not let me pass.
Pretty pathetic really, but theres dicks that abuse power in every workplace.

if you excede the speed limit to pass regardless of how much you are inviting that officer to pull you over.Lets say its only 5 mph,its still breaking the law.You now have drawn attention to you and that officer will look for expired tags,tint,equipment failures(eg.burt out tail light),improper lane change,run your plates,impairment and list goes on.Depends on the cop and his mood if u get pulled over.Alot of minor traffic offences lead to bigger things.

I think he moved to the slower lane without signalling. That's when the cop started flashing his lights. IMO, it is not wrong to pass a car when you are in the "passing lane". Just make sure you go back to the slower lane.
I was once driving in PA and was at about 75 MPH on a 60mph highway, night time. Move to the slower lane to slow down and because there was this car behind me tailgating. Shock to find out it was a cop and drove pass me to pull over another car in front of us.

I have actually gotten pulled over while the squad car was beside me, he just rolled down the window, pointed at me and nodded to the side, Turned out I was not supposed to stay in the fast lane all the time, and that if I'm not over taking anyone, I would need to come out. I have never heard of this stuff in Florida.

@arson519 Ever wonder the reason for that? They probably just like scoping out the people who pass them checking them for potential violations. Tint too dark... illegal accessories... seat belt violations... expired tags... etc. It is NEVER a good idea to pass a cop regardless of how fast they are going. Unless you are Snow White without anything to fear and you absolutely know the cop is going 5 under the speed limit then I would always recommend getting behind that guy.

Pull me over, right the ticket, we will see what the judge and my lawyer have to say about that officers interpritation of the law. Just because a cop says it, in NO WAY does that make it so..Dont live in fear of your civil servants...they work for you, they dont like to admit it, but they do.

I can promise you that cops do not like to drive on the freeways because they know they create traffic problems because nobody will pass them. If a cop is going below the speed limit then he is baiting you. Your lawyer will not get you out of a ticket if you get a citation for illegal tint, expired plates, or whatever is wrong. They are called "LAW ENFORCEMENT".

in most places cops only allow up tp 5 over. this cop was nice enough to allow 10 over. if the cop is speeding and you pass him, you bet he's pulling you over. 5 over can be a mistake, 10 over is a stretch but still possible, but more than that and you're just playing with fire.

That was entrapment, this video could have saved that guy a ticket. You see the cop speed up as the car tries to pass him so the car has to speed up as well. What was that car supposed to do? Break and pull in behind the pig? Besides, that car couldn't have been going more than 2 mph faster than traffic there!
