If it IS Clapton, he must have spent a year learning it!! Look at the young kids on youtube (young Korean boy aged 11 etc), and still tell me "Clapton is God". I was playing this years ago from original Mason Williams notation, not tab!! Tablature has opened up everything to everybody, and quite rightly so. What is all the fuss about Clapton. As a guitar teacher, i am amazed at the unknown bedroom playing talent on youtube, and even I've learned a few tricks guitar wise from these kids!
But movie titles says: Eric Clapton. I know this one's arguable. But as long as this clip is from movie I'll stick to Clapton. Even though I agree that it's Mason's Williams track.
As a Clapton's fan and somebody who has studied his guitar style I can tell for shure that Eric Clapton is not able to play this tune, with all respect to his all work and creativity.Hi is not that fast and sophisticated as Mason Williams.
The Story of Us (1999) ( Eric Clapton writer: "(I) Get Lost", "Wonderful Tonight") (performer: "(I) Get Lost", "Wonderful Tonight") (producer: "(I) Get Lost")
I'm sorry to say mate that I have just watched this film on TCM and watched the end credits to check who performed the version on this scene. It is Mason Williams solo version from his 1970 album. Eric Clapton was the musical director for the film and performed some of the musical scores as well as his on music, but sorry to say not this one. Never mind anyway.
