The wind played with this great tenor!!!, i guess that if they had putted a stand for the score and a satnding microphone, we would have done it perfectly as he ussaully does!!!. Please don't be hard on him, he did not had the facilities necesary to perform at the open....he is still one of my favorite tenors!!!!...Bravo!!!

It's incredible that there had been such a bad organization. The voice is great, Marcello Giordani is a great tenor, but without doubt he needed a music stand. Surely because he had trouble with the papers, he sang wrongly many parts of the hymn; obviously, the Holy Father noticed that.

In actual fact, he can refer to the music while he sings this piece. It can be part of the formality....totally acceptable. It depends on where you studied!

That seemed very unprofessional. Don't use a cheap folder on a windy day. At least in DC they gave Domingo a podium with a fixed mic. This was like, "Ok, here is a mic and folder. Go sing!" He looked less like a World Class Opera singer, and more like Dean Martin.

First: If you are standig in front of the holy father you should know this aria and you must not read each word from the paper.

At the begin the singer is complete wrong to the music. The music is 5 Seconds forward. Its horrible for the ears!

In the folow tunes the singer is a lot of times to slow and the music is forward.

Than the wind makes it imposible to read the papers. How it: Buy a complete book with this aria and do not stand in the front of Papal with a copy shop version of this aria!!!

Benedictus seems to be annoyed at this Italian's bawling of panis, which btw why is he singing it to the pope? the aria refers to the eucharist not to Herr Ratzinger

Absolutely amazing! I'll never forget when I watched this live on tv when it happened. Poor guy, he has what I call the Sicilian Luck. We can't ever seem to get a break, lol.

He should have had this memorized. This is a standard, something which every good singer should know by heart. I know the situation was difficult and perhaps he was flustered by it all. I do feel sorry for him.

his is an amazing tenor but in comparison with Domingo musicality in the same Panis Angelicus he has to coach the song again. The wing the music score and the microphone is not good at the same time.
