Man people are pretty hard on this video. Yes it is cheesy but the early 80's were full of it and I actually find it entertaining to watch. Ann looks great here (gawd what a cleavage) and this is the last time a video would not try and hide her figure. Could have been much worse.
@TheWhalerfan totally agree. still a great song and early 80's videos all look really cheesy nowadays. and you're dead on about Ann. this was the last time they didn't try to hide the body. in fact she shoulda showed more of those guns in this video. what a rack.
@TheWhalerfan Thanks a lot, I'm a fan of his work because this guy has been around forever and gets no recognition as far as I'm concerned. I love Ann and Nancy too but without Leese it would be just like it is now with Def Lepard without Steve Clark you know what I mean?

It's such a shame the Wilson sisters have turned their back on their 80's fans and music. Not only were their biggest selling singles and albums released in the 80's (fact) but it was also some of their best material. This song is proof positive. I would never go see them now. It's like they're acting as if the band only existed in the 70's. I can't stand it when musicians do this type of thing. Totally disrespectful to the fans. Kiss has become the same way. Fools.
@compworld1 the HEART music U and I love from the 80's wasnt really HEART...that was music they wrote and performed to meet their contract obligations to write a certain # of Top 20 hits for their record label...the music that HEART really loved and wanted to perform wasnt TOP 20 material in the mid and late 80's...(they were a 70's band that "adjusted" to the 80's) Ann and Nancy talk about this in several written interviews back in the early 90's ...
@acerr40 Thats not true at all. Only the album Magazine falls under that category. Contractual obligation. Everything after was created by Heart or for Heart. You should know this. Your being absurd. They worked fricking hard on Passionworks and everything after.
@drbotanus well...never said they didnt work hard on HEART and BAD ANIMALS...just that it really wasnt the style of music they really wanted to create...from what I remember reading, Ann and Nancy chose to continue in late 84 with Capital Records...(along with the rest of the band of course) but stated they realized they would need to change their style from what they were most comfortable with, to remain relevant in the mid and late 80's...but it wasnt the music they most wanted2do
Ann and Nancy Wilson, along with band mates, ROCK!!! This group is so talented! This song IS underrated, because it is one of the BEST! Keep on rocking!

Coincidently, if I'm remember right, when I came home from the hospital as a newborn, my parents house, was literally only a few blocks west of the high school Ann was just finishing up at, or had just recently left. I was dragged to AZ when quite young, but I've always thought that was an amazing coincidence. Probably nothing more, but now that I'm older, I'm dieing/planning to move back to the Pacific NW in a few. That area of the country just calls to me/feels like home. Anywho, back to topic
Just came back to comment, and hadn't listened to this in a few weeks. First thought that comes to mind, is WOW. Never heard a love/lust song with this kinda energy. Or one that fits me so well. She is speaking this now 42 year young dudes language, bigtime!!!!
Makes me bang my head and wanna play air guitar still. This might be my favorite song, period. Though I love many others, this just stirs a ton of emotion, every time, without fail.
ann was such a badass...i can still remember every detail of my life when i got this album. those were some powerful days for me and the man i loved back then. wonder if he ever hears it and remembers me ??? goooood song
@perrier81579 Im sure if he ever hears it, he thinks of you. If he had any feelings for you. He probably thinks of you whether he hears this song or not. I say this because i know i still think of my favorite girls from the past!! 2 and a half yrs ago i got in touch with a past girlfriend after exactly 20 yrs apart and we had another passionate fling! Sadly, it only lasted 3 months, much like our first relationship, but i will still cherish ALL the memories i had with Buffy!!!
@MegaWolfz And I bet u r one hot dude. lmfao Your probably fat and bald. Quit being so superficial. That alone makes a person ugly as hell. Looks arent everything. And I happen to think Ann is still very attractive. Im sure you wouldve never had a chance in hell to get with her. Shes got too much class for a jerk like you.
Saw Heart in 85 and 87 at Vets Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix - Heart and Bad Animals Tours I think. Been a long time. Remember that Y&T opened for them on the first gig I saw.
One of Heart's most underrated forgotten songs. They should play this on their new tour with Def Leppard this summer.Ann Wilson has an amazing voice.Heart is one band I'm surprised was never asked to play a halftime show at the Super Bowl.
Damn did I just love it when Ann & Nancy (along w/many other classic rockers in the audience at the Grammy's) booed Lady CaCa when she won a Grammy. Ann & Nancy are apparently not impressed w/today's music especially Lady CaCa & I loved the hell out of it when CaCa got booed at the Grammy's. It disturbs me how many parents think it's ok to take their teen & preteen kids to see that sick freak in concert. WTF is wrong w/people?! Those parents need their heads examined.
I agree. Totally underrated song. IMO, while not dogging on Heart at all (cuz I love em), Passionworks was the last album that had any real "hard rock" edge to it. They got a little too mainstream "pop" for me (enter "What About Love").
@Quarrymen69 listen to here on youtube, from Heart, the night, shell shock, rage, bad animals, any of their Led Zepp covers, to name only a few; the great thing about Heart?
They can rock, and hard, then sing you to sleep, like say, Mona Lisa's and mad hatters, a cover from Elton John,
or , under the sky, nada one,....again only a few, I encourage you to check out these gems I think you'll love the adventure!
One of my favorite Heart songs ever, probably in my top five. If this is released two years later, it goes into the Top 20 easily. As far as the video, I have always been miffed by the concept portion. But I think that Nancy and Ann's earrings (note Nancy is wearing one on her left ear, and Ann's is on her right) are replicas of that sphere. In any event, Nancy Wilson is so unbelievably beautiful I have no problem overlooking a concept flaw.
Amazing song. Amazing group.... grew up absolutely loving Heart, no female artists or bands today can touch them in talent. It is too bad that Ann gained all that weight though because she was stunning.
It was a good song but hard rock/metal was in full swing back then and I think most fans were wanting to hear more "Barracuda" and less light to medium rockers.
@40ghostrider The Wilsons are just spectacular in every way. Until I saw and heard them I didn't believe so much talent, class, and beauty were possible.
@Omniculler LOL I actually remember liking that part from when I was a young teen watching "Friday Night Videos" in the early 80's. This was the first Heart video I can remember seeing and it ensured I paid attention to the ones that came in '85.
@alexmonger11 Now that I believe. Ann from the 70's and definetly 80's is basically my dream girl. I've chased girls of all appearance types, and I gotta say. The ones with the sexual energy and heart/spirit, I've been in love with far more than ones that just had what our culture/media might say have the best appearance. Heck, when I think back, the hottest ladies I've had in my life, have been the ones with the inner beauty overflowing. But I think Ann is smokin hot on the outside too.
The late-era disco vibe of semi-sinister nocturnal seduction led to a remake of Dracula as a Broadway musical, starring Frank Langella, there was even a follow-up film, very good if with some weak spots - (check the scene where van Helsing has to kill his own daughter, now undead) -- so having a creepy vampire-like guy in the audience is just a nod to the vibe at the time - the Chris Lee-lookalike is off-putting, though. I like the song, it's passionate and upbeat, not dark at all -
First time seeing this video. Kind of strange.... I LOVE this song, though! It reminds me of a new relationship that's just on fire. The video did not do the song justice.
There are some songs that seem to fall through the cracks, only for us to discover years later, this is one of them, fantastic song!! I'm playing it around the clock!!
I remember this song from the fall of 1983.....just did miss hitting the top 40..cant figure out why...it should have hit the top 10......the guy in this video does look creepy....sort of like that Professor Snapes guy in the Harry Potter movies
@1996THEART Yeah. right on!..NOW ...BACK TO THE STRANGE MAN IN THE VIDEO...WHAT IS UP WITH HIM AND WOULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE PREMISE OR STORYLINE? HOW HARD WOULD IT REALLY BE TO REFUSE THAT GUY ANY THING...i WOULD TELL HIM "NO" TO A GLASS OF WATER!!!!...DAMN!!!!!!!
@40ghostrider Ann was involved with the band manager, Mike Fisher, and Nancy was involved with guitarist Roger Fisher. By this point, Roger Fisher was replaced by Howard Leese, Mike Fisher was gone, and bass player Steve Fossen was replaced by Mark Andes. But I gotta say that as a mediocre bass player, when I can play all of Mark Andes' parts with no problem, I think he was hired 'case he was pretty. ;-)
@sm1else true, when mark andes joined heart he and ann had a fling, he talks about it on his website. and there are pics of them kissing. mark is llegendary, having palyed for spirit, jojo gunne, and firefall before heart. yes ann wanted him in band for his looks
@sm1else Yah. He was the session guy when Mike Fliker produced them. But he joined the group and he, Roger F, Steve fossen and Mike Derosier along with the Wilsons made up Heart. Check out the making of Little Queen stuff. Pretty cool. ;)
@34point5ish I just did. Very cool! And speaking of Roger Fisher, he's apparently hanging out with Queensryche. I hope he tours with them. (It won't let me post a youtube url in this message, but do a search for him and Silent Lucidity. He looks good.)
@sm1else Yah. He was the session guy when Mike Flicker produced them. But he joined the group and he, Roger F, Steve fossen and Mike Derosier along with the Wilsons made up Heart. Check out the making of Little Queen stuff. Pretty cool. ;)
Really odd that this album flopped. I mean it wasn't "Dreamboat Annie", but it sounded very in tune with what was being played in 1983 and was IMO much better than "Private Audition". Before You Tube I had totally forgotten that this song and "Sleep Alone" are pretty good cuts!
@TheWhalerfan I love this song. I just assumed that the album flopped at the time because 2 original members left and they just kind of hopped on the 80s bandwagon. I love the 80s though and the 80s stuff that many 70s rockers did were their best efforts.
@60BloodyChamp60 Yeah, you are right, they did hop on the 80's bandwagon. Most of the songs from the early 80's were pretty decent (except "Break"..ugh) but the absence of Roger Fisher was very noticeable in the sound. More straight ahead rock songs, done very well, but less originality than their first 4 albums. I am still surprised that there weren't enough remaining fans to keep from getting dropped from their label...this wasn't a one hit wonder group, they had 5 huge albums.
@TheWhalerfan Well Bebe Le Strange was only successful because of previous albums, it was a mediocre effort. Which led to Private Audition which was a verifiable
My favorite Heart song...not sure why it is so overlooked.

I liked many songs by heart .. I remember this one. I really liked this song... thanks for posting

Vanasse1 1 year ago
It was a good song but hard rock/metal was in full swing back then and I think most fans were wanting to hear more "Barracuda" and less light to medium rockers.

I can't believe this wasn't a hit for them.

@Omniculler LOL I actually remember liking that part from when I was a young teen watching "Friday Night Videos" in the early 80's. This was the first Heart video I can remember seeing and it ensured I paid attention to the ones that came in '85.

alexmonger11 9 months ago

But I gotta say that as a mediocre bass player, when I can play all of Mark Andes' parts with no problem, I think he was hired 'case he was pretty. ;-)
sm1else 10 months ago

TheWhalerfan 1 year ago 2
@TheWhalerfan I love this song. I just assumed that the album flopped at the time because 2 original members left and they just kind of hopped on the 80s bandwagon. I love the 80s though and the 80s stuff that many 70s rockers did were their best efforts.
60BloodyChamp60 1 year ago
@60BloodyChamp60 Yeah, you are right, they did hop on the 80's bandwagon. Most of the songs from the early 80's were pretty decent (except "Break"..ugh) but the absence of Roger Fisher was very noticeable in the sound. More straight ahead rock songs, done very well, but less originality than their first 4 albums. I am still surprised that there weren't enough remaining fans to keep from getting dropped from their label...this wasn't a one hit wonder group, they had 5 huge albums.
TheWhalerfan 1 year ago
@TheWhalerfan Well Bebe Le Strange was only successful because of previous albums, it was a mediocre effort. Which led to Private Audition which was a verifiable
