As a professional instructor, Sonie Lasker is highly regarded throughout the world and I highly recommend her. - Patrick McCarthy Karate 8th Dan, Australia
Jeet Kune Do classes are hard to find in a lot of places and martial arts is martial arts. If you enjoy what you're doing and you're growing stronger then the style doesn't really matter.
JKD classes are kind of hard to come by in some places. Besides martial arts is martial arts so if you enjoy what you're doing and you're getting stronger then the style you practice doesn't matter.
She wanted to take up a martial art; so she chose karate. She didn't have to choose Kung Fu nor did she take up Karate just because of Bruce Lee. The way Bruce Lee moved and fought probably motivated her to study some kind martial art.
@poorashit It's about making positive changes in your life by being motivated and inspired. Martial arts was the catalyst for Sensei Lasker to impact her life in a meaningful way. The weight loss was a by product of her training. The message is, find what you love everything else falls into place. Life works as a system. Positive behavior breeds positive results.
Martial arts are so beneficial to people. I pity those I see who think they know how to fight. if they just stopped and thought about it, if everybody knew how to fight, why would martial arts exist? Why would the be called art? Makes no sense to me!
Martial arts have changed my life too!!! I started going to Taekwondo once a week three years ago and I have become totally addicted. I now train at three different clubs because I can't get enough of it. Some weeks I train 4-5 times. I would train more if I wasn't so wrecked after all that kicking!! I recommend martial arts (not just taekwondo) to anyone looking to change there life for the better. It has given me purpose.
When i think of MMA,i think of Jiu jutsu and i think its bull shit, MMA should have more styles like kung fu, what i see fights in MMA, i only see strikes like boxing and kick boxing, and the bullshit jujutsu, so what if MMA girls have more power in strikes than her, its only karate, she only does it for self defense and you dont know the power of a strike in karate judocrazy714
sk8pirata : hey, i did ju-jitsu for about 4 years and it mean "the gentle art" and it really works. so unless youve done ju-jitsu, then shut ur fuckin mouth. it ain't bullshit.
A lot of people have accomplished those things and achieve the same benefits. The women in MMA are better trained for combat arts and are more powerful. A lot of girls at our academy can strike harder than her.
Karate is more than just punching and kicking...it is an art and a lifestyle. Being tough doesn't make you a good person, a good martial artist is capable in self defense AND well rounded in life. The world is full of cocky tough people who have no clue on how to live or contribute to the world in any positive way. It's a matter of preference and lifestyle...to each his or her own.

lol what do you mean by bullshit? Do you question the legitimacy of the techniques? Like that the chokes aren't actually choking people?
Or do you think all the guys that are fighting are just improvising their grappling on the spot?
What do you mean by bullshit?
