yeah.. i think it's very childish to say federer won bcuz of nadal's absence in the final. rafa wasn't absent at all. he lost while getting there. 100 percent or not is not an excuse. anyways my point is, winning a slam isn't about defeating one person. if rafa did not manage to get himself  to the finals of RG this year cuz of injury, fed managed to get to the finals while carrying history on his shoulders. I guess people doesn't see that.i'm happy fed is free of that now.

Well the problem with that is he needs to protect his ranking so he can get a better draw and to do that he needs to play, however his knees are playing up, he is being tested today as its a different type of pain he is suffering. Doesnt sound too good. The hard surfaces are worse for his condidtion, not sure he will make it with the competition now going to the surface which favours the others more, and have no injuries.

Casper10666; do you know what Nadal's knee injury is? I suspect that if it is not serious he will play a few tournies (Wimbledon?) on hard courts leading up to USO. It is always a precarious situation with an injury and deciphering if one should continue playing (esp. at the same level) or stave off for some time to recover, which because of his age shouldn't take long.

i think Nadal was unlucky to have met an out of the world Soderling, BUT i know NAd has beaten fed many times. But do you know why? It's called game type. Because Nadal has a powerful top spin LEFT HANDED FOREHAND, it falls to Fed's Single back hand. This makes it very difficult for a single back hander to deal with the high bounce of the top spin which is fueled by huge biceps.

Soderling even said that he can figure out Nad's game but not Roger's game. So, its not always about who beats who.
