@MrHowiess As in when the game was stilll in beta, it's use was removed because it was so powerfull but kept in-game as an ornament. That's why the trader and other NPC's make comments about them.

The Angel Statue USED to be the most powerful weapon in the game. That's been changed now so it no longer does anything and never will.

@MrHowiess It wasnt called angel statue back then, its used to be a gun that did 54 damage and only the game developers were able to use them but then someone found the item in the terraria files and you could get it with a inventory editor but they have removed them and changed the into angel statue's.

something I figured out. went into a dungeon without killing skeletron with an angel statue in my inventory. skeletron's head flew at me and destroyed the angel statue without harming me, but then doubled back and killed me. hoarders of angel statues may find this useful as you can get by skeletron if you have at least 25 angel statues with you, as skeletron will only try 25 times to kill you before leaving (or perhaps it was 25 because i went far enough down? not sure) try it yourself, it works

I have a little theory, the angel statue is a bit rare to get, so most players expect it to do something amazing or weird. The 'it doesnt do anything' description is just to drive us crazy [not like MOOOUUUFFEEENHS, but they still do a bit], the human brain can't imagine about something not doing something because it's just not logical, our 'superior' mind isn't able to think about something as easy as that: we are stupid :P
