Edit: Use more than 6 sounds combined. I use like the threshhold on, the metal zone, a sick chorus, some reverb, delay and a tight sound..can even throw in a wah.. sounds badass. try it. You just gotta KNOW how to use it and set a good tone.

My friend has one of these, their pretty cool and very quite, It is pretty powerful sounding, but very digital, which Im not sure if I like. And you cants combine any of the modulation effects together..

Ello! I am possibly going to buy one of these and am unsure if it has a good enough metal sound for my taste. I'm tempted to buy just for all the effect combination available but I also have a Heavy Metal Pedal that I use for my metal tones. Would it work if I had the Boss ME-50 connected in the circuit with my Heavy Metal Pedal for the distortion sound, or will this reduce clarity/performance etc? ;) cheeeeers
I used to have one. I didnt like it. Some features are good. The delay for example is pretty good but the distortions all suck. If you want a boss multi effect better go for one of the GT's, its better worth your money. Or go for stompboxes.
The distortion on this thing isn't that impressive. I recommend going with a natural tone from your amp for that. The effects, such as wah, whammy, delays, chorus, etc. are rather useful, however.

@SaJAn061 Thats because the guy playing on the vid has it on memory mode. On memory mode you can save your effects combinations. For example, you can save metal and tremolo and some tap delay... It would be crazy but, yes, you can use 3, dont get confused by the vid;) I have mine on sale, so if anyone is interested here ii amm

If you want the Led Zeppelin Achilles Last Stand tone, set the distortion to Heavy Metal. Turn the gain to 12 oclock, the bottom to 3 o'clock and the tone knob full blast. Compressor off. Noise Suppressor to 10 o'clock. I used a little room reverb too.
It just NAILS it!
I think it's kinda funny that the Heavy Metal setting gets Jimmy Page. Talk about Old School!
you pick a string with the volume down, and then slowly release it. You won't hear the 'picking sound' and it will sound like a violin:) but i'm sure he used other effects in that part but I don't know what.
@megamajenta2000 , It can't do more than a couple seconds. You need to buy a looper if you want more than 2 seconds of looping...... or ......get out of your house and find some friends to play with.
Put it this way! you want a tubescreamer sound you buy a REAL tubescreamer!!! I have one and ive compared it to several multi effect units! they sound like shit compared to it!! even the Line 6 range!! they are so full of BS when they make out you have this and that pedal built in!! look guys!! a good guitar and good amp gets you the best tone!! and I mean a class a valve amp! none of that spider amp crap!! good basic amp that gives u great cleans and overdrive when cranked with no flashy lights
@Fender1976uk , you are correct in that the Boss ME-50 is not a substitute for a good amp and guitar. I use a 2001 American Standard Stratocaster with Dimarzio HS-3 pick ups into the Boss ME-50 and into two 1970's Fender Class A Champ amplifiers. This simple and relatively inexpensive set up (just under $2000) is extremely versatile and has just one gorgeous tone after another. It nails Van Halen, Police, Smashing Pumpkins, Hendrix, Tool, SRV, ZZ Top and more. I'll take to a recording session.

If you want "real" sound, get a really good basic amp from the factory you prefer (Pavey, Marshall, Fender, whatever), and get stomp boxes that you like instead of multi-effect boxes. Personally I prefer multi-effect boxes because it's easier and cheaper than buying 30 stomp boxes, and it's more versatile than having one overdrive, one chorus and one delay. But it is true that the emulated sound from multi-effect boxes isn't as good as the original. But it's close enough.
@Fender1976uk I agree to a point, but there is nothing wrong in getting a multieffect unit if you are really into experimentation with sound and effects, if you are playing or making music with tons of different guitar sounds. Of course, the analogue stuff is better, but this is a cheaper option to buying 15 different stomp boxes.
This effects unit gets the van Halen and Yngwie tones. But you'll never guess how. I've been using mine everyday for years when I finally stumbled onto this.
ok, for van Halen I, comp sustain 9 oclock, comp level 12 oclock, NS threshold 2 oclock, hall reverb- alot!, distortion-loud (variation light must be on) drive 12o'clock bottom 12 oclock tone 2 oclock, delay 400-1200, time 12 oclock, feedback off, e.level 1 oclock.
I use two 1970's Fender Champs for stereo, turn on the phaser for Eruption (you set as you like). Now, ever guitar and amp is different (so are his songs) ,I'm always tweaking knobs a little so this should get you in the ballpark.
That was not so tricky but Malmsteen is. Start with same setting as above but now turn both comp knobs full blast. Dist drive- off! bottom 2 oclock, tone 3 oclock and turn the level up from 12 to 3 oclock. Here's the trick; pluck a string and turn the drive knob up until you hear it click up once and then one more click! So, two clicks from off. Notice the phase cancellation on the lower register notes and how the high notes up the neck scream out. (neck pick up of course). Very Yngwie!
Wow! I just cranked the Noise Suppressor all the way up. I then cut the distortion bottom back to 12 oclock and then turned the distortion drive up to 9 oclock (still not much,eh?). Try playing Beautiful Girls by van Halen.
man i don't know what to do...i've heard this pedal from my teacher and it has a real nice analog sound but...i don't know if its better to buy a ME 70 that has some real nice features but i don't know if the sound would be as analog as this ME 50 someone help!
I would get a 2nd-hand ME-50 or a GT3....I would find one that has been taken care-of and buy that. The ME-70 just has some extra stuff added that you would probably not use, I have a gt-8 and I think I have wasted a lot of money on stuff I would never use like the amp modeling (I always run it through my tube amp so I switch amp modeling off 'cause it makes it sound like plastic with the digital "hissing"). ME-50 has only the usefull stuff and nothing more. Good luck on choosing :)

well maybe you could channel your hyper moments into something more constructive :)..but i would appreciate any helpful tips on how to restore the pedal back to factory settings
any one knows. My pedal on the ME50 is getting way to sensitive. Just when the pedal just touches the bottom it sets of the effect. I want it so that i have to press a little harder to engage it.
I didn't mean the newest but it has a lot of new features like it has compression, a looper, a whammy pedal and it has no latency in patch changing which is a problem in the 50. BTW did you get a floor pod plus? Why did you find it better? Please let me know because I am planning to buy one of them.
Hey man, i got the POD XT with the FBV Express cos i think its more versatile. Its really good if you planning on going live id get like a POD XT Live or X3 Live or something like that., theyre all stuff that go on the floor with pedals on it like the me50.
Same thing I'm choosing between, but it looks like this is way easier to use and has more to utilize. However, I've never been disappointed by a Line 6 amp, and I'm a bassist! I'm choosing more specifically between the Line 6 Floor Pod Live XT and this multi-effects pedal (but the bass version :P)
the me-50 is one of the best things i've ever bought, I don't know why people say its too digital or the wah-wah sucks. i found its better than most other multi fx pedals and its easy to get wicked tone if you know what you're doing.
DONT BUY IT! it sucks. its too digital and unesaisary.Recomend u to buy mt-2 or ds-1,ge-7(must) and digitech reverb.Together they cost 260 - the same money..

I didn't mean the newest but it has a lot of new features like it has compression, a looper, a whammy pedal and it has no latency in patch changing which is a problem in the 50. BTW did you get a floor pod plus? Why did you find it better? Please let me know because I am planning to buy one of them.

Hey man, i got the POD XT with the FBV Express cos i think its more versatile. Its really good if you planning on going live id get like a POD XT Live or X3 Live or something like that., theyre all stuff that go on the floor with pedals on it like the me50.

Same thing I'm choosing between, but it looks like this is way easier to use and has more to utilize. However, I've never been disappointed by a Line 6 amp, and I'm a bassist! I'm choosing more specifically between the Line 6 Floor Pod Live XT and this multi-effects pedal (but the bass version :P)

my me-50 gives a lot of extra unwanted noise in the overdrive setting even when i put up the threshold to max....Any idea how to fix this?

The amp i got now is the worst one could imagine. Its so bad, it wont let you tap:-(

the me-50 is one of the best things i've ever bought, I don't know why people say its too digital or the wah-wah sucks. i found its better than most other multi fx pedals and its easy to get wicked tone if you know what you're doing.
