@thisisroald Haha nice man too bad the guitar was refered to as a poor mans instrument back in this songs time period. The lute was the instrument of choice and guitars were typically owned by the "commoners" basically. The guitar became the instrument of choice when there started to be a need to have louder instruments and the guitar was louder due to the bridge being placed more in a centered position on the top than at the very end of the top like the lute. A little history for you.

@shoutingback09 Its because composers that didn't play guitar, couldn't write good guitar music. Beethoven wrote music for guitar and lute, but it wasnt amazing. Tarrega and Albeniz are well known composers for classical guitar music.

@Igneous01 From a historical standpoint the lute was the instrument of choice between the two back in the day. The lute was made with no saddle and the braces were perpendicular similar to a balalaika top and steel string back brace pattern and since the bridge was further back on the top it wasn't able to transfer vibrations as well as a guitar. The guitar was louder because of longitudinal bracing, a saddle and a better placed bridge. Message me and we can discuss this more.
