  • @pateretfilius You must be aware of the books 'Jesus was Caesar' and 'The Comet of 44BCE'? Good, spread the word.... There was never a Jesus. Sorry people, you have given your 10% to a bunch of lying decieving priests, pastors.

  • Yes, it was a very interesting time. Specially the time of Augustus. I feel the roman spirit is still alive the iron is still there. Imagine Augustus was Imperator when the King of Kings Jesus was born. What a magnificant time that was to be alive when the messiah was born into this world, god itself became flesh.

  • This is so cool.... what a fascinating time and culture. I would love to see Rome as it was in the days of Caesar and Augustus.

and this gets so tiresome.... all this yak, yak, yak about Jesus. Some of us really don't care. This is about Augustus.... give it a rest for awhile.

  • İ like this İ"d like to see this place

  • Actually no you see we have physical evidence of these great people throughout history, I.E. statues, likenesses on coins, written documents first hand from people who lived during these peoples times. So far there is absolutely no evidence of Jesus existing. And plenty of evidence to suggest Jesus is an artificial construct, a combination of earlier pagan gods such as Mithras. Clearly facts mean nothing to the ignorant faithful masses of the world.

  • @ozvulcan Dude man does not live on bread alone but from the word of God. O' ye of little faith. WIth out faith there's no hope. Without hope there's no care. With care theres chaos. The bible that gives the stories of christ are by all means real. In manifest. Mirely by the fact that it speaks common scense about how to live lifes better. It wasn't mad to punish people. And it doesn't controdict itself. Before you bash him. Try actualy reading the bible. Jahova is real. Christ is real friend.

  • ive been to Rome but i missed this. damn!

  • Being a ancient history nerd i feel no shame proclaiming that this IS SO COOL XD. I really need to visit Rome

  • That is some very good painting . I like the vase painting, it looks like it was painted recently and i like the details..

  • I MUST VISIT ROME !

  • pay 60 dolars? I hope it will be use in preservation of the ruins, not to pay berlusconi's hollidays.

  • Roman history is so rich!

  • Going to Rome on Friday and I'm looking forward to seeing the house of Augustus again. Saw it on opening day march 2008. Great video.

  • I MUST INFORM YOU THAT I AM A CAESARIAN AND THAT I DISLIKE THE CHRISTIAN CROSS WHICH IS A Voodoo DOLL a mystical wicked

practice committed by Christians upon the divine son of god and saviour of peace a sacrilege a profanation the father Julius Caesar the son Augustus Caesar. The Voodoo doll is used to represent the spirit of a specific person

  • Your Augustus is dead you pagan Philistine!

  • @formerthings And you're Jesus never existed in the first place.

  • @ozvulcan And if you believe that, then never did Ceasar, Livy, Herodutus, Pericles, Euripides, Josephus...in otherwords, for anyone to be stupid and ignorant enough not to believe in the existence of the most influental person that ever existed, has to deny all other famous persons of history who have far far far less written about them from their times...of course, for the narrow minded ignorant secularist, facts mean little!

  • AVA nomen pater et filius spiritus the true son of god, hail the name of the father julius caesar unto the son augustus caesar

  • In 14 BC halleys comet The earliest known mention of the comet in Europe occurs at the death of Augusutus Caesar which is where you get the Son of God acending upon the throne of the Gods or the firey chariot of jove, why because his age is the same return as the comet 76 years born 63 work it out, then perverted by the cruz worshipers , "The star called comet hung for several days over the city and was finally dissolved in flashes resembling torches."

  • ye prase be to da godfather julius caesar unto da son augustus ie the true son of god and saviour of peace and venus mother of god venus BC,AD means Before Caesar Augustus Decssus.

  • Great. Thanks for posting this. I didn't see it when it was televised. Fpr those wanting to go, the House of Augustus was only opened on Fridays (as of summer 2009). So, if you want to see House of the Griffins (open on Tuesdays only) or the House of Livia, wife of Augustus (opened on Tuesdays only), you'll have to plan to visit on two separate days. {Plan your trip to Rome accordingly! I found it out the hard way :-( cheers. jd

  • Ave Ceasar!! SPQR!

  • AVE CAESAR!

  • Hail Caesar!

  • Hail Caesar!

  • gameblor what you said about augustus i totally agree with you

  • Hail Caesar!

  • Still nice.

  • How nice to see the old homestead again.

  • Still have the keys?

  • As a matter of fact, I do.

  • Augustus Caesar. More than 2000 years later and the world has still not seen a better leader. The Pax Romana was his great legacy!

  • what about napoleon? came close

  • Napoleon was a great and intriguing historical figure too. Flawed in many ways but oh so ambitious. Some historians consider him a dictator and compare him to Hitler. Others paint a nobler portrait. I think both.

  • @gameblor

You've got it. With Bonaparte and Augustus.

  • Fantastic!So elegant and restrained/refine !

Gorgeous colors..I wonder whether they used exactly the same pigments ...as this "red" looks exactly like the famous " Pompeian Red".

  • Went there last weekend. It is really beautiful to see it 'live'. Very special to feel this great emperor lived in this modest house.

  • I went and saw this in person in March when it opened... it was well worth the weight. Thanks for the video.

  • wow I can't believe I wrote weight instead of wait.

    Damn pinot grigio....

  • Precisely, modest but still a palace. similar to wealthy urban palaces that you see in pompeii. Compare what Octavian built with Domitians domus flavianum or domus augustanum right next door and I think you will agree that in comparison Augustus lived modestly.

  • Short but interesting! Suetonius says that Augustus Caesar lived in a modest palace. Perhaps the ancient definition of'modest', differs from ours? It's terrific to see the place where he once lived.
