  • awesome!

  • Awesome! Captures the roller coaster of emotions invoked by ultras. Inspirational. And a Fab support team.

  • I'm so glad this has had so many views and comments, just wanted to let you know how moving both videos are. Strong man, strong. So many other videos are just the elites who all of us runners admire, but know we'll never truly be like. Watching you do this was far more inspirational to me than those other videos.

  • Super inspiring, dude. Mega props to you~!

  • I have been very fortunate to be a part of and witness many national/international athletic events and never have I been more impressed or inspired by than what I just saw. Every endurance athlete at all levels has to conqueror the mental side/self doubt and those that do are the true athletes.

  • I cried with you! Awesome and what a great team you have there. God Bless.

  • That was awesome...!! (you and your crew)

  • wow that was one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen thank you namaste my brother

  • Also, I'll be running in the 2012 Burning River 100. :-)

  • A number of folks responding to this video remarked that jim is just "walking the race". Please refer to 'Believe- An ultra running movie... part 1'-- this is part 2. I might be mistaken, but I'm fairly certain that Jim is running in every shot. I hear frequently when discussing ultras with people who haven't raced more than 10k or a half marathon, "why would you stop?" or "what's the point in doing it if you can't run the whole thing?" Clearly your inexperience/ignorance speak volumes. Go Jim!

  • Well done !

  • thanks, but running an average of 100 miles a week is SOOOOOOO much easier than knocking it out at once lol. when did you start long distance running?

  • @castroiscool Me? I've been running long distances 10 miles or more for about 6 years with my first being a 10 mile race. Then I ran my first marathon the next year. This past year I've gotten into trail running and running longer on trails than on the roads is a little easier on the body I feel. I'm going to maybe do my first 50K next year to get ready for pacing someone. I would think running 100 miles a week is easier than in one day. I agree with you.

  • I want to go run some more at least 100 miles a week, but my shoes have fallen apart from training in the country so much. I NEED NEW SHOES! help me!

  • @castroiscool I myself have never run 100 miles. But after seeing some friends run Mohican 100 in June of 2010 and seeing this video has me really thinking about it. I run on average of 40 miles a week. I'm was elaborating on what I've seen in the race but not having experienced it---yet. I think if you can run 100 miles a week you should be good. Although Jim the runner in this video may help you better than I can. Good luck to you!

  • Volunteering and watching a 100 mile race is truly an inspiring thing especially after all the agony they went through to finish. Sometimes the pain can get so intense that a few tears of pain are shed. Yet if that's what it takes to help finish without giving up then its well worth it! The theme to this can be "Its only going to get worse before it gets better." Yet the joy felt at the end outweighs the pain felt throughout the whole race! I'll be pacing at Burning River 2012! Great video!

  • @926NZ I got respect for that. how many miles do you put in a week for training on average.

  • Awesome to watch a grown man cry.

  • 6:55 LMFAO ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED

  • Great job man! I'm gonna work up to doing one some day too!

  • was your wife with you the whole time?

  • Thank You for Sharing this with us.... I was having doubts about running 56 miles in March, after seeing this I have no excuses.. your an absolute inspiration :)

  • Awesome mate!!! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!

  • Dude, way to go !!!!! Way to go after it !!!! It's yours forever.

  • is this a walking race?

  • @thealkimista2012 seems like it.. or they're just beat to hell and can't run at all.. barely walk even

  • @williamo1980

what i am trying to say is that this is about running, pushing yourself to

the limit and this guy is only walking and all this ppl treat him like

a lttle kid,i mean run! ..or im just not uset to be babysit...

    and he just keep complaining....

  • @thealkimista2012 You're absolutely right. I was under trained, and underestimated what it took to finish a 100 mile race. We did however, feel that it was an inspirational story of a man who did the best he could, and that maybe, others would be inspired to try as well!! I would love to try another one. Would you care to join me?

  • @cptviggi

yeah, and i am sorry i just didnt see it in that way at first....

  • @thealkimista2012 being treated like a kid is not fun and I never saw him running once (i think), but for someone of his size that would sure be rough on the body - to run. hopefully he'll keep training and run most of one next time ;)

  • Thank you for sharing. I can't tell you how much you have inspired me to keep running. I cried with you in the end.

  • running is not how fat one is, or thin.

    its all heart.

  • this guy looks fat. amazing that a fat guy runs so far.

You deserve to be VERY proud of yourself :)

Someday i hope I can do the same thing.

  • James well done! Loved these! . I smiled a lot watching this, brought back so many good memories. Those steps at the end, I agree "I dont like them" either.......... What an amazing day, so many good memories made. People were fantastic. My hubby crewed for me and I too couldnt have done it without his amazing help and my pacers were fantastic. We did the 100 but they made it doable. Take care and all the best for your next big adventure.

  • hi, wife and narrator here. have gotten some questions about why i was calling out "20 seconds... 10 seconds.." at the end of the video. he was not that close to the cutoff... but 4 miles earlier i had conjectured he could reach the finish line in 28:50 if he kept up his pace. so in the last few miles i was telling him how much longer he had left to run, i was hoping the time goal would help him. when the race clock came into view it said 28:49:40, so i was shouting for him to make it!

  • This is so inspiring! It made me cry! Congratulations. :)

  • Jimmy V... you amaze me. I am so proud of you! ALMOST the most proud I've ever been. Definitely top 3 moments... getting married, staying married, doing 100 miles. There is nothing you can't do if God is in it and you set your mind to it. So proud bro. Love you so much! Jason

  • Great documentary of that day and your jounery! I shared some time on the trail with you at the BR100 this year and I specifically remembered that "Mountain Moving Faith" shirt and recall how that stuck with me all day. Awesome job.

  • Totally amazing stuff!
