When it comes to the beauty of film, he is as great as anyone before him or since -I think only David Fincher has the imagination that Mallick has. Days of Heaven is my favorite - the soundtrack is also amazing.
Where is "The New World"? Great montage regardless. I would rank "The Thin Red Line" amongst my most favorite films ever. Had to watch it on t.v. last night and it still has me in tears after all these years. So excited for Tree of Life!!!
Last night I watched Badlands for the first time. I remembered that it was one of Malick's first movies and it didn't disappoint, as I truly appreciate the cinematography and angles he uses. Same with The Thin Red Line, however TTRL which I have seen countless times and still never get tired of is my all time favorite. Always dumbfounded when asked what movies I've seen lately or what my favorite movie is and when I name TTRL I get a blank look! Nice to know others here appreciate him!
Hey, does anyone know which scenes in Days of Heaven were shot by Haskell Wexler? I know that Nestor Almendros shot almost all of it, but I guess he had to go before all the footage was in.
Badlands is so amazing. so well shot that you feel awkward, as everything seems so intense and yet so plainly done. its true subtlety is key at times, that mixed with the amazing cinematography of the film. HAIL MALLICK
Beautiful. I love it. I'm working on my own tribute to malick, and it was interesting to see that you chose some of the same sequences, shots, and music.
Excellent video. I loved it, thought you perfectly captured the essence of each of his films. You should edit "The New World" on the end there. Fantastic!
Thanks so much for those kind words. It really means alot! I've got a few other montages that I want to do before possibly returning to Malick. May be by then he'll have released another movie to draw inspiration from.
Can anyone name the song used during the end "The Thin Red Line" segment. Thanks.

Awesome - Terrence Malick is the best - the music from The Thin Red Line goes really well with the shots from Days of Heaven too.

Are you talking about the Badlands footage. That's "Love is Strange" by Mickey and Sylvia. If you have Myspace, you'll find the song there.

Kudos! Seamless transitions, very well planned and executed. A section on The New World would fit very nicely at the end.
