  • LOVE that CBS opening music! 1980's! Best decade for the NBA EVER. Can't even be debated. (Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dr J, George Gervin, Kareem, Olojuwan.....where do I stop? and the all star games were fun and better - thanks to Magic and Isiah who ran the fast breaks and pushed the pace. They were the kings of "fun ball"

  • looking all all these great players at young ages lmao makes me laugh

  • hmmmmm that 84' draft must have been deep got keem and mj in all star game as rookies

  • type "short guy dunks" in the youtube search box to see a 5'5 guy dunking a 10ft hoop

  • jordan fans alway suck up to jordan and never say anything bad about him jordan fans are sooo bad, i feel sorry he has such fans talk about him getting beat 3 years in a row by pistons . talk about him when he was on the wizerds or how he was not good till larry bird and magic were old

  • @godfatherhat Jordan wasn't good until Bird and Magic were old? This is an All-Star Game Video. Rookie Starter....!!!

  • @skeetajohnson MJ had no rings till the celtic laker teams were done, and dont talk about the 91 finals because kaream was gone, cooper was gone, macado was gone, and it took jordan 7 years to win a championship. it took bird and magic 2 years MAGIC one!!

  • @godfatherhat you dumbfuck. Magic came onto a team with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, maybe the greatest Center of ALL TIME. Bird was fortunate that he came to a franchise with such a great legacy and had Red Auerbach. He got to play with Parish and McHale his whole career, both of whom were hall of famers. To say that MJ's accomplishments are diminished because he won after these teams had aged is just shortsighted. He won when the team around him was capable just like all the other greats.

  • @tigerwoods232000 excuses orlando aldrige, cherals oakly, he had horce grant and pippen for 3 years since 87 but he kept getting his ass handed to him by the pistons untill age caught up with pistons. jordan was not always the best he had to wait 7 8 years

  • @godfatherhat i can understand when some people rate Bird or Magic higher than MJ, though I don't agree with that at all, I see why some may say that. But to say that Jordan was not "good till larry bird and magic were old" is IDIOTIC. You do realize that Jordan played Magic in the finals right?? Magic was 31 in those finals, he was not OLD. Secondly, you know that Bird has said that Jordan was always ready to win, his team wasn't. Yes he said that, I know it's hard to believe for you.

  • @godfatherhat finally, clearly you do not know enough about what you speak. Orlando WOOLRIDGE and CHARLES OAKLEY were not in the class of McHale, Parish, Abdul-Jabaar, Wilkes, D. Johnson, Cooper etc etc. Woolridge had drug problems and Oakley was traded for Cartwright so they had a legit center. With regards to Pippen and Grant, You expect them to walk into the league and be all stars!!!!???? Not everyone is like MJ. Once they matured and followed Jackson's gameplan, then they won titles.

  • @tigerwoods232000 clearly u just a tipical jordan fan and think hes a god , and jordan had gambling problems and he still won rings, dennis rodman had madddd issues and they still won rignt and woldrige was getting 19 a game. theres no way jordan could beat bosten or LA too good. bird and magic won it the first two years in the leauge

  • @godfatherhat you're making no sense man. You just ignored everything I said. What do Jordan's gambling problems have to do with this? LOL. What does Dennis Rodman's issues have to do with this? If anything, the fact that Jordan won in spite of these things is something favorable for him. Are you really trying to say that Orlando Woolridge was enough help for MJ!!!! LOL. I agree, MJ couldn't beat the 85 lakers, 86 celts etc because his team was bad! Like I said, Bird and Magic had huge help!!!

  • @tigerwoods232000 Are you saying Jordan had no help then? Keep in mind, Jackson, Rodman, and Pippen are all HOFs, and BJ Armstrong, Kukoc, and Grant were all-stars. I still think Larry Bird and Magic were better than Jordan.

  • @thenintendogamer who the fuck are you getting in on this conversation? These players weren't all star caliber players till the 90's. MJ didn't have this kind of support early in his career, hence needing to score 37, 35 ppg. Oh by the way, he won Defensive Player of the Year while doing all of this on offense. If you truly appreciate the game, it's just not possible in my opinion to put Bird or Magic over MJ because Jordan could take over the game on both ends.

  • @tigerwoods232000 It is a comments section, so it doesn't fucking matter that I join the conversation. It doesn't matter that he was the only all star there. Bird turned around a pitiful 1979 Celtics team and made it a playoff contender in his first year, and Magic won the Finals MVP in his first year.

  • @thenintendogamer Jordan took one of the worst teams in the NBA and put them in the playoffs his first year. If you think that Bird or Magic could have been a title contender with that roster he had, then you are delusional. The 84-85 Bulls had great physical talent according to MJ but they were mentally weak and a lot of those players would go on to have drug problems.

  • @tigerwoods232000 well the pistons also stopped him 3 years in a row before 91... my point is off court problems should be irrealven wolwege drug issue, my point is that jordan was not unstoppable he was stopped plenty of times the only unstoppable , closest is bill russel because he won 11 championships in 13 seasons so thats that

  • @godfatherhat now your point is that Jordan was not unstoppable? Who was arguing that? I thought you were saying Larry and Magic were better than MJ. What are you bringing up Bill Russell for? He played in a different era, in a much smaller league and shorter playoffs. Comparing his championships to players in the modern era (Which I'll say is after the NBA-ABA merger) as a way of saying he was closest to "unstoppable" is not very logical and reflects poorly on your knowledge of NBA history.

  • tigerwoods, that dont matter, perhaps magic and larry were better because there were 5 less teams in the nba and had more talent per team, compared to MJ having the roster streched , but i still thin magic johnson is better , it took mj 8 years and took magic one year, and if there was no larry bird magic would of wont 8 9 championships . magic johnson can play every position on the court, averaged 11 assists and 21 points. no way jordan 90s beat lakers 80s

  • in the introduction...you can read isiah thomas lips..he told the white dude who touched his face.."dude i dont know you like that" DONT EVER DO THAT AGAIN DOG"..all while still keeping a smile on his face for the camera..gotta love it

  • What's with the dick in the suit pushing the players off as they get up? They're not effing babies!!!

  • that's what we can call an ALL STAR GAME !!!

  • The East have an incredible squad, There 6th man is the NBA scoring leader.

Imagine that. Always wanted to play like #11

  • the game could be in indiana back than...now it has to be in la or vegas..

  • Damn Bird is the only white starting this game.

  • @natedaug1 Larry Bird's not white... he's Clear. Lol.

  • Best All Star Game line ups... maybe ever?

  • siiiiiiiiick Magic pass @ 8.14

  • Thank you for this. It brings back some great memories.

  • youtube has so much history.....where else can u get the all star game with Magic and Jordan, Bird, And Dr J Julias Erving for free then here?????.......

  • sick yo #VIDEOPOSTERID# this is so excellent if you want to start dunking you have to see this today - 50inch vertical[dot]com

tell me if you're interested #VIDEOPOSTERID#

  • @johnnylogan60 lol, FAIL!

  • this is the game when jordan was freeze out, jealous kids they all

  • Thanks for posting some great videos. My opinion on the so-called "freeze-out" after watching these videos is that it didn't happen.Being a rookie you're not going to get a lot of touches and looks especially with that 85 All-Star team. Lebron scored 13,and D-Wade scored 14 in their first All-Star game. Were they "froze-out"? The flow of the game is the final judge.

  • All great in my book !

  • This is back when the NBA All Star Game meant something.

  • The best all star game ever!

  • do u guys kno people in this game were trying to fix MJ?cuz MJ was too good.

    i heard those from news.

  • larry bird is the man! he got all the fans

  • woo.....LEGENDARY ALL STAR!!!!

  • thats like 6 of the best who ever played in one game. YIKES.

  • from 9:39: "Look at those shoes MJ wears, has gotten a lot of attention around the league" LOL! You got it! AJ I OG

  • This is the first all star game i watched on TV. I really liked ralph sampson while he was matching with olajuwon the twin towers era. Even now at days there is not a power forward with his height and hability playing like he did. Anyway i think he wasn`t 7'4. i think He was 7'2

  • Sampson throw out his career to the w.c. in the most incredible way. I saw him in person years later when he was playing in Spain for a few time, horrible. A big big pitty, so big talent to the rubbish after some very good years.

  • thank u 4 upoading it

  • im bought to watch this whole thing. i never saw this. aw man. this is vintage.

  • this awesome .............HAIL MICHALUS. 100 stars dude.

  • did the pacers play in the hoosierdome then?

  • No , I think in the 1980's if there was a chance to play in a bigger facility to get more people to watch a game , they did. For example this game (HOOSIER DOME), 1987 All Star Game (Kingdome , I know the SuperSonics played there, but no at that time) , and the 1989 All Star Game (Astrodome)

  • you gotta love the warmups, they don't make em like that anymore

  • norm nixon got ran out of the Lakers cus it wasn't big enough for both norm and magic...I wonder what would have happened if magic had gotten traded instead of nixon...anyhow, classic all-star game...YEAH!

  • What happened in LA with Nixon amd Magic was the Lakers didn't know what they had with Magic. The Lakers thought he was a good ball handler but when they saw he could play point guard at a high level they had to keep him at point. I was a huge Nixon fan and I loved the combo of him and Johnson.

  • Thumper Newman was the best I ever saw

  • this is the best lineup ever for the east or west . bird, jordan,dr.j,isia, and moses

  • you are right..that is just nasty the talent there..

  • Bill laimbeer is out there...open your eyes buddy..and what's difference does it make...they are all great players out there!

  • Bird such a gamer, I love it, only white guy on the court :)

  • This is the famous "freeze-out" game. I'm glad this was posted because the truth is if you look at the game, nobody froze out Jordan from anything. It was a game where they let Jordan do his thing and they wanted to get Bird the most shots because they were in Indiana. Isiah would've won MVP had he not been hurt and the East would've won because he had the best game up until the mid 3rd quarter.

  • @3DStoneCt Yes, there really was not a freeze out.

  • Jordan was such a ball whog in the 88 All Star game. Bird only had 6 points

  • that wasn't a story couse everybody knew that He wants MVP and it was his year..the legends undestand and respect new super star...

..for me it was more like..''ok,they say U are the best now..so,take a ball and prove it''.

  • @michalus Why didn't Kareem get that he was never MVP... Never in his 20 all stars game from 1970 to 1989.. That is amazing when people think about it..

  • @michalus ok I know ur post is 3yrs old here lol but u r right. All star game MVP' r a group effort. No coincidence Tom Chambers wins in 87 (in Seatle) and Jordan in 88 (in Chicago), Stockton - Malone in Utah. The guys want the local star to win the MVP. Makes the fans happpy. In the 80's if Isiah or Magic wanted u to win the MVP....u did. U got layups and dunks thanks to them. :)

  • @adheckle

Bird and other players stated that they were looking to go to Jordan because they were playing in Chicago and wanted him to get the MVP. The real ball hog was Dominique Wilkins, who NEVER understood the meaning of "team". Just watch the end of that '88 All Star game and you'll see the other guys passing to Jordan, but Nique kept wanting to dunk and was gunning himself.

  • Norm Nixon's first All-Pro apperance was '82 right?

  • This is where the alleged "freeze-out" on Jordan by Thomas happened.

  • According to Jordan. But if you actually watch all 10 youtube movies you'll see Jordan is mistaken. There's no freeze out. Jordan just shot poorly, and didn't justify the minutes to stay in the game and shoot more. He blamed Isiah, but clearly from this video, anybody can see there was no freeze out.

  • "According to Jordan"

No, according to fans and basketball critics alike. MJ even denounced the so-called "freeze-out" during John Stockton's Hall of Fame induction by Isiah.

  • WATCH the whole game! There is no freeze-out. In one play down the stretch Isiah even passes to Jordan twice within the same possession. That's not something you do if you're trying freeze somebody out. The fans & basketball critics you're referring to are delirious then. I've watched this whole game multiple times. MJ gets as many touches as Moses Malone in the first quarter. Was Moses was froze out too? Google "Playboy Michael Jordan" & you will see that MJ alleges he was froze out.

  • You're also not considering. MJ and isiah have patched things up before MJ played for Wizards... so now MJ has better clarity of things. Isiah & MJ were playing one-on-one & Isiah even came out and said if Jordan wanted to come back to NBA he would still be good. Why would these two guys be hanging out and playing together at any point? Because they had patched things up after Isiah's retirement. Now MJ clearly isn't so stilted about Zeke, if he said that at in a recent HOF speech.

  • What you're not considering is the fact that a) MJ looked at the game in retrospect b/c rumors were going around that Isiah froze him out, and b) the interview was done in the aftermath of the Pistons walking out on the Bulls the year before. Hence, MJ has good reason to suspect Isiah of having a vendetta against him. But it's all b/c of the media's coverage as well as the Pistons'. Now you can't say that this is "according to Jordan" b/c he already denounced it.

  • Say it anyway you want, but that's simply schematics... The fact is most people only associate Isiah's name in the freeze out and conveniently forget the other names; Magic, and Gervin. Isiah bore the brunt of the rumor & Jordan didn't denounce it at the time 25 years ago, when it was relevant. Media has always spun Isiah for the worst... ever since the Larry Bird comment Zeke never made. Similar situation there too, but I bet you wouldn't let Zeke off the hook for that. Schematics again.

  • Again, we go back to media coverage and the Pistons' actions. MJ didn't denounce it at the time b/c given the Pistons' reputation on and off the court, he had good reason to suspect Isiah of having a vendetta against him. Now, that's all over.

  • Yep, I agree with part of your statement. I agree the media can be absurdly cruel. However I don't think Pistons reputation, particularly at that time had anything to do with that All-star game. Pistons didn't get the "Bad Boy" title until 1988. And Mahorn didn't come to Detroit til 86' He was the grandfather of the "Bad Boy" image. He brought the "Bad" out. You see Bill Laimbeer in his 3rd All-star game here because the stigma/"rep" has not yet caught fire at this point in 85'.

  • True, but the interview you pointed out was greatly influenced by MJ's bitter rivalry against the Bad Boys as well as their reputation around the league. Again, he was looking at this game in retrospect of everything that happened between him and Isiah up to that point.

  • It didn't take 7 years for those rumors to start. You can go on believing MJ never played a part in feeding that rumor if you want. But I'd say in retrospect, MJ's rep has proved him to blast people throughout his career sometimes directly & sometimes with backhanded compliments. My point was just, MJ believed in the freeze out and I showed in black & white that he fed into & perpetuated it too. You're saying, I should consider the unspoken circumstances... well no one else does.

  • "It didn't take 7 years for those rumors to start"

Whoever said it did? The fact that the earliest interview you gave me was in 1992 proves that it was the media and the Pistons' bad reputation on and off the court that fed those rumors all those years. MJ believed in the freeze out in retrospect of those 7 years. Unspoken circumstances??? We're talking about facts here. The fact is, MJ already denounced those rumors. But guess what, the media still believes that the freeze out happened.

  • Like you said, ever since the Larry Bird comment (which he publicly admitted that he was joking about), the media has focused on Isiah and his teammates as the bad guys. If they just kept their big mouths shut off the court, then the media as well as other players wouldn't be so rash on judging their actions.

  • What did Bird say about Zeke?

  • WOW, the HOOSIER DOME when it was cool.

  • i´ve got this game on vhs but it´s image is very bad..

so i want to thank Michalus to make it possible and avaliable for us such an important game, specially when you see MJ in his first All Star.

    valeu Michalus!!!

  • WOW.
