I love this song, but when it first came out it was almost like a caricature of the James Brown sound, calling it 'Same Beat', something he was accused of using over and over by critics. This is actually a fantastic song, it's simplicity is what makes it outstanding. Nice mix bringing out that percussion instrument, whatever it is.
