hey, good instruction. Everything went fine but I'm getting a message when I click on 'sync ringtones' it says "Are you sure you want to sync ringtones? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “B Hanover’s iPhone” will be removed." I'm tempted to back up, sync and reload but thought you might have a better idea. It seems ridiculous to have go through that. thx
@bhanover8550 you have to make sure you're syncing your ringtone on the PC or Mac that you have all your backups and also all your movies, tv shows and music.
Plus I have just tested it with the most recent version of iTunes and it worked fine for me.
I suggest creating the ringtone and syncing to the PC or Mac that contains your backups and all your media
@smvlog I am syncing on my mac that has all the iPhone backups, movies and music. (don't have any TV). Very strange, I'm running latest iTunes, OSX Lion and ios 5, so everything is up to date. My backups have just started going to to iCloud. I've tried re-doing the process for the third time and everything goes well, just as you said, right up to the sync. Thanks anyways Shaun, I guess it's time to back the whole thing up and follow through with it. I want those custom ringtones!!
Ive made several ringtones on my itunes using this method and now it's not allowing me too...Is it because the updated version of Itunes is not allowing this action anymore or what could the problem be? Note, I am doing it the exact way as this and haven't changed anything
@aw100626 I've just checked and I've got the most recent version which is 10.4.1 and it still contains Ringtones. Make sure you go to iTunes -> Preferences, and click on General and make sure Ringtones is ticked.
Then follow the step by step video and it should work.
@smvlog Did everything and it's still not working, like i said i have over 50 rt's I've created already but since the update it's not letting me do any of the sort
I know I've done this before succesfully but now I can't get it to work. Basically I don't have any ringtones in my ringtones list in itunes to begin with and when I double click the m4r-file in finder it starts playing in itunes but the ringtones section remains totally empty anyway. Any suggestions?
What I suggest is to go on spotlight and try to find the ringtones. From the sounds of it they might have been deleted on your Mac. If you find the files try re-importing them into iTunes. And make sure the file format is m4r. So that they go inside Ringtones. If you still can't get it working let me know and I'll help you out until you got it working :)
@smvlog Got it working now - think I messed up some minor step like I didn't uncheck the start and stop boxes or something. Either way got it running smoothly now :)
and basicly you just have to.. and basicly you just have to.. and basicly you just have to.. and basicly you just have to..
