  • No problem.

  • Don't know why there was a rumour back then that these guys were a reincarnation of the Beatles. Sounds like them in a melodic way, but the songs are lower quality. ... so, how come the confusion????

  • @gazuaman

    Lower quality?

  • @Harmonlisa Yeah, you got a point. That was said in a sujective way. It wasn't my intention devalue klaatu work. Just an opinion...

  • It takes me back to the summer of 1980 when I worked (for free) in college radio at Penn State. I still have the duplicate album that came into the station. At the time, I marked the albums as they came in. I miss the exposure I had to so much different music.

  • I love their album covers, they're so gorgeous.

  • Some songs/groups just 'have it' or 'get it'. This is one. Love this ballad.

  • @s2g3m3

I love it too, but some parts of the melody are a direct rip off of Bread's "Everything I Own".

Give it a listen and you'll hear what I'm talking about.

  • @ManhattanMusician Don't hear it myself but I hear songs all the time that I can trace back to another song, real or imagined. I'm sure a lot of hit songs have been written by starting with another song and a bit of modification. As Burton Cummings sings in one of his songs, "For I.... Will play a rhapsody

Cleverly disguise it, so it's not been heard before"!

  • @burnabybrent

Well, "Everything I own" is in a different key than this song, so it's hard to catch it if you listen to both

    songs.....right after the other.

  • Very Jeff Lynne sounding...

  • Hello Sweet Joan...so glad you're home, just called to say godbye..

    Classic tune.

  • My favourite.....

  • I'm sure you meant to say 'peddle yourself'....

  • what's amazing is that it's such a great song that's on their contractual obligation album. they hated all the stuff on endangered species. never wanted it to be heard, but christopher bond (and captiol overall) forced it out of them... (leading to the legendary covert recording & sampling of "pedal yourself", which helped break the contract).

still a great song, but if it's merely great that only goes to show how astounding the good stuff is.

  • @razbitom If this was a contractual obligation album than this song defies the title! It's a should-have-been hit. It has classic written all over it. In fact, I'd say it's a flawless ballad! I can even detect a bit of country music in the song.

  • This was one of my fav songs of the 80s!

  • Such a great unknown band

  • Sounds like the Beatles. My goodness, it sounds amazingly close.

  • What a real gem. I always loved this song and I still do, 33 years later

  • This song was actually written about my mother. She was married to the lead singer of the band and they were high school sweethearts. It's one of my favourites

  • Wow, it's been ages since I've heard this song! I have the 45, but no turntable.

What a trip! Hard to believe that this song is 30 years old! Yike!

  • It's my favorite on the album "Endangered Species". I obtained it from college radio in early July 1980. I used to mark the albums, and check out the duplicates. I usually play the album around that time of year.

  • I love this song. It really captures the pain of having love go sour. "It's in the way you hold me, and in the lies you've told me. Everything I do, seems to annoy you and displease you. You never share your laughter, and in the morning after, you try to sweep me, under your rug. You don't have to say it--you're knee-deep in love, yes it's over and one for us, you and me."

  • Very very very underrated band from Canada. Well what else is new.....

  • I LOVE klattu! My dad got me hooked and now I'm addicted to their music!

  • Klaatu was such a great band. I've had this song in the back of my mind for years, so glad I finally found it!

  • a bit like everything i own by bread

  • thanks for this gem

  • As a teen, I always thought this was the Beatles. Of course it was Klaatu....missed this song. Thanks a ton for posting it.

  • The perfect "walk in the park after being dumped" song- beautiful!

  • ohhhhh this is NICE!!!

  • awesome Canadian tune. Remember it from a K-Tel album I had in the early 80's as a kid

  • I added this to a few mix CDs I made and play in my classroom in Houston between classes.

  • Feeling like a dinosaur knowing it might be a K-tel album...say it is not so....we are not THAT freakin old yet

  • Holy crap what a great find! I LOVED this song and this band. I had all their albums...wish I still did, only have 3:47 EST now, on disc and I have an unopened album.

  • What a great love song .. reminds me of when we couple rollerskated in the 70's

  • I've been looking for this forever! Great album . . . great group . . . great song!

Thanks! Did you put All Good Things Must End on too?

  • Awesome, thanks, this has always been my favorite Klaatu tune!
