did i said something about hard or easy? btw that thing REALLY IS in older games than some 2008 made games. for example in hitman, half life2 and for sure in many many other games. well i don't know is it 100% same thing but at least it's kinda pretty same
when those worlds collide, I see a lot more options then just guiding people through traffic jams. Said for all of us that our authorities are not so reliable.
Not attach them, per se, but make it so that they're not wandering aimlessly. Give them a place to go, and give several other people the same destination. Destinations can be randomized, along with look, and walking animation.
i think her voice gets the job done perfectly. what, you want some sexy whispering girl? that would completely distract your feeble brain from what the whole point of this channel is.
In real crowds you get pairs or groups walking together, a few push chairs and kids, a skater here and there. Not everyone in a crowd is moving either.
It is science. They're studying the realism of animated crowds in relation to real life crowds, then analyzing what factors make real life crowds "real" and how to apply them to the animated clones. It may not be bubbling chemicals or quantum physics but it's still experimentation in the pursuit of knowledge.
And why exactly does it have to be science? NewScientist's category is Science and Technology.
decent points. But science is not merely the pursuit of knowledge--else movie reviews could be called science. Science is the study of FUNDAMENTAL knowledge. Animation is a human creation, and studying that (explicitly) is not science.
Even with "real" crowds, to call it science would depend on WHAT you're studying about the crowds. Studying how to make animation look real is tech devlp, not science.
Yes and i agree but they are using legitimate science to help their animation technology look more realistic. Theyre looking at how the human body moves; how the muscles, tendons, ligaments, skeletal system, etc all effect movement; biology basically. Physiology, namely Human Physiology. Technology goes hand in hand with science animation is no different. Even in cartoons, there is science; such as Japanese anime. the artists learn about how the body moves in order to accurately depict movement.
The didn't claim to be studying kinesiology in the video; they claimed to be investigating which aspects of "cloned" animation would be noticed as clones. Again, that's just studying an aspect of animation.
Please keep in mind that I'm sure they're using the scientific METHOD in their work--as we all do, often.
Nor are they studying perception scientifically, they're looking at perception in a particular animation technique, in order to make the tech better--that's tech dev.
Well, if you want to talk just about what they mentioned in this one video, then there really isn't anything to talk about at all =) The newscientistvideo's channel is for science *and* technology videos, so don't know why you have any problem with it =P
OK. I'm just saying, if the name of your mag/org is "NewScientist" then I would think your stories should be about science. Many (or most) of their stories are. I think they probably fill in with some interesting tech stuff when they have to.
This is just the MOST techie I've really seen them go--and it's totally commercial tech, at that.
Technology is a product of Science. This could also be considered research on animal behavior patterns, How the brain commonly depicts direction, How the brain Recognizes people (Remember from the vid, we recognize people faster by body type). This is Science, what type of Science? Whatever field its results will benefit.
tech is the APPLICATION of science, and scientific knowledge, to solve practical and commercial problems.
Part of the reason I brought this subject up is that non-scientists tend to conflate science and technology--since the origin of technology is typically within science.
Not sure exactly what you mean. I can only say that I know what science is, because I'm a scientist. Science certainly does not deal with "anything" that's "organized knowledge."
If you think that then you don't have a clear understanding of what science is and isn't.
The first paragraph of the wikipedia entry under "science" gives a good definition of what science is, in the modern usage.
Science: increase human understanding of how the physical world works
Technology: increase human knowledge of tools, and how it affects a species ability to control and adapt to its environment. It is a consequence of science and engineering.
Technology is a branch of science, Kinda Like Genre's of Music.
The reverse of this technology can & will be exploited by Big Brother to help isolate & identify individuals in crowds caught on closed circuit cameras.

At the start of your comment you say tech is a PRODUCT of science, and at the end you say "this" IS science.
You're right at the beginning. Tech (and "this") are PRODUCTS of science--not science.
Others have said this category is "Science and Technology." If they're the same, then why have two different terms for them?

Um, "TECH" IS science... science is organized knowledge- which can be about ANYTHING.

that's a pretty stilted definition of technology (I see you quote from wikipedia).
For all it's fluff, it basically says it's tool-making. I can agree with that--which explains why it's NOT science.
