This piece by Grainger is an excellent combination of virtuosity and melody, perfectly excuted by the Great Maestro Hamelin. His crisp, humorous, very idiosyncratic style of playing never ceases to amaze me. Thank You. TBT.

If anyone asks why Marc André Hamelin is so appreciated, is invited to compare this performance with any other on Youtube (I listened to 4), and will have the answer.

MAH is flawless, humorous and seem to fully understand anything he plays, be it Scarlatti or Ligeti. I don't need to write about his technique.

Well, the whole piece may serve as just a reference to Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody 2, considering those 1:50 glissandos. And to me, it sounds a bit similar to Horowitz's Moment Exotique, too.
