I just love this battle and I'm not sure why. I think it's really good leading up to the celebi-raikou faceoff. This stretch, from 72-74 or even through those NU's maybe, is probably my 2nd favorite stretch of 3 battles, btw.

ok something i am serrriously not understanding at all and i have no idea wtf is up with this move, but the move grassknot does not make sense to me. he used grass knot on the snorlax with a celebi and the celebi had max sp atk and snorlax is the heaviest pokemon in the game, not to mention grass knot is also a STAB move, and yet it still didnt OHKO it, and i am still trying to figure out why, cuz right now i cant make sense of it

@bitchasswolfboy The weight of the poke just determines the base power of the Knot. Like any other attack, damage still varies between Attack and Defense values of the pokemon as well (in this case, special*)

Snorlax has loads of HP and Special Defense, so despite taking a very frightening grass knot, he can manage.

Celebi and Salamence have equal speed. Both base hundred. COuld have been a tie.

Besides, the whole Calm Mind thing, didn't do anything for your case. You ended up damaging the same to him, as if neither of you had done any CM's...

@Genetic19 Not necessarily. Having +6 and +6 on two pokes doesn't exactly cancel each other out. Sure he gets a Sp Def boost, but I had a Sp Atk boost, and my SpAtk stat being boosted is higher than his SpDef, so the more boosts we get, the larger that difference becomes as I amplify a higher base value.

@Invarus Each CM is a 50% boost. You're getting a boost on a bigger number. Like interest in the bank, the more you have the higher it builds.

Say one stat is 350, and one stat is 300. A 50 point difference. Put both at +1, +3, +6, doesn't matter---suddenly the difference is more than 50 points, advantage to the higher stat.

@mtgxerxes You're still just increasing both stats by some % though. If your attack would hit the enemy for, say, 100 normally and you increased your SpAtk by 100% you'd deal twice the damage for 200 total. If your opponent also increased his SpDef by 100%, he'd take half the damage from you, dropping it back to 100, even if you had 1000 SpA to start and he had 10 SpD.

@kaz3kag3gaara EQ is great on Noir since so many fire guys try to show up to evade the WoW. It used to be only Ice Punch and Shadow Sneak as his options, but people realized that EQ, Tpunch, and even Fire Punch all have uses.

Um...smogon...and pretty much everyone else. Smogon so far is like the ultimate guide for Pokemon. They test pretty much every pokemon and they give you the best of the best move sets and effort values. They go to the extreme, listing counters for every pokemon, and having every item and TM and nature displayed.

Smogon works together with a program called Shoddy battle. Shoddy is a Pokemon Battling simulator. Smogon uses Shoddy for testing pokemon to see if they are broken or not.
