@SkyNinja1 You can walk through the door on this chamber and chamber 19. The first portal looks like that because it is a demo replay/recording error. Portals are viewed oddly when a demo is replayed and fraps is recording.
@SkyNinja1 I can't explain it, but it happens quite often when recording with Fraps. If you see other videos of Portal, or other videos of mine, you'll see half-portals and other weird stuff that doesn't look right. I'll be re-recording the whole OoB speedrun using startmovie, so visual glitches like this won't be there.
@Transgenic86 Bad idea, man, trust me. I have done one video in portal, and I used startmovie for it. It corrupted the first few seconds of the video, the view was snapping like I had an aimbot, and if you put anything through the fizzler, nothing after that will record right.

I'm excited about this run. I'm glad that people still have the dedication to take games like this apart. I still remember my old video I posted about this chamber, where I comment that I'd be surprised if someone beat 6 seconds. Heh!
Just perfect. Very nice run man. Also, did you record this from a demo? 'Cause the first portal seems a bit screwed up. If so, do you use an autoexec.cfg for demo recording?
Yeah, it is from a demo. The actual reason that the first portal is screwed up is because of Fraps recording the demo. I do not use an autoexec.cfg, because I don't use any aliases or anything. I just bound a key to load, and I bound a key to record. I press record while it is loading, so it records as soon as it loads. Then, when the next map is loading, I press tilda (~) right after it loads, stop the recording, and save.
I will be recapturing the entire run using the startmovie command when it is done, and hosting it on pretty much any site I can. I will also be trying to get as much publicity as possible through internet news places for gamers, so please stick around for when that is done. I'm sorry, but this takes a long time and alot of dedication to get this project finished. Also, I may be starting Left 4 Dead after this... so keep tuned.
quick ABH question. I do all of the steps right, but I just slow down a lot. My autohotkey has no issues, I'm not holding back or forwards, and I'm only holding my jump button and crouch. The only thing I could think of is that I have terrible FPS, usually around 15 or so.
Run the game with the lowest settings. The FPS determines the rate at which you can input commands, so if you up the FPS, the ABHing will be smoother.
Oh.. I see. you just place a portal there..and then...I'm lost.
