Was this physically the same coaster that had the orange and white paint scheme in Toronto at the CNE from the early 80s to the mid 90s? Or was this a clone? Also, there is a similar one with 3 loops at West Edmonton Mall in Alberta. That one is indoors so there is less corrosion and it is way faster than Doppel Looping. It also went off the track in 1985 and killed 3 people, but reopened a year later. It had 5 cars per train for decades, but now has 3 cars per train.
This was an awesome coaster, better than some permanent coasters I've ridden. Sometimes it felt like the thing was going to grind to a stop in the middle of the second loop. In the 80s it only had a lap bar and the carnies never checked to make sure they were all the way down. Me and my friends would leave them fully upward until we entered the second loop because lack of speed/gravity would have plopped us to our deaths. Conklin was awesome.
@JATO457 Yes, but do you know who bought it? From what I now, it was sold to some one in Germany, as well Dorney park's Lazer which was sold to 2 German show men.
Nobody has ever fallen out. Unfortunately, only a lot of old coasters are retired recently. This unfortunately includes the roller coasters from Schwarzkopf. However, double-looping the road again in Europe.

that was my first roller coaster ride n i screamed into the lap of a total stranger lol. but once i look back at it... its not really scary probably cause i went on scarier rides after (the hulk)
omg... i just went to the fair hopping to go on this ride and it wasnt there! i was like omg!! that sucks!! :( cuz this was the first year that i wasnt afraid to go on it. :(
I'm definitely going to miss this ride at the Fair; I dreaded the day that this would happen. This is a travesty; that signature corner will never be the same.
If I'd own Doppel Looping I would get some land and put Doppel Looping there to make it a all year ride. Or leave it at the fair's parking lot to make it the only ride there while all the other rides are gone but that would be lame.
@crossbones64 woah...It DID stay for a year....wow I found it hard to believe but just now I was on Google Earth and I was playing with Time Machine Imagery over the FIU park where the fair is held and went over to Feb. 2006 and when I switched over to Aug. 2006 even though its a blurred image you can clearly see Doppel Looping there... gee
Wow. Looks awesome. xD Wish the carnival/fair type thing my city does had something like this. O: But they don't do roller coasters, and then I'm not sure there's enough room for one anyway...

No, Dorney Park has had the Lazer for many years. That is till they removed it in 2008 for Voo Doo.

grink67 2 years ago
oh man! I'm going on tuesday so I'm going to see that spiny thingy. lol.
did you go on it?
lifeoftheparty25 2 years ago
Canobie, just curious but how many fairs have big rides like rollercoasters (Scwartzkopf' s etc)? I live in ohio, and we dont have much at our fairs.
coastermusic93 3 years ago
None, this was the only MAJOR portable coaster in the states. There is HIGHMILER and and RC-48 but both are much smaller rides and lack inversions.
