Two years ago the Democrats realized they needed a bad economy in order to seize power. They and Obama kept preaching"the sky is falling"on the economy, but the numbers didn't show it and the people didn't believe it. They kicked it up with the "r" word, recession. The numbers still didn't show it. But,the dems kept going, because cosumer confidence is 85% or the economy. And it worked, the economy took a crap. The Dems. took power and they get 2 trillion dollars in bailouts, for their programs.
DD826, don't YOU realize that the powers that be want a split down the middle? There is no difference between Democrats and Republicans because in the end, the powers that be get whatever they want and Democrats or Republicans can't stop it. Take Barack for example, his polices are practically the same as Bush's. Most of the people he appointed were the same ones Bush had. Barack talks about change but there isn't going to be any change to the status quo.
I the government is putting this much money in to these companies I think the government should take full or part ownership of these companies. They use to make money and they will again and any profit should be government money with a percent payed back to each tax payer for their investment. How strong would a government owned automobile company with the combined resources of the big three in a decade? Somethings will have to change or things like this will happen again in the near future.

This is circular logic. The constitution authorizes congress to appropriate funds, the bail out authorized Sec. Paulson to spend funds. I am not for the bail out, but arguments like the judge's provide little insight.

I hope we're all wise enough to kick the "trickled down" myth to the curb now.
It didn't work on the massive tax cuts Bush got for the top 5% (many put the money in off-shore accounts or invested over-seas), and this $750 Billion that's going mostly to the top 5% won't help much either.
Any builder knows you build from the bottom up, not from the top down.
They let Congrss & the people believe they were gonna help out homeowners & others in the middle class, but all along they knew it was going to the top 5%.
And don't expect this to trickle down anymore than the Bush tax cuts for the top 5% did.
The Trickle down Myth has to be the greatest scam ever put forth in the history of mankind. The true path to economic power and stability is to allow a truly prosperous middle class to exist with rich rewards for hard work and ingenuity, not the myth of "Rich people make jobs" to continue to have a day in court. Rich people make money and if that means cutting the financial throats of tens of thousands of honest people, then so be it by their reasoning.
The largest middle class over the centuries, since the inception of the United States of America has been the United States of America.
That is why we have become the largest consumers in the world. Because we have the best system to accommodate a middle class. true enough, we are presently in decline.
The answer to our problems is not to become a socialist country. Take care of your family, your friends and neighbors, and the rest will take care of itself.
We are consumers, true enough. And how have we remained consumers since we stopped being producers of any note? Debt.
We are now the greatest debtor nation the planet has ever known. This thrust towards consumerism is unsustainable. We have sold our future for a gilded now. We sell our own infrastructure to other nations and foreign corporations. While diligently guarding against the bogey man of socialism we have ignored the true reality of becoming indentured serfs to foreign powers.

Misplaced blame. It is Nancy Pelosi and Hsrry Reid in cahrge of passing the buck. Giving all this power to one man is the democrat way of hiding behind the curtain and letting someone else, someone from the conservative side, bear the burden of failure.
Even now, Obama is loading the deck with conservative politicians to serve his administration. Ostensibly to bring everyone together. In reality, this is to have someone to blame, someone to burn , when things spin out of control.
I don't agree with the bailouts, but what you are missing STILL is that that 5% that you democrats and uneducated people keep ignorning is that poor people don't employ people. RICH PEOPLE DO!
Yes, yes, we should give all our money to the richest of the rich to burn however they see fit because otherwise there would be no jobs! THIS OPINION MAKES PERFECT SENSE.
Sounds like a signing statement to me. They do nothing Congress, will do just that, NOTHING. The system is broke, we need to start by ending the Federal Reserve.
A young man will tell a woman anything to get into her pants. Paulson did the same to Congress to get the powers over the financial markets he is now abusing. Only now, as he begins to use the dictatorial powers can we see the depths of Congress' betrayal. Now the whore (Congress)is having regrets.
BTW, does anyone else think that Hank looks more like Lex Luthor with each passing day? He certainly seems to have plans to take over the whole world with his Global Financial System aspirations.
Trickle down actually does work, as long as you cut government spending as you cut taxes. It's no good to create a deficit that puts generation after generation in debt, though. The budget must be balanced.
DillonX, stop being naive. The Democrat controlled congress holds the financial purse strings, and their approval rating is lower than Bush's. It was Pelosi, Barney Franks and Harry Reid who twisted arms and led the push to force this bailout through the senate.(after padding it with an additional $150B in pork) It is the "insider elite" of BOTH parties that are screwing us, not just Bush.
If you really want to blame someone, you might want to focus on Greenspan, Bernanke and Paulson.
They promised to help the middle class, but just like everything else that's gone in since Bush came in 8 years ago, this $750 Billion will mostly end up in the pockets of the top 5%, & much of that will then go into off-shore bank accounts where they won't even pay tax on the interest.
BUSH HAS SCREWED US GOOD AND I DONT SEE ANY WAY TO REVERSE IT!
TREASON - United States Code at 18 U.S.C. § 2381 states "whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."
Sounds exactly like treason. We need massive citizen arrests of these crooks, because it seems our police don't even know how to take care of this scenario. Unless they too become informed of this.
Congress is inept or corrupt or both for adding to the bill and then approving the 853 billion. The bottom line for Paulsen was protection of his and his cronies personal wealth. Does anyone notice how much things have "improved" since the caper took place? I guess because gas is only $2.45 a gallon (150% more than it was when our hero,"W",took office btw) we ought to be glad? A year ago I was grossing 1500 a wk,last week I grossed 111.54. Talk about why I'm in foreclosure?

Citicorp firing 53,000 employees, but the Execs still not willing to give-up their million dollar bonuses.
Will public pressure force them to?
DillonX 3 years ago
Thank you so much for stating the obvious. The American people know this...it is just refreshing for someone from MSM to acknowledge it.

Stop being naive.
I am a Republican.
I was a delegate to our State Republican Convention this year.
But I'm also smart enough to know that "the trikle down theory" doesn't work.
DillonX 3 years ago
Trickle down actually does work, as long as you cut government spending as you cut taxes. It's no good to create a deficit that puts generation after generation in debt, though. The budget must be balanced.

ummm.... you are wrong.

This guy should run for congress.
OutlawTomFantastic 3 years ago 3
He should be on the supreme court. Congress would be a waste of his talents.

This video need's to be seen by all americans. thank you Judge Napolitano for speaking the truth!
MS1719ms 3 years ago 6
They promised to help the middle class, but just like everything else that's gone in since Bush came in 8 years ago, this $750 Billion will mostly end up in the pockets of the top 5%, & much of that will then go into off-shore bank accounts where they won't even pay tax on the interest.
BUSH HAS SCREWED US GOOD AND I DONT SEE ANY WAY TO REVERSE IT!

That was so beautiful and powerfully spoken, I stood up at my computer area and applauded wildly! You are so rock and roll, Judge Napolitano!

I stood and saluted him.
cowboy1165 3 years ago 5
...but now Sec Paulson says he's scratching the pre-approved plan & taking matters into his own hands. "What gives him that power?!"
ANS: The same apathetic "Americans" that allow[ed] these crooks to be in power for the past 20-30 years.
At this point, they could hold a press conference and tell the American people point blank: "We're robbing you".
The lack of action & the silence would be deafening!

There is a word for what has transpired, not only recently, but numerous times in the past and that word is TREASON!!!!
With all that word implies those in our government who are found guilty of TREASON should pay the ultimate penalty for that TREASON!!!!
republicae 3 years ago 12
Absolutely agree.
Gilgamesh73 3 years ago 6
Exactly!

Sounds like TREASON to me.
robpatozz 3 years ago
Sounds exactly like treason. We need massive citizen arrests of these crooks, because it seems our police don't even know how to take care of this scenario. Unless they too become informed of this.

short of congress calling for the fed's and the treasury's arrest, nothing will happen. the entire congress is a lame duck now.
