Great place. Went inside during my college years. The basement is outrageous. There was a huge room downstairs where someone had pushed all the junk to the outer edges and pulled an old metal dentists chair to the center. The rest of the place was pretty tame, but that room oozed terror.
Hello! I am going to be doing an expedition here and would like to know how you guys got in. Maybe we could even do an interview. We are also a paranormal team. Wanna help us get in? If you don't believe me just watch my videos. Thanks, Cruce
(meanshawny)...There was a sign back in the late 80's or early 90's on Douglas at Blakeslee that read: Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospitol North Campus with an arrow pointing west up Blakeslee hill. So at one point it was used for Psychiatric Patients. I grew up and lived 4 blocks from this hospitol and could see it from my backyard on Arlington near Commonwealth.
First off, the hospital wasn't built until the 1950's so it would be a bit hard to house patients from 1913. Secondly, very glad you kept the investigation to those top floors, because if there was a risk for those warnings you'd definatley be 100% secure with the ventilation...what a joke and for you other videos, it Borgess. You could've at least got that right.
@clmbeverest The one from 1913 was a little further down Prairie towards Alamo and has been torn down for many years. It now a green space called Fairmont park.
@epix1718 there all holes all around the fence but now the people that own it put up motion sensors so people are getting caught all the time. If you have $50 to cover the fines go ahead and try to get in. there is a ladder on one side of the building.
it was originally used as a TB hospital, until the Kalamazoo State Hospital got overcrowded, then patients were moved into this facility. And yes we were aware of not only the TB, but the presence of asbestos and lead.
Thats why we limited our investigation to the 2nd 3rd and 4th floors that were more than adequately ventiliated due to the lack of windows. The only risky area to enter would be the 1st floor which has been completely bricked in, and obviously the basement. And due to these risks, we avoided those floors and limited our investigation length.
Actually I think they used a lot of the old centers that treated TB for asylums for mental patients till all the mental health funding got cut bad starting in the 80s most of the time. Most Ive ran across closed during the 70s and 80s. Mostly the 80s tho.

Are people still creeping into this place? Is there any security or risk to get caught?

Which hospital are you talking about because the Tuberculosis Sanitorium Building existed back in the 1913's there is also a newspaper article on it.
