The story sucked because in one scene when he was being sliced up and fell off the building they didn't show how he even survived and recovered from those injuries. The fight scenes were way too short, the girl gets stabbed by that long ass sword and survives? Also how does one goes from being a cold blooded killer to all of a sudden being this kind hearted hero without guidance? The movie had no kind of substance.

I think he is FINE as HEll and I can tell you that I do not say that often about Asian Men ( no offense). I did not know he was a HUGE mega star oversea. He has talents in both acting and danciing. I would love to see him do a major cross over to the US. I think he could pull it off with the right publicity.

Asian Americans are good actors and there is very good actors from all parts of the world. This movie in particular got high ratings for no reason. No offence, its just bad acting.
In terms of action I found it quite satisfying but, dissapointingly, the gore became incresingly tame the further the movie progressed. The penthouse scene at the beginning is, in my opinion, the best scene in the entire movie; offering everything we could want in a balls-to-the wall action movie about ninjas.
Story-wise, I believe NA could have done without Mika and her criminal investigation and focused more on Raizo's story, since the former felt weak and half-baked.
Best Action movie I have ever seen... I love the action in it, I love the storyline, and I love the atmosphere of the entire movie. You will not be disappointed if you watch this movie.

the whole story isn't hard to understand, the viwer is basicly stepping into the world ninjas. if you studyed the culture of the Ninja you'll get the movie better, the action is over the top kick ass and it's giving a better view of a Ninja's skills other movies and show don't take yoou deep enough into the life of a ninja. never listen to critics.
I think that the plot was underemphasized, but the actual action, stunt movements, and choreography are really astounding. Especially with using very little to none at all technical equipment to rely on, it was all human talent and Rain proved himself to be a person with amazing capabilities, he wowed me with his training and dedication. When it comes to action and martial arts films, why would anyone watch them MAINLY for the storyline? I (and many action fans will agree) go for the action. If you want to just focus on the storyline then watch a drama. Plain and simple. True enough the story was a little weak, but who cares?! The fight scenes were great! Now I do think the film should have just focused on his fight for freedom. The whole government thing was a bit off to me.

The plot/script was just decent, could have had more work into it. I felt that there was no need for Europol to be in this, but it did add some action into it such as the warehouse fight scene.
The action was very well done though. All the fight scenes were very entertaining and exciting.

Saw this movie with my girlfriend. It was hard not to laugh at some of the scenes. The acting was horrible, the plot made little sense, and the action was hilarious. My girlfriend was laughing so hard she was crying.

The movie made perfect sense. However, they could've done without the fake blood bursts. Would've been a far better movie to keep the cuts more realistic. And Sho Kosugi was by far the best choice as the Master.

Thats pretty much what happens to someone who get knife wounds. My favorite parts were of the throwing stars. Most others just throw a couple, but this one man, it was like a a throwing star machine gun. CG just enhanced the visibility of the throwing stars. Plot needed a little work, but the action was kickass, best I've seen in a long time for action sequences.

When I want to see an action/horror film I could care less about how much blood is spraying. It seems people are criticizing this movie way too hard. Why do I get the feeling most critics hate action movies? I haven't seen it (it's so gory my mom certainly won't let me), but the fight clips released are phenomenal & the story appears to be halfway decent.

It had a great plot/story, amazing effects, no bullshit stunts, only effects on blood/shadows, most violent movie ever made, best Ninja movie ever made, and best action movie ever made, and now you haters are thinking "What? When it comes to action and martial arts films, why would anyone watch them MAINLY for the storyline? I (and many action fans will agree) go for the action. If you want to just focus on the storyline then watch a drama. Plain and simple. True enough the story was a little weak, but who cares?! The fight scenes were great! Now I do think the film should have just focused on his fight for freedom. The whole government thing was a bit off to me.

i didn't watch this movie yet, but this guy doing the review sounds harsh,like seriously,he's more like dissing the movie than actually giving unbiased thoughts about it.he sounds mad at the Asian heritage for some reason.may be he got kicked in the nuts when he was in high school by some martial artist Asian kid back in elementary school cause he had the same old ridiculous attitude back then! wouldn't be surprised if he got fired for making such a horrible review of such a good looking movie!

I thought it was good
The plot/script was just decent, could have had more work into it. I felt that there was no need for Europol to be in this, but it did add some action into it such as the warehouse fight scene.
The action was very well done though. All the fight scenes were very entertaining and exciting.

Saw this movie with my girlfriend. It was hard not to laugh at some of the scenes. The acting was horrible, the plot made little sense, and the action was hilarious. My girlfriend was laughing so hard she was crying.
Everyone in the theater was laughing. It was funnier than The Hangover.

The movie made perfect sense. However, they could've done without the fake blood bursts. Would've been a far better movie to keep the cuts more realistic. And Sho Kosugi was by far the best choice as the Master.

I dunno, this movie didn't really seem like it was made for people that like a deep story. I think it was made for people who like action, ninjas, gore, and elaborate fight sequences and no one else. In this respect, it has succeeded fantastically.

one of the main reasons why i went to go see this movie was because of Rain and the Wachowski Bros.
but to be honest, i walked in with not much expectations at all... boy was I blown away!
this movie deserves more than 2 stars. at least 3.5 or something. Like most people said, the story line needs a little more work. there are blank spots in the story that needs filling.
but the overall action and fight scenes was pretty amazing. i would definitely pay to watch this movie again.

i've already watched this and I have to agree with most of the people who liked the movie. it's a NINJA movie and possibly the best NINJA movie I've ever seen since TMNT. and for keeping it real... damn this is the closest thing to being real as the ninja's here use ninja weapons and skills and none of that ninja fireball-summon elemental-ninja copy stuff that makes the other ninja's laughable. you gotta be brain dead to be looking for something deeper in this movie.

This movie was better than I had expected. People who hate it, I'm sorry but remember this is a ninja movie, expect a lot of killing. The killing scenes were GREAT very believable. Thats pretty much what happens to someone who get knife wounds. My favorite parts were of the throwing stars. Most others just throw a couple, but this one man, it was like a a throwing star machine gun. CG just enhanced the visibility of the throwing stars. The black girl pretty convincing she looked prettty scared.

Some people see movies for comedy, and some see movies for horror. Some people don't like it to bloody, and some do. Basically what i'm saying is, this guy went in already thinking the movie was going to be silly, or so it seems. I thought it might be, and then one day i was sitting at my house and said to myself 'wait. How can a movie about ninjas be silly?' So I gave it a shot, going in hoping for an epic ride, and this movie delivers. Who cares if it makes sense. Its a movie about ninjas.

I saw the movie. The movie has numerous fights scenes, people being dismembered and blood being splattered everywhere. The background story was thin but hey if you want an action movie it was great. I would not recommend this movie for young kids. The actor Rain was fantastic in the fight scenes.

Agreed, the story wasn't too good but over the movie would be alright but I've been hearing bad reviews and some fans give it too good of a review that it's hard to believe.
