I've recently come to love MegaSeg more and more. When OSX 10.7 (Lion) came out, MegaSeg was right there working without a hitch. Since then, MegaSeg has released three more (I think) free updates, putting it at 5.7.3. Every time, the update is quick and flawless. I think being a great Mac program for 13+ years has its advantages.
@xcuik96 I've been a mac guy for a very long time. MegaSeg meets my needs, and is built for the mac from the ground up. I just attempted to install the traktor demo, but at 500MB of disk space, it seems way bloated for software (MegaSeg weighs in at 50MB). Any idea why traktor needs that much code to work? Is there some great feature I'm missing?
Megaseg 5.5 is immense and and keeps Megaseg as by far the best and most stable software solution for DJ's. Used it now for 9 years, the competition can't match it, Virtual DJ loses sync with videos, Serato needs extra hardware and Traktor doesn't do video. Megaseg is a professional tool that you can trust your DJ profession with.
do you really have every songs' BPM filled in in the ID3 tags? that doesnt make any sense unless you seriously did it manually or theres a program that can pull that info off the web somehow...
Actually, I have about 3000 songs with BPMs attached. MegaSeg has a pretty easy way to do it, but it requires manually tapping out 16 beats with the spacebar. Years ago, I started doing this with music as I used it at parties. Now, as I add to my collection, it's just a matter of sitting down for 30 minutes and tapping out 30-40 songs. In the end, your library is so much more useful (searching by BPM is handy).
you can mix 2 songs together, using the two virtual decks on the screen. Full ability to change the bpm to match on both sides makes it easy to beat mix and keep the tunes seamless.
Hi nice 2 find a fellow macman on youtube. (new macbook owner)
Being playing around with this software for a while on the demo and love it. nice interface and it really is rock steady with soooo many good feautures. Can't wait to see some more vids from u becuase there is bound 2 be stuff I hav missed.
My only worry is I don't do many wedding discos but do loads of birthdays and anniversary that kinda thing. do u think it sounds "well-mixed" coz I'm not convinced about the cross-fades it does
It beat-mixes rather well, just takes some getting used to and practice as everything is keyboard driven (on my setup). Megaseg claims to support a variety of input devices though, so if you want to use something for "feel" those options exist.
As for crossfades, a lot has to do with 1) how similar the songs are and 2) when they were recorded. I've found that older stuff (pre-2000) tends to have long gaps on each end, which makes the fade terrible.
You do have tons of control, though, as you can set custom fades/intros for each track. My favorite feature is the use of an Airclick with Megaseg (I'll do a video). Essentially, it gives you volume and advance control in a remote. Great for introducing a first dance, then having the music start as you walk off the dance floor.
Hey man thanks for making this video. I am a part time DJ, but as a full time pilot that is based in another state plus a drummer in a band, I don't have much in the way of free time. I have the Megaseg software but have not yet used it-just haven't had time to sat down with the manual and learn the software and will not use it at a gig until I know it well. Hope you do more video's showing/explaining other features of the software. Thanks Again!
Well, I wouldn't normally queue that up, but I'm always a little surprised at the requests I get. It's all about the bride, it's all about the bride....
next time turn off the background music so we can hear u clear instead of playing music in the background..

megaseg doesn't do any recordings, but it does mix your mic input and its own output (which I did to make this vid).

thanks for the props. I'll keep making videos for this software, because it's absolutely perfect for the typical wedding DJ.
