I remember when this happened. This was complete bullshit, no criminal intent whatsoever, simple malfunction that is a fairly common occurance. I just saw something like this happen here in CA at the shooting range last week, guys SKS went "full auto" through an entire mag because it was still soaked in cosmoline (guy had it for years and never fired it) and the firing pin got stuck. Guy cleaned up the gun and kept shooting, the cops that were there actually found it kind of funny...

the parts of the gun could be looked at under a microscope and it would be evident immediately if the parts were tampered with. ive had a brand new .22 rifle do the same thing and i didnt tamper with it. this is fairly common when parts wear out or shoddy quality control fails. you can buy an ar-15 in CA, you just need either a magazine locking device (prince50 or bullet button) or you can build your rifle 'featureless' which means that you have to use a u-15 or monsterman stock/grip along with not having a flash hider, pistol grip, foreword pistol grip, folding/collapsable stock, thumbhole stock, or grenade or flare launchers. I live in CA and I know that the firearms laws are WAY over the line, and I believe that we must be ready to defend ourselves.

From what I heard, they [BATF] couldn't get the thing to malfunction when they tested it, so they actually damaged it until it WOULD malfunction again. And somehow that evidence was allowed to be used! It's ridiculous!

There actually is no law stating that a slam-fire/out-of-battery fire malfunction constitutes a firearm as full-automatic and therefore a "machine gun," but there IS a law stating that if more than one bullet comes out per trigger pull, it's a "machine gun." This law is used to keep full-autos out of the hands of civilians, NOT to make felons out of people whose firearms malfunction once in a lifetime. Powertrips for the LOSE!!! >:(

Its not Olympic Arms fault at all. Any weapon with an old trigger assembly can fire a burst if its worn out or "malfunctioning".Since they say the weapon in question jammed after the "burst", then any decent lawyer could argue that the burst was caused by a bump-fire. If the weapon has a stock sear and fire selector/saftey then the charges should be dropped when the weapon is presented as evidence and examined by a firearms expert.
