@Landaux Its an industrial railroad. Runs taconite pellets from the plant, to the ore docks at Marquette Michigan on Lake Superior. Thanks for watching...
The LS&I that services the Tilden and Empire mines in the U.P. do not haul taconite pellets. It hauls Hematite and Magnetite ore pellets. Its a commonly made mistake.
Takes me back to Southern Iowa when I was "this many fingers old", when they still said Burlington Northern on the sides. Mostly SD40-2s, U30Cs, and C30-7s. But sometimes you'd see a GP9, SD9 or even the F45 mixed in on even the heavy coal drags. Never a dull moment by the tracks!
Thanks. I believe CSX must have been the last Class I to use any GE U-Boats or Dash 7's; they actually have several B36's and two or three B30's left online. All the six-axle Dash 7's were gone by 2006. I miss them all. D=
You know what the C30-7 and U30C remind from a railroad that merged with Santa Fe? the cascade green paint scheme tell me these engines are ex-Burlington Northern units the only thing that is missing on the engine the BN emblem these two old engines are ex-BN units.
The last U boat I saw and heard was 9 years ago. It was a CSX MOW U boat, most likely on one of its last runs on CSX before either retirement or transfer. Thanks for reliving some memories.
Was that once a busy main-line, downgraded to a short-line branch?

So this is where all of BNs C30-7 and U30C locomotives went

I have seen a lot of disagreement over whether EMD or GE makes better locomotives. Being almost exclusively a steam fan I wonder why.

Was that a U36C?! WOW! I haven't seen one of those yet! (I thought they were all gone by the time I got interested in railfanning)

They are a C30-7 leading and a U30C trailing. I don't think there are any U36C's in service anywhere any more. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294.
