its a butterfly valve in the left tailpipe that opens and closes to prevent drone and excessive noise at low RPM's while maintaining an aggressive amount of noise at higher rpm's. IT can be be disconnected by unplugging a small plug behind the left taillight

I have the same car, the turbo's arent that loud out the back, it just sounds that way online. Even though it sounds real good, the only way to really hear the turbo's is with some nice 2.5 or 3 inch catless downpipes and an intake. :)
My dad has one and he punches it in the tunnels.. U can't do nothing but smile..
