That open/closed back design is like the Coyote Cab on ebay, although the jet city version is much more simple to take out and put in.

The hybrid would have all of the benefits of an opened back, but only some of the benefits of a closed back. This is because the back panel wouldn't be sealed as tightly as a normal closed back cabinet allowing air to escape.
