_____I only wish books with whacked-out plotlines like this would get published. There are way too many Star Trek and Star Wars rip-off novels being written. If you've read one sci-fi book written after the year 1990, you've pretty much read them all. Literary agents are a straight-laced bunch who almost never publish anything new or original. So... Crap novels keep getting published, leaving some awesome tales for movies. The few good sci-fi books there are, they do rock harder than movies.
O.K,, Thanx's . But do you thank it would easy to order the car, (say), all original,/ except the engine,, like swapping that Volvo for a small block chevy (would it work) ?????
Yeah my understanding is that back in the 80s EPA and emissions standards required that an enhibitor thing be put on the engine to reduce emissions.
Sadly that also reduced the power it was suppose to reach thus making it a flop in terms of fast sports cars. But thats just what I've heard and I might be wrong.
Id kill you all, steal the delorean and go back in time to steal the hoverboard. Then break into Doc Browns lab and steal all his research creating a paradox that would destroy the universe.
they only had to have catalyic converters and reduce the engine power on the stock ones that were being sold but in the film they changed the engines for porshce V8's
"The PRV engines of the cars were swapped out for more powerful Porsche engines" (Wikipedia)
You mean the Delorean company, well since the company wanted 2 keep the car at a reasonable price including the days of gas prices they instead choose a 2.4 liter Puegeot engine which had only 130hp, also due 2 the US laws by having all cars with catalyic converter.
I don't know...the flying thing was cool, but I kinda liked seeing the Delorean burn rubber on the road instead. I liked how when Marty was behind the wheel, he'd floor that bad boy! Made me want a Delorean when I was a kid!
yea i just went to the Star Cars museum in Gatlinburg, TN, where they had a used-in-film DeLorean *or so they claim* which was on prime display. Lots of props as well.

they are gong to be making new ones on a limited basis now too. Houston, TX is the number 1 place in the world for DeLoreans.

My understanding though is that they are one of the worst cars ever made.

He's right, the Delorean did use a porsche engine for the movie because the Peugeot engine is sluggish.

The Delorean used to have a V6 with 130 HP standard power and 197 HP on the upgrade versions.
Not a V8 at all
GETEO 4 years ago
It didn't have a V8. It had a Peugeot 2.8L V6.
