  • I think i found out the name of the piece. "Stephanesque". Anyone?

  • Does anyone know if he *still* lives a traditional gypsy lifestyle? This video was shot a long time ago.

  • My god what a bautiful melody. Does anyone know the name of it. I would love to hear the rest of it.

  • Great, another incomplete low quality gypsy jazz video on youtube.

  • Stocelo sir is a great treat off course!!!

but, we also have few others from a more nomadic gypsy style background and one of its greatest exponents is "Anjael-Man with the blue face from Canada...maybe you gys would check him out?

    God Bless Stocello

  • STOCHELO ES UN MONSTRUO

  • Stochelo Rosenberg did a great job

  • Can anyone tell me where this clip is from?

  • @indy4ever

I saw it years ago in a documentary called The Django Legacy ... I had it on VHS but have since lost it, and would love to find a copy. Pretty much every other gypsy style guitarist was in it, and they filmed the Samois-sur-Seine festival. Amazing stuff!!

  • @traineecanuck I have transferred the video you mentioned on DVD. I don't think I should give my Email address on you tube.

  • This is so beautiful. And the setting of playing in his caravan is really, really cool. I wonder where we can see the entire clip?

  • this is so incredible that its not even funny... i cant even describe that, reminds me when i first found about God (i mean, Al di Meola, :) )

  • Is this clip from a movie/doco or something? If so, does anyone know what the name of it is?

  • That was my trailer. At the time it was parked in Monte Carlo. Do your research.

  • I heard he later moved his trailer down by the river after some hillbilly neighbors complained about his 'weirdo gitar pickin' .

  • Ça se voit que c'est stochelo

  • You to cut two fingers in your hand in order to play Django stuff...otherwise its cheating.

  • the best ever

  • back when hair was a constant presence ta his concerts

    :

  • Excellent !!! C'est l'un des meilleurs apres bireli lagrene

  • I think he looks a lot like Django in this clip. The mustache really seals the deal.

  • jazzmanouche, you should change your name to jazzdouche, its more fitting. ROFL @ hellokittys comment, that is spot on though. Bireli can do or say anything he wants, lol. He's earned that right and then some.

  • It is a very nice video. Thank you to you to share with us your musical passions. It is a pleasure.

  • Its ironic that some guy named jazzmanouche says bad things about Stochelo...

Manouche = Stochelo in my dictionary

  • jazzmanouche , you are a idiot. You're not even a hair of the ass of Stochelo

  • @jazzmanouche : the most stupid thing I've ever read...

  • @jazzmanouche You wrote Bossa Dorado?! You're the great Dorado Schmidt???! I didn't know you were such a dick! Damn, I mean, really...

  • @jazzmanouche are you really bireli in disguise? Because he is the only human on earth allowed to speak of Stochelo in such ways. :) hahah if you are bireli I say please dont slander Mr. Stochelo, but yes you are allowed to say anything you want about anyone because you are basically god in .gypsy format, like .mp3 for music, you are .gypsy for earth. But we know you are not bireli, so get out and never come back

  • @hellookelly ROFLLLLLLLLL it takes some serious gall to call the 2nd best guitar player in existence anything negative. Grats on having the largest set of private parts on earth, or the lack there of.

  • @jazzmanouche uhmm... WHAT THE FUCK!?

  • i would suck that mans dick. anybody else with me?

  • ah. stochelo's favino. it sounds so good. he should start recording with it again.

  • The best part is that despite the intense speed of his playing, this song is very calming.

  • wat song is he playing?

  • It's improv

  • the baby is like daaaaamn

  • I still cannot understand how the gypsy players manage to down pick when they are going up on the strings. It's counter-intuitive. Love u Stochelo. U R da shyt.

  • I have seen a lot of gypsy players, and this guy, in this clip, is the best I have heard since Django himself.

  • he is folowing Django Reinhart steps and his life

  • he lives in a trailer WTF.. He should be lviingi n a mansion why is he ni a trailer

  • Because musical talent is irrelevant in the music industry.

  • because he's a gypsy

  • this video makes me want to stop playing guitar

  • beautiful video

  • Genius

  • This is great- he really sounds like Django here, the warm lo-fi sound quality also helps..

  • Yes the sound is so charming

  • I can play that, of course a hell of a lot slower but I can play it.

    He makes me sick.

A man shouldn't have that much talent.

  • people who thumb this comment down are retarded.

  • The kid is getting an ear training, you bet by the time he gets his first guitar he'll have memorized a lot of chord progressions and from close up observation of his dad's technique he will have a leg up, so to speak.

Isn't this scene of peaceful home life more attractive than one with all the high tech entertainment gizmos or what? The atmosphere is very nice, and gosh, the man looks very good too.

  • that kid grew up to be a rapper! he doesn't play guitar!

  • Absolute mastery!

  • does he actually live in a trailer

  • no they bought the trailer, moved all his stuff in, hired a wife and baby just to shoot this clip for your enjoyment so you'd ask the question does he actually live in a trailer.

  • LOL LOL

  • haha, you win :D

  • actually i am a gypsy and gypsys used to live in trailers like that so i am pretty sure was his trailor

  • Yeah you are right, Stochelo is my mothers cousin, and she said it was his trailer

  • i love this so much ...

  • speed demon!!

incredible that this is a ''slow song''

  • 00-30 to 00-40......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Someone has an actual transcription of whats going on in this clip here? I'd like to mess around with the voice leading stuff towards the end.

  • Very nice, like everything he does!

  • I'm sorry but this shouldn't be allowed.

  • what shouldnt be allowed?

  • The ability to make my guitar ambitions redundant. Just impossibly good. Makes me honestly believe in aliens

  • That's a REALLY nice trailer. Does he still keep the Roma tradition alive? Being somewhat of a veggabond. Excuse me if I'm just ignorant.

  • no he doesent buddy

  • anybody have a transcription of this? xD

  • Yes, there's a couple of different tabs out there that have been transcribed of this piece. I think HotclubDOTuk has it in pdf.

Best of luck with that ;)

  • so is this piece called anything,, having some trouble finding it

    thanks

  • Ok, I found it. I just remembered I have a cd backup of all the content from those 5-6 groups on yahoo, back in 2005. The file is called Stochelo Solo.pdf

The name of the transcription is called,

Unknown Piece from Django Legacy Video (as recorded by Stochelo Rosenburg) It was transcripbed by Dennis at DjangoBooks.

    Cheers

  • yeah I still can't find it either :(

  • Check your inbox.. just sent you a link

  • haha i transcribed that years ago, i'm glad it's still floating around somewhere

  • yes

  • He's really good. But he hits a wrong note at 0.22. Even the greatest... :)

  • debatable :)

  • There's no wrong note. I can explain what the problem is : you're not musician. That's all...

  • I do am a musician and if you wanna know in that point he's playing a II V I in F major and on the F he hits C#, which is an augmented fifth, and a kind of a dissonant choice. You can hear it clearly, and also you can see it by the movement that he does with his left hand, his finger is kind of in the middle of two notes and then he adjust immediately shifting to another note, which is the natural sixth, D in this case. Take it easy mate ;)

  • Well, had he not shifted to another note, I would have fully agreed but he did shift. So it's debatable whether it was on purpose or not. Seen that move a million times on purpose.

  • Well, obviously a master like him would probably not stay on a wrong note for more than half a second, so it's really difficult to actually see him PLAY a wrong note. I don't know if I just explained myself in the right way but it's pretty clear I think ;)

  • I am a musician too and the idea of a wrong note is futile. let this go.

  • I think that he was trying to play one of those of-the-wall Bireli Lagrene licks.

  • The run starting at 30 seconds is one of the most insane things EVER!!! Dude is fucking top-notch. Period.

  • Stochelo is one of my all time favorites!

  • doamne nu se poate asa cv:X:

  • nice play, love it

if you like it must see

    gipsystrings chanel

  • Thank you for posting this on Youtube !

  • Gypsy jazz Rules

  • RE-FRIKKIN-SPECT! Can't stop watching and listening!

  • Keep in mind that Stochelo has no back-round in traditional music theory. This is reflected in his use of some unconventional chording shapes that distinguish his sound from that of the other gypsy manouche titans. Compared to the others (Bireli, Jimmy, etc) his music is pure unassuming, unadulterated bliss. May his music live forever.

  • Amen to that, even jimmy wanted to copy his sound, Bireli is the best in my opinion, but Stochelo is by far my Fav.

  • LOL 'manouche titans' sounds good!

  • There's this genuineness and something special about this style of music. It hits you right in your heart and it transcends time and all cultural boundaries in my opinion...you hear jazz, a folk type of Gypsy vibe, virtuosity, and the sound that his guitar emanates is beyond words and description.

  • He should get a lot more recognition for his work. Its a pity that this style of music is not recognised beyond certain groups.

  • i am glad. this A-musical world is not worth listning to this beautifull style

  • unbelievable. i don't know why this style of playing isn't lauded more. that was amazing

  • holy fuck

    robot hands

  • one of the best guitarists on the planet

  • Yes, he gives me chills.

  • he is my favourite acoustic guitar player

  • they are no bros they are cousins

  • Agreed, just rated it for 5 without having noticed the moron test:-) Rosenberg Bros rules!

  • i agree. only a real moron would rate it less then 5.
