Roisin sings better now than her days with Moloko. Or, maybe it is just better production? When her singing wasn't as developed, she'd sing in this kind of nasally way that I didn't like. Although, I liked the the guitarist in Moloko. He added a guitar jazz groove that is missing now in her songs, which are basically synth based almost entirely.

Does no one realize that this song is about environmental issues? Global warming/climate change? Its not about how pretty Miami is, its a warning to Miami that its going to sink "under melted snow," i.e. the polar ice caps. Its a fantastic song, but it goes a little deeper than just being a dance hit.

The amount of ice melting off of dry land is insignificant compared to the size of the oceans. Most of the worlds ice is over liquid ocean anyway (the arctic) and its melting would have exactly zero effect on sea levels.

The oceans cover 2/3 the surface of the planet. The amount of water is mind boggling. A mass of ice one mile thick and the size of China would need to melt directly into the oceans for them to collectively rise by one foot worldwide. And even that wouldn't do very much damage.

Add in tides and you could have the city underwater for part of each day long before ALL the ice melts.

A change in sea level is exactly what it says on the tin, when a considerable amount of water enters the ocean and rises it's level or when somehow the water is drained and the sea recedes. This process is too slow to cause tides.
