  • I often find myself thinking of my life as though it was a script for a movie.

I think this often messes me up more than it helps, at least when I'm

    not reflective .

  • That was a nice social experiment. The burning of the $1 bill did not phase me. Could you please try a $100 bill next?

  • @iviewthetube

LoL. Just send me a C-note and I'll be happy to oblige. :)

  • Im assuming that you are emotionally very intelligent , great videos . They make sense , all the best :) !

  • @alphakristjan

    Thanks very much, alpha.

  • My only complaint is that you have the sound so low that I get blasted by the next video I watch LOL

  • @wjkaiser65

Sorry about that, wjkaiser. I'm working on it. I may need a new mic.

  • "We are narrative creatures"..."We inherit myths".. wonderful!

What does Stephen King say?...It's all about the STORY!

Ha!..I'm thinking "I hope he doesn't burn the house down!"

  • @xy11xy

    I'm careful with candles. :-)

  • Interesting! Guess I feel nothing when a dollar is burned but yes, picturing someone in 1915 having a heart attack right now haha!

  • @honeyspur

    LOL!

  • because you have burnt the dollar, could you exchange this video for a new one in the bank? lol

in my own opinion, searching for meaning is almost a distraction from living.

ive been searching for a while and am yet to find anything thats, so meaningfull that i cannot deny it.

    Peace

  • @dee07killer

Yes. Come to think of it. "the search for meaning" may be it's own myth.

But one that is not very productive in the world, can become all-consuming, and can keep one from engaging in the rest of life.

Hmmmm, YouTube videos as a form of currency. I like the idea!

  • "The unexamined life is not worth living" said my beloved Socrates. This implies that the only "answers" that will even mean anything are those one finds for oneself.

  • Pretty good, Cimbolic.

  • @igytsiycm

    Thanks, igytsiycm.

  • Burning dollar bills? Where is your respect for capitalism and the free market young man!?

  • In my eyes, being an agnostic is the stupidiest thing someone can do. By saying that you are an agnostic you are implying that you are ignorant, and being ignorant (not knowing knowledge) makes you comfortable.

  • @TruthfulChristian2

It does not mean that it makes you comfortable.

  • @TruthfulChristian2

Ummmm No, by being agnostic you are recognize the fact that you are ignorant. You seem to imply that because one has strong beliefs that makes one less ignorant which is silly.

  • @TruthfulChristian2 It sounds like you think pretending to have knowledge you don't possess is better than admitting that you lack the knowledge.

  • @TruthfulChristian2 I am agnostic and I am extremely comfortable not knowing. I have literally no desire to know at all.

  • @TruthfulChristian2 The Delphic Oracle called Socrates the wisest man of all. This confused Socrates, because he admitted that he knew absolutely nothing. He thought about this for a long time (in his usual catatonic way) until FLASH! it came to him. He knew nothing, but he alone knew and admitted he knew nothing, where all other men said they knew everything when if fact they knew nothing. The first step on the road to wisdom is IMO knowing how little you really know about anything.

  • @TruthfulChristian2 Agnosticism is the necessary position for all people, whether they admit it or not. The word relates to knowledge of the supernatural, which is something no one has. Therefore even the most devout believer is an agnostic. I am an atheist, by which I mean that I do not entertain a belief that a deity exists. I am also agnostic because I do not possess the knowledge of whether or not a God exists. You need to familiarise yourself with these terms if you want to talk about them.

  • Great video again Cimbolic.Thank you very much. I'm curious as to what your personal meaning of life is and why you think you have this perspective?

Also, does meaning go hand in hand with purpose? For example, as a Christian, I believe the meaning of life is live God's will, but my purpose will change after I die. Likewise, my purpose in life may be to inspire others, to prevent something, or to serve as an example, but it is seperate from my meaning in life.

  • @metaljacket19832

Thanks, metaljacket. I think purpose and meaning are related but not identical. Purpose is somewhat teleological. Meaning seems to be less so, more pattern or tapestry related, more atemporal. I live certain struggles. One is a fight for justice. I also live certain quests, like the quest for knowledge and understanding. I feel my life is most meaninful when I am engaged in those.

  • (cont)

It is an interesting thought that purpose might change after death, thanks for contributing this.
